  1. OK then, guess no one can help me here..... Lol
  2. Just make sure it's not a linkage issue Sinker...... I myself am a mechanic, just not specialized in marine. I learned a helluva lot though, repairing a few things on my spare 30. I just need this lower unit done, and I could even sell it. The motor runs great. I'd love to give you a hand, if I'm ever out your way, of course, I should be at Balsam this weekend, if that's anywhere near you. My plan is too get this spare motor running, the I'll most likely be selling both 30's....(identical motors), in exchange for a 40.
  3. Hey guys, I have a lower unit off my 30 Johnson outboard currently torn apart. Is there anyone near the Newmarket area, that has the know how to put these back together? I'd love to help, or even do the work, I just need guiding eyes. Compensation will be given, I just want to have this thing done, and done properly. If you're up for giving me a hand with this..... I'd be grateful.
  4. I agree! Lol Cool vid though... I love how they hover seamlessly.....or at least, appear to.
  5. I'd have to agree about those ugly sticks. Sure, they're great for the 2-5 time a year user who targets EVERYTHING in one outing, but, I'd be aiming towards a new rod myself, especially with that 4" loss. Kijjjiji could be your best friend, or better yet, visit the classifieds here! Always a deal to be found. Good luck.
  6. Water is usually a dust free environment ....... Outboards will sometimes have an air box in front of the carb though. Acts more like a resonator, than a filter medium. I have two identical outboards, one with, the other, without.
  7. Definitely a great outing!!!! Days like those are hard to forget. Well done guys. .......so, Pete, if ever there's another vacant spot on your vessel...... You know the rest!!!! Lol
  8. I own a bordoodle, (border collie, poodle mix)...... I know, different, but, simply amazing. Can't see the labradoodle being much different. I know my next will be the same.
  9. Lmao..... Well put! My opinion, it was an honest mistake, no obvious ill intent, they were just meatheads. There's tons of em around. As much as you should have blown a hole thru the bottom of their boat, and take off laughing, you did well, and fessed up. You obviously were the bigger man in this situation. Cheers! And well done.
  10. Can't say much more than what's been already said. :-(
  11. Good post! News to me, was that marine ply density was less than construction grade ply, thus making it lighter. When I plan to redo my floor, I aim to collect all the scrap aluminum ladders I can find, and use them as my sub floor. Then I'm torn between carpeting or brush on vinyl flooring. Been hearing pros/cons of both. Currently, I'm walking on a carpeted floor.
  12. Thanks for the heads up. I'll be going to check this week sometime for sure!
  13. Some good info and heads up on how vulnerable we are these days, with all the gadgetry we have, and most don't even know it. Great post.
  14. Go see Dean, at Adventure Bay Resorts...... I'm not 100%, only because I was renting there at the time, but I don't see why he wouldn't allow you to launch/park at his place. Once launched, you're a skip away from Tick island.
  15. Those are quite the beauties you got there!!! Wow
  16. Took advantage of this sale and picked up my Shimano Cardiff, paired with a Fenwick HMG..... IN HEAVEN!.....
  17. I'm using a Lowrance M68C for both summer and winter. Just switch from gimble to gimble. Very convenient, and I'm sure guys here can attest for its quality, given its vintage. So, realistically, as you yourself suggested Dr hook.... Get out there, and play with them. I'd suggest taking a mate along with you that is a little more versed in these products, to aid in your final decision. But, I'll add this, regarding brands..... I was too, a birdman, until I was told to try the Lowrance product. I think I'll remain a Lowrance man for a while now. That's based on their old,technology.......imagine the newer stuff! And not to downplay humminbird, cause I've also seen some good products from them. That's just my $0.02
  18. Heading out from the Barrie area, and just wondering if any of you guys have nailed that, "best", mom n pop diner, for the early morning fishing trip breakfast. You know, that one with the greasy oven exhaust hangin over top the grills, as "paw" gets your order cookin, while "ma" pours you your cup of joe. Suggestions guys?........
  19. Yea, I found a way to download it. Was kinda late, caught the last round, which looked brutal. I woulda hung myself if I paid the dollars to go see it live.
  20. Haven't been able to get AAA working anymore, it was awesome at one point though...... Running Helix....
  21. Not to steer from the original post, but I watched a show that totally threw that WD40 myth right in the garbage. People have contacted the company and asked of its properties and if in fact it really did have fish oils in it..... Only to be told a definite NO!
  22. Never had your misfortune, but do the same. Just cuz I'm cheap! Lol
  23. Pm me if you need some help...... I'm off work, don't mind helping out.
  24. Load your drill bit with some kinda thick grease (wheel bearing grease works, not white lithium). Most of your filings will end up on it, and not your gear case.
