  1. Its not the line that cuts the guides per say. Its the sand and grit that attaches itself to the line that does the damage. Wash your braid in clean fresh water every once in a while and even the braid wont cut the older guides. I use line conditioner on everything and never have this problem.
  2. I have never advertised here but have used some OFC'ers for various jobs. Great community. I'm a contractor as well and would rather see a job go to one of the board members than to trust outside strangers. I have never been steered wrong yet on this board which I cant say the same for others. Great bunch of guys.
  3. I do it all the time. Love it and have introduced a few OFC'ers to it as well.
  4. Thank you Gentle Men and Roy
  5. I cant seem to find my manual for that motor. Someone here has to know. I was wondering what the proper torque is for the plugs on a 2005 - 175 Optimax. I need to change the plugs tonight. Thanks
  6. I wear them but take them off to handle the bigger fish if needed. I wear the Sun Shade neck scarf as well. I have been wearing them for over 6 years now, my skin is white but I should not have a problem with skin cancer at least. I'm not a wuss either. I have lost 7 people in my family to cancer one was 18 years old, and would rather grow up to watch my children marry. Very cheap insurance if you ask me. They work very well and keep you cool under the hottest of conditions. I have just decided not to wear to much sun screen.
  7. G Loomis JBR753C 6'3". There are four models designed for Jerkbaits. This one is the shorter version of the Med/Hvy they have another 6'9" Model in the Med Hvy. I use the OSP Rudra's and the Asuras with this rod as well as Nories Jerkbaits. Specifically Designed for Jerkbaits. If you dont like the price of this one. There is a GL-2 version like it. Almost exact the same just heavier but not by much. CR723 (GL2) 6'. If you dont ike casting then go with a spinning version of the GL-2 or go to the Bronzeback series and they will have a Jerkbait spinning version there as well. AS for the reels. I like to use a slower reel such as the Daiwa outta luck baitcaster or a 6 sped Zillion. I generally use the 5 speed outta luck. Usually a best suited reel for all use would be a 6 speed reel. I have 4 of these setups with half with Braid for rippin and the other half with Floro. I usually go mid way between the rod rating for line . The same goes for the lure weight. I find I get the best performance with going half way.
  8. Wow. My beagles were barking this morning around 6am and when I get up to se what all the barking was about, what do I see. 2 huge turkeys in my front yard. I have seen a bunch of wildlife here lately. So now I have rabbits, deer, coyotes, turkeys and fox. Funny thing is they are usually in twos and near my boat.
  9. I use Berkley Gulp Leeches, Bass Magnet minnows, Nories and Ecogear Lady fish, and the Flat Fat. Jckall has a very nice one, OSP has a new one on the Market right now. I will dropshot just about anything including Fplastic frogs. Strike Zoze has some very nice products and as stated coming out with some very nice stuff soon. Worms, even the 10" VERSIONS i WILL DROPSHOT IN SHALLOW WATER.
  10. All mine were done with GPS and also Smartcraft guages. I now have it connected to my Lowrance HDS on front and Back as well. The speedo's on boats suck, the digital Smartcraft are very good but costly. . Takes alot of time to figure out how your boat runs. I have three props for different situations. One for Just me fishing with normal load. One for crusiin and water sports and ne for Tournaments Loads and hole shot. Took me a long time to get it there but works fine for me. 2 of my props have been blueprinted and worked to achive this and I will leave the dollar amount alone as some will figure I have issues.
  11. Thats awesome. I read them wrong, nothing strange. Lol. I thought you were not allowed to keep anything over but 3 under 12.5 inches with a sport licence. Thanks for clearin that up.
  12. My 16 month old Daughter (Rylea) is in training. I love being a Dad, its awesome. Tought at first but will love it hopefully. 6 monts old they kinda give you the same stare back as the fish
  13. Remember Balsam/Mitchell lake you cant keep anything over anymore. Special regs for there.
  14. I once had a smaller bass boat with a 90 horse. Factory settings the boat ran 45mph tops. When I ws done that summer I was getting 62,5mph WOT. Takes a while to find a sweet spot for any boat/motor combo. I'm working on my other one now and gaining with every new prop. Costlt though to buy new. Try buying used no matter what. Lots of places online to find them. Weight configuration in your boat will play a huge part in speed. I would not leave batteries up front. Will be hard to trim up with extra weight. I would place them in the back and wire them up that way. Your motor may be t low but it sounds like your prop. With batteries up front and gear the boat is bogging and pushing to uch water. Lots of variables. Get the weight out of the front first and start playing with props.
  15. This is going to be a long summer. LMAO
  16. I just picked mine up at Fishingworld in Hamilton. Sorry, I may have bought to many. They also have the Paycheck hooks to match . Cant wait for next weekend. I usually find all that hard to find stuff there as Blake brings it in all the time. This is gonna be a good year for Mats. They also have the Basstrix swimbaits and the Buckeye Mop Jigs but they wont be there long. I'm going out again this week.
  17. Mike if you want to use a Loomis rod. Let me know. I'm up on Scugog alot and thats all I fish with. I dont buy them just because I can. Trust me when I say I grew up using Bamboo poles and telescopic rods that would fit in a Trout basket. I still know my roots. I still have 2 custom made Bamboo poles for Brookies and Panfish that I use often. Sinker is right when he stated that fancy rods dont catch bigger fish. I know alot of guys that have spent their life savings basically on high end rods that they have no clue how to fish with. But they look good on the boat. However Fancy rods do make it more easier to refine a technique when its that specefic rod for that specefic technique. I have used most rods made and have just become accustomed to Loomis as I find they have the best feel for me. In my experience I found that the lightest rods are not always the best, usually unbalanced and cause alot of fatigue on the arms. Lightese is not always the best when it comes to baitcasters. However with that said. A rod needs to be perfectly balanced no matter what it is. I usually spend a day on the water after I buy a new rod with different reels and different line combos trying to find the best possible fit for that rod. Before you say it, yes I have a problem. But in doing so I find the best possible line, rod, reel, combo that I can. I spend alot of time on the water and with properly balanced combos I can come home not feeling tired from using them. After all whats the sense of buying a high end combo to look good when you have to go home and ice your arm after a day of fishing.
  18. This year for me has been different then most. I beleive the Walleye are about 5-6 weeks ahead of the spawn this year. This has not happened in a number of years like it has this year. I find the Walleye relating to structure now that they would be by 1 week in July. Where are you fishing for them. To be honest I have had my best year so far and not just in one reigion either. I'm getting tons in the 6-8 ft mark on the Kawarthas.
  19. Mr Harris had a tough job to do and did a dam good one at that. Got rid of all that Fat Cat type of spending and made a solid foundation or at least attempted to do so until the Non Essential unions that we do not need anymore and cry babies voted him out. Now we have a socialist Jackass that only the rich enjoy having around and continues to screw us. It seemed to be only the people who had their hand in the perverbial cookie jar were the ones who had a problem with him because they were all caught with crumbs on the corners of their mouths.
  20. Mike, Icast is in Vegas. It was in Florida last year for the first time but is gone back to Vegas. You also have the Big rock show and the Fred Hall show each year as well. There are a few more. I will get the names for you soon
  21. I have several of them and they are sweet reels for sure. Little better than the outta luck IMO. I have both and the Caldia is much smoother.
  22. Wow!!! So sorry to hear that Stoty. Thats a nasty Disease. I have lost several family members to it. So sorry to hear about your Mom bud. That cant be easy at all. Glad to hear she never let the Disease get the better of her. Seems like a strong Woman. Nice tribute to her as well. My thoughts and prayers from Family to yours bud.
  23. I read and have seen them in action. But at the price they are charging thats a little steep even for me. I dont think they are going to last the full time they state. If they do, awesome. I wont even keep a boat that long. Not going to give them batteries if I sell my boat so need to but others to take their place. They are usually installed on bigger Cabin Cruiser style boats anyways
