  1. you're telling me! last year my motor blew, I ended up taking my old mans 55lb powerdrive v2 and buying him the 80lb motor he needed for his boat. $2000 was a bit steep considering how much a pedal costs lol. To throw salt on the wound, Jimmer has a working pedal so he threw me a bit of cash and took the motor from me and is using it to this day lol. Such is life.
  2. thats an awesome rig man! I dont know if its just me, but alumacraft just makes boats that are crisp, their storage compartments, and everything is just so well constructed and thought out. Glad you are enjoying it!
  3. guarantee your foot pedal is pooched. Thats the exact same foot pedal and connection as the powerdrive V1's To the person that said that the foot pedals are on ebay/amazon, you are looking at the Gen 2 foot pedal, which unfortunately does not communicate with the Gen 1/even older systems. The only way to upgrade to those foot pedals is to switch the head chip in the older units (this is possible) however when you price it all out, its in excess of $400 making it totally not worth it when used motors can be found online for a lot less.
  4. is that an alumacraft tiller i spy...yammy 40? nice set up
  5. that synth breakdown at 2:55 gets me every time
  6. cheers for this info, hard to find solid boat mechanics these days for real.
  7. its breaking up a little as rain tends to when it hits very very dry land. The land literally evaporates the moisture out of the atmosphere. At least one good thing is that areas just to the south like britt, pointe au baril and byng inlet are getting some of the rain. Although this fire is concerning, what was scaring the hell out of me was the possibility that another fire could spark in the region which would require the resources from Parry Sound 33 to have to start fighting another fire. That's the last thing that area needs. When you observe the radar closely, you can really see how dry the stretch between pointe au baril and the french river is dry as a bone...you can literally see the rain evaporating in that stretch as soon as it hits the land.
  8. ...except that the area is filled with smoke and theres the chance that highway 69 is borderline about to be closed... The guy isnt going to tell you not to come until the evacuation is actually in effect. His business would be taking a beating because of all of this. I am not going to tell you not to go, but if you do, expect heavy smoke, like very very heavy smoke...if you or anyone going with you has respiratory issues, i would very strongly advise you to not go. Be prepared for the potential for highway 69 to be closed at any moment and having to find an alternative way home i.e. running north to sudbury and then east to northbay back down 11. Last but not least, be prepared to be ordered to evacuate at any moment. Grundy lake PP was evacuated over the weekend they sent 800 campers home 10km to the south of where you are headed.
  9. thats what drives me insane lol we fish all day for a flury of 10 minutes where we catch 20+lbs and then thats it for the day. Every time ive caught a smallie in October or November, ive caught at least 4 in a row and then thats it.
  10. all the best to you man...i couldnt imagine, im worried enough down in Pointe Au Baril...were all hoping for rain.
  11. ya...id be looking to go elsewhere southwest winds this weekend too, you will be in for a miserable time. If you can even get there with the pending evacuation.
  12. probably didnt see the choppers with the buckets because they were out fighting the fires! Britt has become the new base for fighting them. A local farmer donated his fields for the effort. Its crazy to think of how close all of this is, i snowmobile through this area all of the time...so sad.
  13. any tips on how i can retire tomorrow as well? im 30 lol
  14. quick shootin when do you install the talons and 110 ultrex?
  15. they were blasting as well in the area and had sparked up a few fires earlier in the week. Not a great look, now that the fire is >8000 hectars with no rain in sight.
  16. this is why jimmer currently owns my powerdrive lol He had a peddle,
  17. a firefighter from Alberta has perished on the job in Northwestern Ontario Heavy winds all weekend up on the northeast side of Georgian Bay has made the Parry Sound 33 fire spark up big time over the weekend. No rain in sight...not looking good at all.
  18. any LED you are going to purchase will be 12 volts. Since your power line to your trolling motor is 24, I dont think you will be able to use that power supply line without blowing up your lights? (correct me if I am wrong) I am guessing that your Bow light has a line running to it though, you could definitely just tap into that power source for an easy fix. LED's and a bow light would never draw enough to cause you any issues.
  19. powerdrive pedals are notorious for failing...the unfortunate thing is that if its the first generation, you cant get a new pedal so its pooched. I was running one last year and the pedal started going wonky and that was the end of it. You cant fix them either for less than like $400 so its not even worth it.
  20. we were chasing smallies and paid dearly for it lol
  21. i realize now that you are referencing this past saturday and not the saturday prior. I was fishing the north east end myself that weekend. Was a tough smallie bite, we found them but it was too little too late. The guys killed it on buckhorn for largies in the pads though.
  22. you definitely wont have an issue with 54" on that boat. I personally have ran a 55lb on my tinner and a 16 foot smokercraft and trust me on this, you basically will always want more power. I personally hate underpowered trolling motors, they not only drain your batteries quicker, they also dont allow yourself to get out of harry situations when the wind is blowing. i like having full control and power available to get myself out of trouble when i need to. Go 24v and never second guess yourself again.
  23. this video https://www.facebook.com/635205468/posts/10156244423100469/ makes me feel that those turns would not be comfortable for me at all lol. You are probably right though, they fly so damn smooth.
  24. this makes me feel more at ease after i bought navionics + last year and then they released lakemaster and i was concerned that lakemaster was going to be wayyyy more detailed.
