  1. As some of you may have read of my plans to go to algonquin in July for a 3 day camping trip, I plan for the return route to exit out on the east side and explore the routes on that side on the way back to Oakville. So far, I have found the following places of interest, but would like to know if they are worth checking out or if I should skip it. Please keep in mind that I am travelling with my wife and 2 young girls so something family friendly. 1) Lake St Peter Provincial Park 2)Silent Lake Provincial Park 3) Egan chutes provincial park 4)Burleigh falls 5)Wolf Island provincial park. 6)Petroglyphs provincial park Prefer to see something with a wow factor to it as oppose to something that might be similar to what I probably will already see in Algonquin. Thanks!!
  2. Thanks for sharing. Dad's always catch the numbers. I remember when we were we use to visit my grand uncle in sault ste marie and my dad use to catch on every cast! pretty opposite for me
  3. thanks to everyone who has replied. I have been watching videos and reading about the snap weight method and that seems to be the best option and most cost effective. I also like smitty55 recommendation to try the fishseeker. I believe I can get the inflatable moving at a decent speed although it will be a workout lol, but if it means fish on, it will be worth it. I will post a report when I get back from the trip for sure.
  4. Great report! Reminds me of my trip to Manitoulin/Sault Ste Marie last year which was not at all a fishing trip ( only one fish caught lol) Wish I went all the to Agawa bay, but after reading your post Andrew, I think a redo of the trip is a must in the near future. And I am not surprised Chris lent his boat to Andrew. Both are great guys!
  5. Thanks. I always did wonder about that lake, and access is very easy it seems.
  6. Anyone been to Sunday Lake? If so, how far is the walk from the hwy 60? According to google maps, there seems to be a road going there from the parking lot on Hwy 60. Also is it a steep slope to the water of is it pretty level access?
  7. Thanks for the heads up MJL. I am still not too comfortable with a canoe so I know I will definitely get a good upper body workout paddling the inflatable, but that is ok. Just have to make sure its not windy when I head out. Yes option B as you mentioned will be to target smallmouth bass.
  8. Thanks for the tips Chris. I believe no live bait in Algonquin but wondering if frozen minnow are allowed where it calls for no live bait?
  9. Originally my plan was to try bottom bouncing or 3 way. I will try those first, especially the keel weight idea. Thanks
  10. Do you suggest dipsy divers? I am pretty new to trolling so would love to give either dipsy divers of jet divers a try. I read that jet divers float when not moving so I believe that may be a better option when paddling. Also what color lures do you suggest for algonquin waters? I know the water is mainly tea stained.
  11. We are heading out to Algonquin beginning of July and hoping to fish for some lake trout. I understand they will be deep at this time of the year, but hope with some tips I can locate them and have a successful outing. We are staying at canisbay so will mainly try there but will try other lakes as well. I do have a big inflatable boat , intex seahawk 4 (which is very stable btw) and a fish finder (lowrance x4 pro). The plan is to find them on fishfinder and perhaps jig for them. I do not have a motor on the boat so if you would like to recommend a certain lake, smaller lakes that are not too far off the hwy 60. Also please recommend what tackle I should have with me. Thanks
  12. Met him once in the Soo! Great guy! congrats Tyler!
  13. email Luke from wasstours.com I am sure he can help you out.
  14. Great report! I guess sometimes change of plans is what it takes for a great day of fishing!
  15. Read every word of it and watched the videos. Looks like a great time you guys had. Wish someday I can do the same. Thanks for sharing!
  16. I second that! Andrew is a great guy and I got to see the cooler seat cushions he had on his boat that his wife made. I though they were professionally made until he told me his wife made them!
  17. switched apps from environment canada to wunderground and seems like the rain will finish before we arrive the campground. hopefully it decides to stay that way . Wunderground app is pretty nice in comparison and it gives hourly weather days in advance. Pretty cool.
  18. Wow great information here. I always thought weather canada and weathernetwork would be better than wunderground and accuweather.
  19. Which one is more accurate? I am planning to go camping this Thursday/Friday and the weather network says there is 70% chance of rain and weather.gc.ca says 30% chance of rain. Obviously I understand Canadian weather is unpredictable but from experience, which one do you guys find more accurate? Thanks
  20. Although I haven't fished it, but Six Mile lake seems nice and the area is beautiful.
  21. I totally agree! Andrew is a great guy and a great fisherman. His knowledge and attention to detail and safety as well as all the other little things impressed me. I learned a lot yesterday. Thanks! Now time for me to improve my boating skills.
  22. It was trip of a lifetime! I have been trying for years to get my first Salmon and with your help today Andrew, that first one was one I will never forget! My arms will feel it tomorrow I am sure, but totally worth it! The second one also was no little fish! Likewise, it was a pleasure to meet you and looking forward to do it again sometime! Wishing you all the best!
  23. I have seen india traffic first hand. Its crazy
