It's basically just Cut and Paste...Grin.
adempsey replied to Garry2Rs's topic in General Discussion
I know people who prefer the foam handles. Hard to find a high quality rod with them though. -
For the Beaver Dam tip-ups I also basically do what you described but with 6-8ft leader. Sometimes I use a slip sinker; and sometimes I put a second hook on, either "drop shot" style or with a short leader tied directly. I've also used trebles, but primarily stick with single hooks. Never tried using a three-way swivel but might be worth a try., as long as it's not too long since I assume it would get really tangled up. I also tried that striker style rig they were using on Uncut Angling with a large bait. It's basically two #4 trebles, with one tied directly to the leader and the second tied to the first hook with a small piece of mono. I had no takers, but only tried it one day .

Odd, he lives right behind me, lol! I could check it out for you, but I can't say I know anything about motors. I am also heading to Toronto on Friday the 15th in the evening on my way for a weekend in Huntsville.

Emerald Ash Borer Beetle control, pictures NF,
adempsey replied to chris.brock's topic in General Discussion
Went through my whole neighborhood last year. No ash trees remain. They replaced them all though. -
I make sure to do that dance before I hit the ice, otherwise I know there could be trouble.

This is all you'll need (J50 - the smallest one): You can always use minnows too.

Definitely try a few brands and models. There are plenty - Helly Hansen, Mustang, Salus, IDI Arctic Armor, Stearns, Striker Ice, Nautilus. I have the Helly Hansen Alpha One and really like it. Was cheaper than the Mustang suits and has a lot of features. I look like an idiot in it, but don't really care because the ladies like me for my personality, lol.

Is there a way to keep HONEY a liquid? NF
adempsey replied to mike rousseau's topic in General Discussion
Can you make a pre-mix with the honey and store that? Could make a few batches of that. That should reduce the number of times you have to reheat the honey at least. -
I bet if there were trout under there, people would still try fishing it. Pretty cool video though! Going to have to find the full movie.

Nice fish! Looking forward to getting out there myself.

The whole idea that they are allowed to pick and choose "when" they should rescue someone is abhorrent. Totally unacceptable. People are stupid and do stupid things all the time. Those mistakes put rescue workers in peril every single day. This isn't a new thing nor will it ever change. Centering out one risky activity from the other is just unethical. I love this quote from that article: Just unbelievable.

Weekend Report, Lake Simcoe - Laker Mayhem.

Beauty Lakers! Thanks for posting. Think I'll wait for 2 more inches though =) -
Nice fish! Can't wait to make up for last year myself.

This is happening far too often and very little seems to be being done about it. I found this article disturbing too. Basically three officers beat the crap out of some old guy. Guess what? All officers innocent, old man charged. To top it off one of those officers was previously charged with discreditable conduct under the Police Services Act after being accused of allowing a drunken female to play with his loaded gun in exchange for a date. He was also previously charged with impaired driving, but the case was thrown out because the judge ruled it took too long to get to trial. What the hell is going on? What would drive these people to do this?

Fishing a Haliburton back lake this weekend...
adempsey replied to castgame's topic in General Discussion
Nice report and photos! Looks like a good time to me! Too bad no fish. That's the story of my life though, lol. Still doesn't lower my enthusiasm one bit! Looking at the depth map of that lake it looks like a tough one for Splake IMO. It's fairly deep. Not sure where I would start. I see a few points that drop off pretty fast, so I'd probably start with those in <10 FOW. My experience (in fall at least ) is similar to what Irishfield said. They seem to just make laps around the lake or something because the fish are there for a bit and then vanish. -
I used to primarily use Gary Yamamoto and Kinami single tail grubs. Slowly I've migrated over to Yum and Kalins. They are cheaper and effective. Even so, I really like the Yamamoto's a lot and still pick up a couple of my favorite colors - when I can find them. Also, I stocked up on the Yum just before they reduced the package count down to 15 from 25. So I have a ton of them, lol. If I were to make grubs for sale, I'd make some unique colors. Otherwise it's going to be hard to stand out.

Looking for Drive To Outpost in Central ON
adempsey replied to MrSimon's topic in General Discussion
I think you will be hard pressed to find anything that's secluded and you can drive-to it without an ATV. You might be able to rent a private cottage that fits that description though. -
You should mention that you can choose more than one option.

Not familiar with the Quebec regs. There should be some info on www.kipawa.net.

That's 7.5 Amp Hours not 7 Amps. It indicates how much energy your battery can store and deliver over a period of time. I bought a 9 Amp hour battery for my sonar so it operates for a longer period of time. All my finders have come with the 7.5Ah batteries. Vexilar flashers (and maybe others) I believe come with 9Ah batteries.

Personally, I would be fine with a 2 walleye possession limit. As long as I can keep fishing, I am good.

Some guy was ice fishing for perch and pulled this up. Good grief! Watch the video on CNN here

I like all the superlines. However, I've never had one that didn't freeze up. I've tried line conditioner as well, didn't seem to help much. I always manage though. Maybe I'll try the Tuf-Line as well.
