Doesn't Edmonton have speed cameras all over the city?

the ladies always catch the big fish! Way to go!

Not too sure on the water depth. I was only there for a hour and that was the first time, but the current is pretty strong even though it seems like its not moving much. Next time I will try casting and retrieving some heavier jigs and spoons.
-
I am pretty sure I had 3 oz at one point and it still was able to push it back to shore. I think your idea of using a jighead is probably what I will try next time.

Thanks for the tips. Manitoubass, I was mainly looking for walleye since I heard they are usually in the area.

I head out to fort Erie a few days ago partly because I was itching to go for a drive as the weather is nice, and partly because I heard good things about Niagara river fishing. Upon arriving there, I noticed that the water current is very similar to that at Port Dalhousie where it flows one way along one shore and the other way on the side with the water in between having relatively less flow. Anyways I cast into it as far as I could (probably 60 feet) with my 6.6 ft rod and even after adding 3 oz of weight on my pickeral rig, it would quickly drift back to shore . I figured 3 oz was too heavy to be casting continuously so I left just a 1 oz sinker on it and cast to my 10 oclock and slowly started reeling in bottom bouncing it the whole way back I'm Not sure if this is the only way to fish the current. I found a lot of holes in the ground where people obviously would stake their rods waiting for a bite, but how exactly do they do that when it will just flow back to shore. Or they use some other type of setup or heavier sinker? In the end, I saw a lot of fish surfacing (not sure what they were) but didn't catch anything in the hour I was there. Thanks

Awesome pics! The bike looks salvageable!

I am interested in this thread as well. Are there any pike in the river leading to east lake in sandbanks? seems like its shallow and has weeds.

Thanks!

I haven't gone yet due to the weather (winds mainly). It's a little too far for me to be guessing the conditions, so the weather network is my new best friend. Also learning quite a bit about wind speeds and directions and their effects on water conditions.

+1 on costco batteries. IMO the best!

It's an honor to make history with this type of thread lol. Although I think I might actually be the second on this forum. In my search, I found a similar thread from a while back. Honestly though, If bass season opened up any earlier , and if the walleye and perch were there, I probably wouldn't be asking how to catch sheephead.

Thanks for the replies. Its a little windy today so plans might change but I will report back when I do go. Thanks again!

I was hoping to get out to port maitland yesterday but the weather forecast kept calling for rain from around 6pm. The rain did decide to come but a lot later (midnight I think ) so those plans didn't go through. Anyways, the plan is to go today since I heard there are sheepshead and catfish there right now and this is the only day I am off work. Any fish is better than no fish but hoping mainly for sheepshead and hopefully get into some bonus perch or walleye if they decide to join the party! So a few questions I have for you guys as follows: 1) With the torrential downpour last night, will it affect the fishing for sheepshead? 2) I was planning to just use a pickeral rig with some gulp minnows on it. Want to avoid worms because of gobies. Is this a ok choice or should I bait up with something else? 3) cast into the river side or lake side? 4) Any other recommendations? Thanks

In need of help this weekend onsite from a mechanic

when you say burning up, are they heating up or just squealing? what kind of truck is it? -
I don't doubt you. It looks like this one I took a photo of last fall caught by someone at a local creek. I am sure the one in my photo is a salmon, chinook perhaps. I am still learning to differentiate them
-
Isn't that salmon? Didn't know they come up this time even if a little late or a little too early. If that is the same creek I go to once in a while, then I saw a nice lonely steelhead there last week around the same size you mentioned. Once it saw me, it started playing dead lol and let the current carry it back into the rapids.

Yes I know the ideal boat is a 12 foot tinny, but with space constraints, and with this inflatable having great reviews, I decided to buy one and see how it does. It is rated for 880 lbs which is plenty and can take a 2 hp motor. I will probably be using a trolling motor in the near future but for now will just be paddling fsince I don't plan to use it on bigger size lakes yet until I am comfortable with it and until I get my operator's license for motor use. So far I have gotten the following: 1)life jackets, 2)safety kit (orange bucket thingy) 3)patch kit 4)duct tape 5)paddles 6)hand pump which is surprisingly quick. I can pump the whole boat which is close to 11 feet in less than 10 mins single handed! 7)fish finder 8) rod holders (already on boat) Things I am considering getting and can use you folk's advice 1)Anchor (homemade ideas are fine) 2)seat ideas that can be put on top of the vinyl floor. the boat comes with inflatable pillows as seats but I am sure they will not be very comfortable . Freshtrax's cooler seat idea is great! 3) Advice on anything else I am missing out or may need. Thanks

nice! Its always nice to have someone that knows how to use a sewing machine.

speechless! Amazing work!

Volvo FTW!

Thanks for the advice. In the end, I think it's best to find the fish and start jigging like Chris mentioned

What do you guys say about about cattail sinkers? I heard that they are pretty snag proof. And as for the the point that lakers feed upwards, if using bottom bouncing with a 3 way rig, how much line do you guys keep from the 3 way to the sinker and to the lure considering the lakers are sitting on the bottom. The reason I am asking about cattail sinkers is suppose you are paddling instead of using a motor and cannot keep a steady speed.
