  1. I fish alot of goby style baits. I also use a new product that came out last yer that makes them swim like they are real. Its made by Buckeye Lures and its called the Goby Sled.
  2. That would mean alot of us will or should be fishing for free. LMAO
  3. I have the 27b's. Great batteries. I run them hard and alot. They take a beating. I have blown 3 Optimas so far. They never lasted like these. Another great battery is the Natualius from Crappy Tire. They work just as good. The Odyssey batteries are $500 a pop. That would cost me 0ver $3000 just for batteries. I looked at them but so far I will stick with these. Lol. I find that the harder you run these the better they work. If you maintain any battery the proper way they will last for years. One quick note is that you should charge them as soon as possible and not let them sit to long drained like alot of people do.
  4. Under 18 years and over 65 you dont need a licence. If you are disabled you dont need one. You do however need to carry a copy of your permit or something thats states you are disabled plus your ID. Both my parents do this when out with me and have been checked several times.
  5. Come over to look at my setup bud. I have the 27 series from Interstate (Green Top). These are the best I have found so far. Also I found that mount you were looking for. I just found it for you. I also have the 1000 CCA from Interstate ordered now again. I use them a ton with a MInnkota 101 and can go a long time on one charge. I usually go 2 days if needed. Call me to set up a time for you to grab that mount
  6. The Kawarthas are a different type of fishing. When you go up North to those Tanic stained waters you need to think differently. Fish relate like big water fish do on the Great lakes up there. Shallow water fish like ut of Balsam will generally stay close to shallow water weedlines however you will find them deep but not usually in the spring. A lake like Baptiste this time of year as the weeds tend to take much longer and the Regular Kawarthas style of fishing does not heat up to par on this style of deep lake until mid June. I got fish in 18-25 FOW and found a few hugging close to any green growth they could. Most were chasing Baitfish and Hangin out in deeper more secure structured areas. Rock piles and sand/Gravel areas in about 18-20 FOW will be good areas to start now and still will be for 2 weeks maybe. The water is still very cold there. Kawarthas are on fire right now and will be till 1st week in june. Then they are stationed in their holding areas and wont travel much.
  7. I had a tough time finding them in Haliburtons these last 2 days. Ended up finding them in open water schooled up on drop offs adjacent to spawning areas. Yes, there is very little growth for this time of year but weeds dont only need sunshine to ghrow they need water temps to be up. I could not find any water above 53 tops in the last 2 days. Did very well for the trout Today. Bigger lakes you will find Walleye on Gravel waiting to spawn, they dont need current to do so. They will stage on or close to these areas. After spawn they will hold tight to thes areas and roam close by feding but still packed until they can spread out in weeds and weedlines.
  8. Jackie, When I get back on Tuesday. I will come over and fix it for free for you. Very easy fix. Just go to Crappy Tire or a Marina and buy 6 ft of that type of pull cord and I will have it all done in about 15 minutes. Call me on my cell on Monday evening
  9. I will be up there chasing them this wekend for opener in Zone 15 as well. I fish for them the same as I do for Brookies. Stelth approach is the key and long distance casting also. Small spinners, little crankbaits and smaller jigs work best for me. Good luck and happy opener.
  10. I'm to afraid to post pics of my baits. Tj and Roy may just try and have me commited.
  11. Me to. Since 4 years old. Still get out some
  12. Hey bud, That suks. We had a ton of OOS Bass as well. Trailer problems are not fun at all. Last year I had 2 broken tires on opener and a damaged spindle. I now carry more trailer stuff than I do gear. Lol.
  13. That could be the problem. Batteries wired up wrong. These motors do loose their umph like anything else. I burned up one last year from use. I was just have it serviced. Much cheaper than replacing. Grant Mills at Boat Tech in Pickering does a great job of that. Aikmens does also. Most likely needs the bearings replaced or just contacts maybe need cleaning. I have mine serviced every off season so that they are fine. Could just be the hook ups need to be cleaned. I do this each year. Even the plate contact under the pedal I have cleaned to make sure all contacts are clean and free of gunk.
  14. The lure in question is a "NORIES" In The Bait Series lure. Probally one of the best Walleye baits I have ever run in cold weather. When the temp goes down this bait shines even better. The other is the Grant Koppers Perch bait. I dont leave home for Walleye without these. I dont post numbers of fish anymore for the sake of not starting arguments but we did really well. One of my best openers yet beleive it or not. Yes I'm sponsored by Nories but the reason for this is there baits just plain and simple catch fish. I do not ever suggest a product if it does not catch fish. These are also deadly Laker baits. The new HDS systems to be honest have been the hardest units for me to get adjusted to. The structure you se in the screen is rocks and sand, I was just showing the lack of weeds. I'm planning on doing a few screen shots of the units soon to post a report on how they interpet different structure. Trust me when I say that these units are the Kats Ass of electronics bar none. I love these and the clarity of them are amazing. They show bottom structure like never before. The new Structure Scan is just out of this world. This coming weekend I will be in Haliburtons chasing Walleye and Trout. Maybe get into some nice Pike as well. I'm anxious at how these units will show in those deep Tanic style lakes. Should be a fun weekend. I hear the water is still low and that means shallow lakers.
  15. Well after 4 people dropping out of our 17 year running Walleye opener adventure me and another board member JeffW decided to take a crack at them Walleye on Balsam. I was going anyways rain or shine. We got a ton of fish but had to work for them including a mess of larger Pike. Never got alot of Pics as the weather only allowed us to have about a 1/2 hour of somewhat clear skies and that was it. We got Snow, sleet, hail, relentless amounts of Rain and Wind. This was the first time I had ever had to take my time coming across Balsam not on Plane due to the wind. All in All we still had a blast fishing. Would never miss an opener. We never got a ton of pics as I'm still awaiting for my Camera waterproof case, I dont want to ruin a $2000 Camera. JeffW One of the secret weaopns that day Gotta give props to G Loomis for their new Deep-Flex line of rods. Best crankbait rod I have ever owned. Look at that Parabolic arch. You couldnt throw a fish if you tried of these sticks. You can see the temps and lack of weed growth for this time of year. I thought there would be more growth. Sadly where ever we found nice green weeds, there wer Walleye but also them darn Pike as well. I would suggest to everyone to take them home for Tablefare. Should be a good after opener this coming weekend.
  16. I'm with ya Sinker. I have rain gear, thermos, and a hankering to land some fish. Good luck to all tomorrow.
  17. Snagproof also makes a frog rod in the Bassmedics line. Super nice rods. Also Rapala R Type Med/Hvy Baitcaster makes for a very nice from rod as well.
  18. I'm using G Loomis frog rods.
  19. You can PM me if you wish or call me. I'm about to go through a Lawyer about Tracker. Just getting all my ducks in line. My problem has been going on for 4 years now. They have changed 3 managers since. They are a very crafty group. Even drilled a hole in my block once. I wont say anything further. Here is my cell # b647-206-6278
  20. Fishing World has the biggest selection and some rare colors left in them as well.
  21. I have been buying from them since they opened. Just got a parcel from them yesterday. They are very legit.
  22. Its open this friday night 12 am. Balsam, Mitchell and Gull river system have exceptions other than the regular rules. Keep note of this. Some area are sanctuaries until 3rd saturday but its a go elsewhere in zone 17
  23. I use all kinds of frogs,My favorite so far has to be the Nories, NF60 frog. The last 2 seasons my hookup ratio was amazing. This was because of the body design and the plastic. These seem unscathed by fish as well. They last much longer then the others I have. I have every Spro frog made right now as well. You have to adjust the Spro frogs hook angle usually to get better hook ups. The River 2 Sea frogs are very nice but fall apart was to quick. Hookup ratio on the Bully Wa from River 2 Sea is better than the Spro. However with a few mods the Spro is deadly as well. I use a few tricks to enhance them as well. I add rattles to most frogs. I also use that Megastrike gel scent and cover the frog with it as it tends to slide over the pads easier and if you place some in the holes it seals it as well, plus it helps with the delay in striking the fish as they tend to hold onto it longer. Another trick I use is to take my braid line and run about 100 ft of it thrugh melted candle wax and wipe it off. This allows the line to float and slide through the junk better. I also modify some by trimming skirts, adding weights, removing skirt material legs and adding soft plastic worms or spinner blades for open water. Tons of tricks you can use for these things. For every frog I use I have 2 more in cases modified. I love Frog fishing as you can tell. I have not even mentioned the other frogs I have. Not enough time. They all work well and have a place at times but so far the Nories has been the best one.
  24. I have been raving about these since they first came out and were not that well known. I cant say enough good about them. I catch a ton of fish on them but like JP stated. Every one lure has a place and a time. I find that these have to be fished the same way as the baitfish you are imitating. If not they are not that effective. However, presented at the right time these will out fish anything. I alwaya have one or 2 maybe 3 sometimes while fishing.
