We caught a few of the ocean run brookies when we fished the Sutton a few years ago. Purple hue to them, really nice looking fish. I'll see if I can find some pics. The problem I see with coaster brookies in Lake Ontario is spawning habitat or the lack thereof. No doubt there are some swimming around out there, but I doubt it's some to put much effort into.

Look at the price breakdown on a litre of gas and you'll know who needs to cut the people some breaks. Tax, tax and more tax.

Not looking forward to diesel prices in the coming weeks.

Paralleling batteries for my 12V trolling motor

I re-wired for the Helix 12s I've got at the bow and console, plus the ethernet switch, etc. Stock wiring always lead to voltage drops. -
Paralleling batteries for my 12V trolling motor
BillM replied to 410001661's topic in General Discussion
Who said anything about the guy rewiring his boat for 24V? We're talking trolling motors here. Some guys mentioned he'd be better off running a 24V setup, vs a 12V setup. But, as the OP stated, that's not in the cards so he'll be simply increasing the capacity of his 12V setup by adding an additional battery. -
Nice Brian! The snow is going to make for a slushfest no doubt.

I loved our Legend tiller, but like porkpie said can't compare a boat made in 2004 to what you've got today. Plus we're talking a pretty basic boat, hard to screw those up. If I was looking at a boat today, I'd probably look for a mid 2000's Lund with transom issues, get a steep discount because of that and then get it repaired. Just my 2 cents. I can't imagine plopping down the kind of money new boats demand these days.

Make sure those drain plugs are removed as of Jan 1st, 2022 fellas!
BillM replied to BillM's topic in General Discussion
I'm the opposite, I always tow with the drain plug in, it never comes out unless I've been out in a rain storm. I'm pretty anal when it comes to water in the bilge, always checking and running the pump if I have to. I'm sure I'll forget the plug this year, but that's what auto bilges are for lol -
Should be mandated to be biodegradable.

Friendly reminder that amendments to the Invasive Species Act have come into place as of Jan 1, 2022. So make sure those drain plugs are out and your trailer isn't carrying 500lbs of weeds before putting it into the water I'm really surprised it took this long to have a law like this in place. For me personally this will be a non issue, all I gotta do is swap locations of my drain plug to make this easier (currently installed inboard). Maybe add a chain or something in case it comes out (doubtful). It's a rarity my trailer comes out of the water with any weeds on it (Sans for one launch I use on Gbay). Apologies if this has been mentioned before, did a quick search and didn't find anything. https://oodmag.com/new-boating-regs-aim-to-reduce-spread-of-invasive-species/

Why fly in trips are my favourite style of trip
BillM replied to gordy28's topic in General Discussion
I love fly-ins, but some of my best trips have been drive to. Although there are trips like the Sutton River, which will basically be impossible to top. -
It puts out a max of 2 amps, that's basically trickle charging. I wouldn't expect it to do much if anything to be honest.
