  1. I have a Finbore III 6" as well. Works great for me. My buddy has some 8" models as well, both the collapsible and the standard one (might be Mora, not sure). They all work great. However, it's really all about taking care of your blades. I dry mine off after every trip and spray them with some cooking oil. Definitely try not to bang them around as mentioned. I prefer fishing out of 8" (or even 12") holes, but I prefer cutting 6" holes =)
  2. I'd do that ^^ but with a second adjacent hole jigging a large silver spoon. Sonar makes it work though.
  3. I did not make this video. I came across it while researching my summer 2013 trip. This is one of the places on my short list (Granite Hill Lodge). I thought it was a good video and figured I would share it to help you all with the winter blues.
  4. Ya, I went last week and was skunked too =( People around me were catching. Buddy went up today as well and landed 2 lakers. Not sure what else. At least ya got out =) Where did you head out from?
  5. Glad they made it out OK. Must have been a pretty scary ordeal, especially with a young one with them.
  6. T.J.'s Hookers?
  7. I am surprised since they put all that advertising in it now.
  8. Nice! Definitely what ice fishing is all about. I am hoping to find a private cottage on a splake lake this season for a nice ice fishing weekender.
  9. Good luck on your mission! I think that's a really tough way to do it, but I do hope it works out for you.
  10. Ya, they are pretty neat. I think someone also rents one out on Simcoe. I would love to get myself an Argo though.
  11. Thanks for the report! Looks like you all had a great time. It reminds me of my brother and I when we were young. We're in our 40's now and we still are doing the fishing trips with our father. I am sure it will be the same for you guys.
  12. If you feel your agent is bullying you it's time for a new agent. They should do nothing but provide information to you, not try to sell you on something. Look at the neighbors yards. If it's full of crap and not maintained, move on. Talking to your potential neighbors is a good idea too. Make sure to ask the agent representing the house about grow-ops and other odd things. I almost bought a house that someone took their life in. The agents typically won't disclose that kind of information unless you ask or really look into the details on paper. Things like that can make it impossible to resell your house. Definitely get an inspector. I don't know how much collusion their is if they are recommended from your agent. You already signed an agreement with your agent so if you're going to buy a house it will happen regardless of what they do. So, they should be honest about it. The bigger problem is the inspectors aren't really regulated and take absolutely no responsibility if they were wrong or miss something. So, as mentioned, educate your self a bit and do your own inspection. Turn on taps, check electrical, look for stains/cracks, loose/curled shingles, etc.. Ask about flooding as well. I think their is a way to find out if their has ever been any insurance claims for flooding, but I never did that myself. Some people don't like to live near a lot of electrical lines or cell phone towers as well. So for resale those might be a consideration. Good luck!
  13. Good stuff! I hope my subscription is still active. Sorry to hear about your uncles health. All the best to you and your family.
  14. Thanks for the info. We went up for the weekend and there was 8" of ice where we were.
  15. Anyone have information on ice conditions on Lake Bernard? Might head up, but it's always nice to have first hand reports. Thanks.
  16. You live the good life! Thanks for putting the review together. Always enjoy going through them.
  17. Hmmm, are you holding up a finger under there??!?!? Nothing like man-made snow!
  18. Here is the contact information I have. edit: I wasn't able to post the website and email. 416-850-4560 The website doesn't seem to be operational any longer though. If you can't find them, I think the Magz Bad Boys are just as good.
  19. I never bothered with winter tires when I lived in Toronto, but when I moved to London I purchased a set. As mentioned already, I only see this as a positive move.
  20. Wow, that's insane. Never would have imagined.
  21. It's possible that Cooks Bay or Couchiching might have 4" by then, but I wouldn't bank on it. You'll probably have to head further north.
  22. I use Teksavvy for HS internet.
  23. Just look at other animals. I have a feeling the underlying population genetics will be very similar. Fish aren't anything special.
  24. I use three different sizes. Most of the time I use with the middle sized one (sorry forget the exact dimensions). I tend to use the nickel and gold finish, but I have a few others that work. My all-time favorite perch jig. I use it with various Gulp products with excellent results. Biggest problem can be finding them.
  25. Haven't even started looking yet. Not sure where I want to try this year. That price is really cheap though!
