  1. Dave, nice fish! That thing would absolutely destroy my 4wt
  2. I think the old man and I will be hitting Muskoka or Lake Joe after everyone closes up shop on Labour day Great report guys!
  3. Could always go down in size to the 1500RB or even the 750RB, if she finds the reel a bit big. I doubt she'd get spooled even using the 750 UL setup....
  4. If there was ever a post to be jealous of, this would be it!
  5. I don't see why not, mind as well put the eggs to use... They are going to do anyone any good rotting away in the river.
  6. I've caught both smallmouth and largemouth on Yamamoto 5" Senko's in bright green flake, along with pumpkinseed. Natural in the clear water, a little brighter in the stained.. This is just what I've found so far this year
  7. Shimano Sahara 2500FB, along with a Clarus 7ft medium action rod. Some 6lb mono or braid would be good. Keep it simple if she is a first timer (Also expect this rod to maybe end up at the bottom of the lake)
  8. Still a bit to warm, but these cold nights should move things along considerably.
  9. You'll have access to peacock bass!!!!! Make sure you give them a shot, I've heard they are crazy!
  10. Wha? Everytime you dropshot, do you pay someone for it? You are making this more complicated then this has to be... A sub section, with HOWTO's, hints/tips would be a great addition. Personally, I think an Off Topic subsection would benefit this forum the most.. Quite a bit of non fishing related stuff recently.
  11. We have the 747C and added the external GPS, saved a bunch of $$$ by doing that. We also added a cheap chartplotter to the mix (Eagle Intelimap 500C) along with a Navionics Gold Map. For under $1000 we have a rockin setup that rivals the bigger all-in-ones.
  12. Hey guys, Looks like a lot of people are getting ready for the mouths of the tribs to get stacked up with monster black beauties.. When it comes to pier fishing, are any better then others? I'd love to take off at work one day (401/Dixie) and hit a local river mouth for a few hours casting cleo's. If someone could point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it. No honey holes or anything like that, if you feel better I'll glady except PM's. Fishing partners are also glady excepted! I'll bring the coffee
  13. Wow, talk about seclusion!!!! That bear must have scared the crap out of you, I know it would have me Those pickerel are extremely dark! Great looking fish.. BTW, I think your friend Chiper is a red squirrel
  14. So people who are trying to predict (key word here) should be fired or held responsible in some other manor if they guess wrong? It's an educated guess at best... You endangered your own life by seeing the weather turning bad and making the choice to stay out, how you can put blame on anyone else is unbelievable.
  15. Ah, I thought you were down by Big Chute I am going to try Severn tonight.. bringing the 4wt for some topwater bass action, lol should be fun.
  16. Nice fish! What did the pickerel come on? harnesses? I haven't had much luck on the Severn for pickerel this year.
  17. Reminds me of Jaws.
  18. Rick, I used to fish the hydrodam down in St.Catharines a lot when I was younger. Once those big fresh runs chinooks got into the current, forget about it That reminds me, I really need to get down to the whirlpool late one night, have you been down yet this year?
  19. Getting spooled is all apart of fishing! Nothing to be ashamed about at all. I am sure he has the muskie fever now though
  20. HH: Here is my setup.. Maybe a visual makes it easier to understand, lol
  21. HeadHunter, I built a shelf right behind my RP LCD for my CC. It is level with the top of the TV, so it looks like the CC is just floating above it.(You can't see the shelf at all) A small piece of plywood painted black and a few brackets/screws was all it took.. The top of the TV is about 14inches or so from the wall.. Worked out really well..
  22. Can't remember the last time myself or my oldman were spooled.... I think it was up on the Michipicoten river about 15 year or so ago. Dad hooked into a monster chinook while we were out fishing for Pinks. This fish was well over 40lbs, just a big black nasty looking thing. I missed our only chance at netting it and off it went, spooling my dad in the process
  23. Congrats man!!!! Can't say enough about Dave, that was a really cool thing to do...
  24. Anytime I go stream fishing, I'll bring along a garbage bag. I am happy to say that it's come back empty on more then a few occasions.. Most likely because no one fishes where I do
