  1. That's prime time salmon/steehead time. I'd be hitting all the tribs and estuaries if it were me.
  2. My Antares AR was a JDM market reel. Shimano in Peterborough had no issues with it. It's basically a Calais.
  3. Yup, that's I'll I run besides the glass/graphite St.Croix Premier trolling rod I've got. Really good bang for the buck, especially when Gagnons had all their St.Croix musky gear for 30% off during the Odyssey.
  4. Send it to Shimano. They have no issues servicing any of my Antares reels.
  5. I wouldn't run a XH rod, especially for Kawartha fish. My fav rd this yeah is a 9'6 Legend Tournament MH. Way more fun fishing this thing then the pool cues I started out with.
  6. That's exactly what it bit, I love those Duo Realis baits.. I found a guy down in the states who makes muskie sized spybaits. Hopefully putting them to work once the water cools down a bit.
  7. One of my biggest muskies to date was on a 4in spybait
  8. That's exactly what you're supposed to do. You'll get bite eventually!
  9. It's basically prime time muskie now through the end of Sept, especially in the Kawarthas. I was out with a buddy last year and we put 8 in the boat and I raised a really nice fish earlier in the day. I went back with something completely different and she ate on the first cast. To me, seeing a fish is as good as catching one. That's half the battle. How warm was the water? At this time of year when the water is in the mid 70s, you can't reel too fast. Great time to burn bucktails and cover a lot of water. If I was fishing the Kawarthas, I'd be either looking for giant cabbage flats, or weeds that drop into deep water (weeds in 8-15ft, dropping into 20+) You'll get fish moving in and out of this cover daily. Also never be afraid to make a cast to the Canadian side of the boat (The deep side) One of the biggest muskies I've ever raised in the Kawarthas came doing exactly this. Good job and keep on casting!!! Also Crowman, Gagnons has 30% off St.Croix musky gear during the Muskie Odyssey. I got three rods this spring, with the discount I got my Premier glass/graphite trolling rod for free
  10. Goodluck, post a report when you get back!
  11. Consistent weather is what I like, that can be sun, rain, wind, whatever. Gimme a 2 day stretch of similar weather and it's go time. Muskie season is just heating up!! Missed two lastnight (Well they missed me, both were at boat strikes). Crapload of stupid pike burning blades. At least something was bending the rod.
  12. Pier 69 I believe is $30 to launch/park. Not awful, but it was $20 last year.
  13. Listen to what Lew tells you lol! Goodluck out there! Headed out this evening/night to do some muskie hunting.
  14. Any leverage style bolt cutter you can use with one hand will do the job for the most part.
  15. Knipex are definitely the goto's. I've got a pair of Kobolts that are like butter through hooks an probably half the price. We'll see how long they hold up! Luckily I really haven't had to cut many hooks out though. Here's a 45in Gbay fish from a few weeks ago.
  16. I wonder if those muskies are in the reeds chasing bullheads after dark. One of their primary food sources..
  17. Find a Total Battery and buy AGMs from them.
  18. Running big bucktails in the prop wash can also work extremely well.
  19. Do yourself a favour and hit the Kawarthas. Gbay isn't a very forgiving place for new muskie anglers. As far as baits. Double 8 bucktail Glides, Dive and Rise (Suick) Spinnerbait (Lubowski, Spanky, etc) Rubber
  20. Nice man!!! I need to get out there soon.
  21. Flutter spoon like a Sutton would be my first choice. Also pump the rod as well..
  22. Reels are meant to get wet I'd let it dry out in the sun and fish it.
  23. The public dock in Fenlon Falls is probably what I'd be using after a quick search.
  24. Definitely not catching a rainbow in Mill. Personally I'd fish the Sound instead.
