  1. Hey Lew, Those are good choices. Granite tends to have a nicer pattern usually. Quartz is also very nice as well. Try looking at the sile Stone products to Lew. I have had all three in houses and they all need to be sealed usually. Its best to make sure any stone is properly sealed. Granite with chip easier then the Quartz and the Silestone. If I were in you rposition I would go with the Quartz. If you want call my wife, she is a Kitchen Designer and ask her opinion. She will tell you more about them and other types as well. 416-283-3166 Press 3 then Press 1 and ask for Michelle. She is off today but will be there tomorrw. Or I can ask her tonight when I get home and let you know.
  2. I will be there all 4 days. Fishing World booth as well as Nories/Ecogear booth. Drop by and say hi. Some really nice unique gear being unveiled by Nories and Ecogear. One is a topwater that is going to take the Topwater market by storm. Very excited about it. Drop by and tell us what you think of it.
  3. I'm running the Dunlops this season and they are great so far. Little bit noisy on the asphalt but otherwise a very nice tire
  4. I was researching it and found that out. Old school way of doing it. These are not wild fish at all.

  6. I grew up doing this. Sealing is a right as well as a way to make a living. I have yet to see a seal wasted. White Coat killed or a seal hit with a club and panched alive. These people tick me off. One idiotic group of sealers blew it all out of proportion when they did panch them alive. That group should have been charged and beaten themselves.
  7. LMAO. To funny. I guess I'm old.
  8. Hey Weeds, This is just a suggestion. Not sure of the budget. Daiwa makes a new reel called the pluton. TD PLUTON 200HL H / MH 8CRBB, 1RB 5.1:1 23.6" 12.00 12/185, 14/155, 17/120 BRAID 20/400, 30/300 13.2 TD PLUTON 200SHL H / MH 8CRBB, 1RB 5.1:1 28.7" 12.00 12/185, 14/155, 17/120 BRAID 20/400, 30/300 11.0 These are a very nice reel and imo this one will last forever for you. Maybe not a nice price range though for most. Usually aroung $400-$450 here in Canada. You can get the power handle. I have these for Swimbaits and Saltwater fishing and love them. You could go with a Luna, TD LUNA 300L XH / MH 5 CRBB, 1RB 5.1 : 1 23.6" 12.90 14/320, 17/245, 20/190 15.4 @15.4 lbs of drag it should handle any musky out there for you. Very smooth reels as well. Cheaper then the Pluton. I have this one as well, little heavy but when going for big game it does an awesome job of tackling them. I have used it for alot of Pike and Saltwater game from Halibut to Cod to Jumpers. Shimano Calcutta reels are amazing as well, They will give you a lifetime of use and now have been disscontinued from what I can gather. I would go for a 400 series. You can order a power handle for all these reels and trust me. When lew stated about the power handle. He is right. Makes a world of difference when using these reels. Some you can order with the reel. To be honest I would prefer a round metal reel. Big baits and heavy gear and line just go together with this. However from my looking at you style of fishing and for comfort I would assume you would like the Abu Toro reel much better. You can even use it for Bassin as well with swimbaits. If I'm not mistaken that when you order the Toro 61-HS model it will come with both the regular speed and the Paddle handle as well. You dont have to order both. Very nice drag and low profile makes for a very nice heavy duty multi application reel. The Daiwa that you were looking for the Saltist as far as I know only comes in a righty. Hope this helps
  9. Hey Cliff, Sturgon Lake is like Balsam pretty much. You have to go against the norm like I have done. I did what you did on Balsam and ended up finding fish out on deeper humps close to flats or Spawning areas. I got them in 31 fow suspended up about 20-22 fow. They will tend to stage in these areas until the water starts to warm a little. Then they will move shallow only in these type of lakes. Look for humps with weedlines on the deeper sides. Remember where they are when spring arrives. Use that as a starting point. Look at a map and look for the closest underwater humps, points etc that pertain to these areas and you should be able to locate them. This is not the case on Scugog.
  10. Hey Ellis, I will send you a PM after on that Swimbait setup. You may want to rethink that reel. Not really a great swimbait reel. Great reel but hard on the wrists afterthrowing them al day. You need the proper rod/reel setup if not you will abandon the technique very quickly. I'm 270 lbs and if fishing the wrong combo i even wind up having a terrible pain in the shoulder and neck. Give me some idea on what you are deciding to fish, suck as TT baits, Matts, Castaic, etc.
  11. I passed being a "Tackle Junkie" years ago.
  12. I'm not a fan of their new reels but my hats of to them for this design. Only time will tell how they perform. This is truely going to be a great year for fishing products. Daiwa's R&D with megabass and Mike switching to Abu Garcia and Pure fishing. I cant wait for icast. Here: http://www.tackletour.com/reviewbigrock10shimano.html
  13. Love it. This one I have not heard yet.
  14. Call ahead of time and check. They can only say yes or no.
  15. I beleive that if he has a passport and he is not the driver he is fine. I could be wrong.
  16. Thats why I shop there. Good on you Nick. I was watching this post for a while and started to think that I'm sure if we were to do a survey we would have equal posts on how someone has treated us wrongly at every store her in Ontario. I have had some with other stores as well. I wont name them as it does not matter everyone will agree you cant make everyone happy. Larger chains however, will tell you that theres the price and theres the door. Always. I find that the smaller stores give you the best service. Also keep in mind that if they are getting a ton of guys who are tire kickers they will get frustrated just like anyone. Maybe thats what happened. I have done so myself. It took alot of guts for him to come on an apologize like that. That can give you some indication on what type of store it is. Remember its not the money all the time. Its the service as well. If you buy stuff there at par with others, I find these guys will teach rather then say see ya.
  17. The guys at the dealership are crazy. I have several vans and I put Mud and Snow tires on each ear with the all seasons going back on in the spring. Those vans are useless in the snow without them. Not only that save yourself the headache of stressing over driving with them. The vans are different then the average vehicle but they are easy to get the hang of after a while. If not carrying to much weight get a couple of old tire tubes. Glue together the ends and wrap them with wire and place some sand inside. Just an extra bit of weight helps those vehicles dramaticly. Easy to take the weight out if ned be. They drive much better with weight in them. No different then a 2wd pickup truck, most guys add weight in them for added traction.
  18. I always had that problem and i did what irishfield said but also ran seafoam or starbrite in the gas. ran like a charm. check their site for better tuning tips.
  19. I have ben up north a few times recently, and I saw a few lakes with open water still and alot with sketchy ice. Thanks for the update.
  20. http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/bassmas...tory?id=4807839 This is one place I would like to fish for sure.
  21. Turn around and run, and run fast. This site is addicting. Watch out for Dawg. Just kidding, Welcome. Quinte you Say. You might get a few PM's this time of year.Lol
  22. Sorry to hear you had bad service. I have never had a problem. Infact I drive all the way from Scarborough just for that reason. They have always went out of their way to give me that kinda service. They will even order stuff for me that they dont carry without any problems. I'm sure if you talk to Blake or one of the guys there they will rectify it for you without any problems. Not true about the Shimano branded store. Remember, they carry what people buy. Customer demand, if people buy mostly shimano then thats what they carry mostly. Remember that Shimano is a well know company and people buy sometimes just because its Shimano. I have my own business and could sell you a generic product for less and just as good and sometimes even better but people buy a name just for that reason sometimes. Marketing is everything. No sense in stocking shelves with product thet will sit and collect dust. They also have most of the very hard to find Japanese gear and stuff we pay a fortune for with cross border shopping. I have bought my fair share then most people and find alot of times I get it cheaper through our local stores, plus you build a relationship with them. I'm sure they will fix your problem for you. Give Blake a PM, he is away this week.
