  1. Give him $125. Linecounters are cheap, Okuma Coldwater or Convector will do the job. Get some 5ft leaders and a few cranks and you're set.
  2. Lure rating on that rod is 2-5oz, you should be just fine. That's what you need to look at. You can land a fish on pretty much anything but tossing lures well outside the rods suggested lure rating will make for a crappy day. Also, you need to think about figure 8s. A longer rod makes this much easier and Kawartha fish will definitely eat on the 8 (Compared to Gbay fish which I find tend to turn away). You also should think about a trolling rod and cheap linecounter. Now is the time to be dragging around baits. Here's a few from this fall to keep this thread exciting.
  3. Are the hull numbers currently registered under you? That needs to be transferred to the new owner. This is basically the ownership and how to government makes sure you've paid the tax.
  4. Picture would help a lot
  5. I've found the only time Nanofil breaks is when it's been nicked on rocks, etc. This is why once the snow flies, I switch over to Fireline Crystal for my float setups. Nanofil definitely has it's time/place however. Love that stuff.
  6. I stocked up on Nanofil when I heard. I've probably got 20+ spools lol.
  7. I hate when companies discontinue great baits. Rapala Flat Rap FLR10 would be a great example. Love those for spring pike.
  8. Most likely chasing bait who in turn is chasing some sort of bug hatch. I've been seeing big largies eating off the surface the past few times I've been muskie fishing.
  9. Might still be some zombies swimming around at the Beaver you can look at.
  10. What do you plan on fishing for?
  11. Only time I use stabilizer is for the last tank of the year. I buy whatever is available. Used Star Tron a few times, no issues.
  12. It's in the exceptions for FMZ 6. Look under waterbodys (Specifically for Lake Nipigon)
  13. A Revo Toro what? S? Beast? Rocket? Kawartha fish aren't giants. If that Veritas is MH at least, you'll be fine.
  14. Brook trout season is over (closes Sept 15th)... Just dropping in and fishing that river without someone who knows it really isn't a good idea. I'd plan your stay better and hire a guide like Gord Ellis for example.
  15. Good news Dave!
  16. Yup, fish are definitely scattered. Once mid Oct hits watch out! If you've still got the rig up on PS, we should drown some big sucker minnows. It's kinda like cheating but man it's fun lol.
  17. Leader. I hate flouro as main line.
  18. Depends on what I'm using it for. I've been using Phantom flouro on my centerpin setups for years (4-8lb), super string and price is right. If I'm spring pike fishing I'll use 30/40lb Seaguar. Everyday bass fishing 20lb whatever. Muskie, unless I'm trolling I've converted over to solid wire for everything.
  19. Brutal. Shut them all down until Nov 1st. Fish populations would explode lol.
  20. Easier to do everything at once so you don't forget. Trailer, engines, etc.
  21. You don't have a trailer you tow this boat with?
  22. A bit over 48. I didn't girth her, I probably should have lol.
  23. Speaking of muskie, ran into one of Gbay big girls.
  24. With all that wasted gas you probably could have hired a guide. That's what I'd do if you want a legit shot at a muskie. Kawarthas is definitely the place to do it, large population of fish. Shouldn't be hard to get into one this time of year.
  25. That's prime time salmon/steehead time. I'd be hitting all the tribs and estuaries if it were me.
