  1. Trust me them Deer arnt stupid. They seem to know where there is no hunting allowed.
  2. Does not have to be 5 tournaments thats just a number I thrw out there. Might be a 4 tournament ir three but would have to fish a certian amount.
  3. Mods feel free to add to this if I'm stepping out of bounds here let me know. This would take alot of organizing but can be done from this early. Pre registration would be a given.
  4. Dont need a big boat or anything like that. Just a series, restricted of course that is open to all on OFC. Local lakes would be chosen by OFC members in a polling section and depending on how many tournaments chosen we would then pick the top ones for that amount. It would be a Pro/Am style maybe. Guys would go in as boaters and others would be drawn as non boaters. That way cheating is basically eliminated. Just an idea
  5. This also happens here in Canada. Labrador and Newfoundland in the thick Guweity and Floating bogs we would as kids cut holes in the floating stuff to gain access to large Brook Trout (Mud Trout) but landlocked ones down there. Basically the same. Eskimos do this for Char in the bogs as well. They also do this in the thick stuff in the everglades in Southern US for Catfish etc.
  6. Just boucing some ideas out there for a Tournament series for OFC Members. I was wondering how many guys would like to have a series say like 4 or 5 tournaments . $50 maybe for 2 anglers. Have a classic depnding on the amount of interest and with the blessing of the higer ups. This is very prliminary right now but I could set something up if this generates enough interest. Please post ideas if you have them.
  7. Does your wife know that you cut up her Broom. Great looking baits, just a note. On the jointed one i would taper the back peice in the front as not to hang up to much. Gives it a better action and a smother bait will not hang up in stuff.
  8. Just a note that is someone is interested. These baits are a great choice for Spring Walleye as well as Smallies late fall. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...&hasJS=true These are killer on Quinte Fall and Spring Walleye and at that price why not. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...&hasJS=true Remember that Le Barons has a sale on this week that its no tax and save another 10% with a club membership. Some great deals there for the guys that live here in the East. Fishing World had some great deals on gear and lures as well. We all need to save a little money lately and Xmas is coming up so why not.
  9. I thought that down by the mouth it was open all year round. There is the odd Rainbow that will be in there. Salmon are in there usually because my Beagles bring the buggers home in the fall. I thought the mouth is considered Lake Ontario and you are fine for all year fishing.
  10. That I would actually like to know also. I'm unaware that you cant fish at the mouth. If someone knows that it is closed let me know. I cant find it in the regs.
  11. You were in my backyard. Stay away there is no fish here. There are a few Steelies that come in there but rare. Down by the mouth you will get the odd one. Rouge is a better bet at the mouth right now.
  12. Irish Setter boots are the best. Very comfortable and the mobility with them on all day is excellent.
  13. Just figured that this board would benefit from a deals section somewhere. Or maybe it could be pinned. We all love to find great deals on gear. Just a suggestion guys. Here is one great deal from Lebaron's. Cant beat that price either. http://www.lebaron.ca/pdffiles/web_spec/fe...chna_av_web.pdf Enjoy
  14. I did that back when I was 19 years old. Have not sen my left testicle since.
  15. Yaks are great . I have a Tarpon 140 myself.
  16. Roy, Just a reminder. The hardwired ones have an expiry date on them as well. Look on the back and there is a sticker with the expiry date stamped.
  17. I have been using these for a while now. Love them and protects my rods and handles. Gives me a color coding system for Technique specific rods as well. Very soft on the hands as well. I buy them here now as well. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/descpageRODWRAPW-RODWRP.html
  18. They are both made by Eastman and everything is made in China now.
  19. Same Company. Only problem with them is their zippers. If you are going to buy, coat the zippers in a covering of candle wax to prevent it from breaking.
  20. Kawarthas Muskie I dont measure them. Tend to let them go Quick. I'm 285lbs and 6'3" What would this fish weigh.
  21. The Fish was caught and for some reason died. Very well respected guys as well caught it. Did everything they could to revive it so the guy is going to mount it now. This stuff happens. Nothing wrong with that as far as I'm concerned. 42lbs 7oz, 53" long. No need for fish tales on this one. I'm sure the guy will post if need be. Congrats to the guy who caught it.
  22. You had to go deep. The wind and pressure played a role as well yesterday. Try Jigging spoons around the main lake island next time. Walleye and Bass will not be up near the plant. However try out along the deep weedline that goes from the plant towards the airport. Tough fishing but I managed to boat a few.
  23. I find this time of year the Walleye are very discombobulated. I will go shallow @ night in Backbays as they are chasing Frogs/baitfish and will get them on topwater and jerkbaits fished slow. Then during the day, early in the morning you will still find them close to shallow weedlines till usually about mid morning. The jerkbaits fished low and bigger bodies baits with a narrow profile like a Taildancer or a Jackall Giron style bait will entice them. Then its off to deeper weedlines and holes or deeper sides of underwater humps and points. Then its a jig or Dropshot rig till mid afternoon when they will start to move in again. Trolling is effective during this time of day as ell. You need to fish slow and use wider wobbling action baits. I will also find especially in the Kawarthas that there tends to be a very agressive ambush style of Walleye that hold in shallow water all day and night usually till freezeup. Look for any weed/rock transitions in and around access to deep water. Usually betwen 8-12 FOW. They tend to feel safer there for various reasons. Pike/Muskie will hang there usually as well. These fish will smash a bigger bait every time. They are there to fatten up for the winter and will hit a bigger bait quicker than a slender one. I love the BBZ Shad and OSP Rudra style baits for these times. Remember in this type of situation you will also get them dam Muskie almost all the time. When you do. Move away for 1/2 hour or so, come back and you will usually find that the walleye are more agressive. This is also where you will find them big greenbacks as well. This is trophy time for them.
