  1. I liked to grab them behind the gills when they are still in the water. Once they get into the boat, they tend to freak out. I find that this technique immobilises them, which lets me get the hook out without to much of a hassle.
  2. Two words.. Bearing buddies.
  3. In my opinion that is the fall is best time to fish the French. Our annual trip is usually the weekend after Thanksgiving... We make the run from Dry Pine Bay, up the main channel about 20kms each day. 30+ fish days are normal, and we've had a few 50+ fish days... smallmouth are everywhere, same with the pike... all on the feedbag. Weather is hit or miss, but for us it didn't matter if it was sunny or raining, the fishing was great. Didn't see a 'ski the entire weekend, there are monsters in there, but they are few and far between... If muskie is your target, I'd hit the Wolseley Bay area....
  4. My parents have good friends that live up in Elliot Lake, to bad they won't divulge a few decent trout lakes/rivers, lol. I've been to the Sault during the pink run, insanity for sure. We also hit up the Michipicoten up in Wawa.. what an experience that was.
  5. If the Compre spinning is anything like the baitcast versions, it's definitely up for the task. I have Compre muskie rods in both 8' and 6'6 and they are awesome.
  6. Excellent job Roger! Nothing beats a smile on a kids face I'll make sure to hunt around for you the next time I'm in BPS!
  7. We've had a green Coleman ever since I was a little kid that we still use every year. My parents bought it back in the 60's....
  8. Create an account and download it for free... http://www.anglersatlas.com/lakes/25344/
  9. Maid of the Mist docks for some monster smallmouth
  10. Did a few fishing related searches on Google, and I stumbled on to this great site
  11. Hey Bly, I just read that also on the US mil site, lol.... http://tycho.usno.navy.mil/gpstt.html I'm still confused btw
  12. I would listen to the Federal officer over a security guard Nice brookies Erik!
  13. All depends on what you want to spend to get that 50incher
  14. Ramble, do yourself a favour and get rid of the . and the @ in your email address. use DOT and AND instead.. You'll end up with all kinds of junk email from scanners that are constantly searching forums for email addresses to spam.
  15. I would suggest voodoo or perhaps one of those dolls you put the spikes in.
  16. Johnny B, awesome report man! We are glad to see you are back to form with the shirtless pics :) Where abouts did you guys launch out of? Port Severn? Honey? Penetang?
  17. Why is everyone so hung up on Atlantic salmon? Really, who cares? Give me a fish that's a bit more resilient like a chinook over an Atlantic anyday. They also need a provincial cormorant cull like they have in place down on Pelee Island on Lake Erie.. The MNR along with the government has wasted so much time and $$$ on Atlantic salmon, when they really could have been making headway on improving the Pacific salmon/steelhead fishery... I gotta agree with the Cronz on this one, Atlantics are a waste of time. If you want to catch Atlantics, go out east. /end rant.
  18. When my dad and I were up at the French River for the muskie opener, we pinched all our barbs down because of the incidental SMB's that kept on smashing our lures.. Other then that, I never pinch the barbs down.. If I am trout fishing a small stream, then the trebles will either get pinched down and taken off with a dremel, or a single si-wash hook will be installed and also shaved down with a dremel.. I got a soft spot for those pretty fish
  19. Who cares why the fish are hitting? Should we only be fishing for fish that are actually hungry? If I can disturb a big fish with a lure, and the end result is him smashing it, I win Reef: Awesome fish bud!
  20. Nice fish!!! As everyone has said, getting a hook deep into the tongue isn't a spot that usually results in a fatality.. Got remember though, hooks are cheap.. If it takes longer then a min to get the hook out, just cut it....
  21. Definitely one of the darkest days that anyone can remember... I was woken up by my dad, and stuck to the TV for atleast 4 days. I also signed up online on Red Crosses website in order to volunteer, but they wouldn't let me across the border when I got to Buffalo.. RIP to all those innocent people.
  22. Appreciate the update bud, I was planning on maybe wetting a line this week, perhaps I'll postpone for a few more
  23. Divine intervention I would guess they have most likely been stocked at one point Either that or the pond was once a lake/streaem that has dried up.
  24. Plan on hitting the whirlpool late at night with a couple of glow in the dark spoons? Always a good time, and I am sure you'd get some decent action.
  25. reef, you tie into one down on the Credit?
