  1. I just got back from up north. Had a good few days. Trolling bite was on, I lost a giant on a figure 8, buddy couldn't get the net in the water in time. Also had an even bigger fish roll a Suick, come back on it and miss it again. Solid 50in, then 10 mins later the wind dies and the bite stops for the rest of the day. This fish came in at 46, heaviest muskie I've ever held. Super thick everywhere, made that Kawartha fish look like a baby.
  2. Some cheap Rapala knife that's been razor sharp for the past 10 years I've owned it.
  3. The only lake I really wouldn't be fishing muskie in is Balsam. Pike are really taking a strong hold in there. We usually fish Pigeon on opener.
  4. Thanks Lew. It's a nice confidence boost when fish are few and far between in my home waters of Gbay. Off next week to Nipissing to put the hurt on some big girls!
  5. Decided to take a personal day and fish the Kawarthas with a buddy that hasn't been out on the water for years.. Water temps were perfect (low 70's) and the fish were eating. Tied my PB day with 6 muskies in the boat, 3 came unbuttoned... Capped it off with this fat 44 incher that followed earlier in the day but didn't commit.
  6. In the Navionics app, you need to go to the layers option (The icon that looks like 3 sheets on the bottom left) and click 'SonarChart'. Right now you have Nautical Chat selected which won't give you the 1 foot contours. The screenshots I posted above are from the app.
  7. Sunsets are awesome out there! A little tip for next time, don't hold a muskie vertical like that, not good for the fish. Try and keep that belly supported That's a rare bird you caught!
  8. Only going to get better!
  9. $75 to launch and park? LOL that's worse then Simcoe.
  10. It's all charted. What specific maps are you using? Do you have sonarcharts enabled?
  11. I'd use zip ties.
  12. It's all charted on Navionics, which maps are you using and how old are they?
  13. Yup,. too early for the topwater bite, all these fish are schooling shad right now off the drops. Dropshot, jig, spoons, whatever. They weren't picky. Make sure you've got a follow up bait if you're tossing jerkbaits, I can't count the number of fish that would follow hardware in, I'd quickly switch rigs and hook up when I tossed some soft plastic their way.
  14. Gbay muskie are a tough nut to crack, appreciate the tip Dropped you a PM!
  15. Thanks for the words fellas. Muskie definitely are a tough go in Woods. I raised probably the biggest muskie I've ever seen in Blackstone last year, one of those fish that just stuns you. I completely stopped reeling and just stared at it. It didn't come in super hot, so who knows if I could have figured 8'd her but man, there are some great genetics swimming out there that's for sure. Crowman, she was close to Wahsoune I'm sure you've probably tossed a cast at this spot once or twice in those 12 years you no longer up there?
  16. Fun day on the water, the smallies were on the feedbag. Countless doubles, lost a few nice fish, finished the day in the slop. Water levels destroying all my largemouth spots, lol. Raised a big 'ski as well. I'll come back for her in a few weeks.
  17. Closer to the end of the bait = shallow. Further away = deeper.
  18. He hasn't been on this forum in years. I'd ask a local if I were you, bait shop owner, etc.
  19. He's in PAB, this is just outside of Go Home Bay... This isn't the place he's referring to.
  20. 80lb for sure. You can never have too much trolling motor.
  21. 10a auto, should drop down to maintenance (2a) when the battery gets to a high enough charge level.
  22. Always a good day for me on the Mag. Great smallie fishery.
  23. Depends on the water level but I've gone through there a bunch of times with my Lund, no issues.
  24. You'll kill a single battery quick if you're on the trolling motor all day. Your best bet is definitely two batteries, separating your TM battery and the starting/house battery.
  25. Buy the license online, print, done. What am I missing here?
