7' shimano crucial med action, got some good backbone and still has a very soft tip to detect light bites, and talk about sensitive!

ive been tying up mouse patterns for a while this winter, they work great on bass, pike, and ive heard browns love them too. for the ears i use a piece or rabbit hide cut to shape and i do the same for the tail. the picture i have was taken with my cell phone so the quality is really bad but it gives u an idea, i just finished this one.

6'6" shimano compre- great rod i found, ive only used it for walleye so far and it is super sensitive 7'0 shimano crucial- by far my fav spining rod, used it plenty of times for those giant simcoe bass, some hawg river walleyes, i even got a 6.75 lbs largie on it fishin smallies. 7'6" fenwick hmg flippin stick- great rod for largies in the thick stuff shimano symetrye (sp??) 2500- paired it up with the new compre abu garcia 802 spinning reel- was a good reel untill the anit reverse went on it after a few months lol. john spahr float reel- picked up this little beauty at simcoe bait and tackle from little john himself lol, has been great and is my first float reel, i would recomend this reel to anyone! BARE cutthrought waders great waders TONS of lures (to many to name) its been an expensive year lol

i made an ulta light rod this year and i love it. it was a st.crox blank and all st.croix components. i find it just as sensitive as my other rods and i like it because i built it!! its just why i like 2 tie my own flies, it is interesting to catch a fish on somthing i made. i would like to start making more of them.

well during the auction for Tyler last winter, tinbanger bid on a full day charter on either lake ontario for salmon or the Bay Of Quinte in the fall for walleye with U and Me charters U and ME fishing charters. well tinbanger won the bidding and now we had to decide on when to go? summer salmon and trout, or cold fall and GIANT walleye lol. so after having to cancel one saturday due to the horrible weather we got fishing the next sunday! tinbanger and i were so stoked about this trip we could hardly wait. although our day started with cell phone time being adjusted back one hour resulting in us waking at 5:30 am in Kingston ...the time we were to be on the road to picton Out of the house in 5 minutes with one stop for coffee ( UGH ! McDonalds coffee) we met up with Lloyd at the picton marina at 6:30 and were on the water instantly. the morning was nice, not to windy but it was sure cold out, glad we brought the floater suits lol. this would be our first time really fishing for BOQ walleye, we were hoping to learn a few things out there. But we were'nt expecting to learn so much! shortly after all the lines are set the one rigger gets a hit but no hookup, i told tinbanger he could have first fish but he kept disagreeing with me lol, shortly after that first hit we get another on one of the planer boards, i tell tinbanger its his fish and he takes the rod! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1193788323 after a nice strong fight the first fish in the boat is a..... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1193788580 sheepshead lol so now i get next fish, after trolling around for a bit another line gets hit and I'm up. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1193788996 after a few nice headshakes and bulldogging to bottom we get our first glimpse of the fish and its gold!!! into the net he goes and a measurment shows him at 27 inches my new PB.(he had a hook in the gills, so he was kept) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1193788946 so we turn around and start to go back down and tinbanger is now in the hot seat. tinbanger is staring at the one rigger rod and the tip starts a' bouncin, he goes up sets the hook and he says "it feels the same as the last one" lol http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1193789188 and another bah bah bah lol http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1193789286 lol does'nt he look happy lol so I'm up in the hot seat waitin for a fish, we are marking lots and lots of fish down too deep but some are coming up on the sonar to take a look at the baits, but nada. o well. finally the one planer goes off and i'm up, after just as long a fight as the first one (man there is a lot of line behind that boat lol) i get my second walleye in the boat measuring in at 24 inches, this ones goes in the live well with the first one. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1193789579 sorry for the one dead fish pic, but like said above he wasnt going to survive and he did'nt. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1193789604 tinbanger is up agian and the lake is getting alot rougher with the waves rising constanly, but we stuck it out. now tinbangers getting a good case of ribbin from me and Lloyd lol callin him the sheepie master and such lol, when the next rigger went off we were joking around that he probably got another sheppie lol well guess what.... he did lol http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1193789879 the sheepie master strikes agian lol so now with the waves getting even bigger i was up, time was running out and we hoped my streak would continue lol. so get this, i am sitting there watchng the one rigger rod bounce around in the waves wondering how the heck i am susposed to tell that a fish hit lol, so im sitting there watching the rod and Lloyd says"fish on" i was like "huh where", he gets up and checks the rigger rod and sure enough there is some resistance lol he sure knows what he is looking for! so this fish did not want to come up and kept diving deeper and deeper with lots of head shakes thrown in lol were are betting on another walleye lol so i finally start to bring the fish up and there is that gold flash lol how crazy is that lol tinbanger gets all the sheepies and i get all the walleyes lol, so i get the fish close to the boat and the net is under her! i couldnt belive the size of this fish! i know lots of bigger ones are caught in the bay every yer but i have never seen such a big walleye in person http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1193790337 this PIG measured in at just over 30" and we never weighed her as we wanted he back as quick as posible, she took off really strong back down to the depths as i watched he swim away. Lloyd estimated the fish to be 10 lbs and that would make my new Personal Best!! i still cant belive that i got a double diget walleye lol . after that fish we started to bring in the lines and get ready to go as it was getting rougher and our charter was over. this will be a fishing trip that tinbanger and i will not soon forget. Lloyd was a great host and a VERY nice guy, he is a good conservationist avoiding fishing the deep water and making sure the fish we release swim off strong and lively to be caught again. we would recommend hooking up with a charter like Lloyd U and ME fishing charters to anyone any time looking to experience some fishing of a lifetime and learn a lot as well ( like I don't have enough lures) . Maybe a summer Salmon charter next summer

ya i belive it was in an esox angler magizene this year, the article was on pike fishing in europe.
-
all i can say is what a hit!! . unfourtunatly he rolled in my line and broke me off but i cant wait to do it agian. the fish surfaced close to shore from me and 2 other men. they estimated it bettween 18 and 20 lbs. it hit a canadian wiggler in firetiger and the first run was amazing lol. anyways hope to get out and land one lol. p.s. i landed one for another guy, the fish weighed 12 lbs. lots of fish jumping as well.

not to hijack your thread or anything but, i was just wondering would my flippin stick which is 7 1/2 feet long and heavy action work? i could toss on a abu c3 which holds plenty of line. would this combo work well? or should i use a spinning reel.
-
good job! lots of nice size largies in there like that just need to work for them somtimes.
-
its good for all the river fishers, and river fish! hope my brookie creek rises up real soon!!
-
little can be good at times. lots of bass and pike to keep u busy, i like to fish the edges of the reed beds for the largies. lots of fish in the 15"- 17" range, senkos and horny toad type baits will work great. inline spinners and rattle traps are great baits for the pike, most of them are 24" and under but ive seen some 30"+ pulled out of there. a good spot was allredy said by Anatz the north east weed bed will get u lots of both pike and bass. good luck!

well i wasnt out on the river much in the last while, so the past 2 days ive been out for a few hours at a time. the water level is real low it has droped over 12 inches in the past few weeks, the water is still very cold tho. i have only been fishing depper and colder runs and pools as not to put much stress on the trout and the fishing is still great. i got out yesterday at 4:30 pm and was out for 1 1/2 hour. in that time the fishing was great. i got lots of smaller 6-8 inch fish and a few over 12 inches. including a 14 inch beauty. the fish were caught on grass hopper imitations as there are lots in the river right now. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1187818719 a nice one with some very nice colours http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1187818817 a very nice 14 incher which took the fly very aggresivly and one amazing fight for the size of the fish i got out agian today for a few hours and on my second cast with the hopper i get another fish about 10 inches no pic. agian lots of other smaller ones. i decided to bring along an ultra light with me today and decided to toss out a spinner and worm. i got a nice 12 inch fish with that combo. he had some great spawning colours as well. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1187819022 all fish were released i definatly love this type of fishing and the river has lots of action latly as well. best of all i have it all to my self lol

the local creeks i fish are very low now, i was at a creek later on today and the water has droped a foot. i still fished it but only in the deeper and colder pools. i infact saw some very nice brook trout today in some very shallow water and didnt bother to cast to them as i figured they were under to much stress as is. i still got some nice brookies today in the deeper pools and they still took off strong

so after a quick decision to go up to my favrioute smallmouth lakes this past weekend, i was pumped!! so this is a lake that tinbanger and his father always fished when he was young. so after a long drive my famly and i made it to the lake. the weater was great and the water was like glass. we got set up and went over to a campsite to set up base camp for the day. after everything was set up on shore i went down and took a few casts, i tied on a tube and right when the tube hit the water a bass takes it and takes a nice jump. i get her to the boat and it is a nice 1 1/2 lbs fish, fairly avrage on this lake. so we get out in the boat and start fishing, after a few rock bass i got the first decent smallie of the day, meaused 17.5 inches long around 2 lbs. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1186699974 after that it was fish after fish all around the same size didnt bother with pics. after my sister was done with catching the smaller fish on worms i riged her up with a jig and grub combo, boy did she catch lots of fish on that!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1186698507 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1186698526 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1186698547 what do you think a future BBR ahaha http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1186698570 my brother with a smaller bass http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1186698634 so in the next few hours we caught so many fish that the was no time to take any pictures lol the fish were all avrage of 1 1/2 lbs or larger, at one point we were drifting over a rock pile with some big boulders and i see 3-4 big smallies over 3 lbs, i had them follow but not comit lots of times finally one bit short and didnt get hooked well only had it one for a few seconds, i would have been mad if i wasnt catching so many bass tho lol. so we are fishing a nice shorline with lots of rip rap and we are catching the normal 2 lbsers. we come upon a little weed bed and i toss in a tube, i get a hit and the fish agian feels smaller, so i didnt say anything to anyone. once i pulled it 10 feet off the weed bed boy did the fish take off!! jumping and splashing and running constintly. after it jumped near the boat i noticed i hooked the first largie of the day and it was a really big one. i never noticed how big it was till it finally got in the net!! here are a few action pics. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1186699428 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1186699450 and here is the fish in all its glory lol the fish was 22 inches long and 6 lbs!! and it was a real fattie, i could get my closed fist in its mouth. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1186699503 after a few quick pictures the fish took off strong http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/pik...pg?t=1186699584 we talked to a few locals on the lake and havent heard of fish that big coming out of the lake in a long time. so we spent the rest of the day till sunset catching more and more smallies. it was definatly a memorable day out there. cant wait till we get back there
