  1. they were blasting as well in the area and had sparked up a few fires earlier in the week. Not a great look, now that the fire is >8000 hectars with no rain in sight.
  2. this is why jimmer currently owns my powerdrive lol He had a peddle,
  3. a firefighter from Alberta has perished on the job in Northwestern Ontario Heavy winds all weekend up on the northeast side of Georgian Bay has made the Parry Sound 33 fire spark up big time over the weekend. No rain in sight...not looking good at all.
  4. any LED you are going to purchase will be 12 volts. Since your power line to your trolling motor is 24, I dont think you will be able to use that power supply line without blowing up your lights? (correct me if I am wrong) I am guessing that your Bow light has a line running to it though, you could definitely just tap into that power source for an easy fix. LED's and a bow light would never draw enough to cause you any issues.
  5. powerdrive pedals are notorious for failing...the unfortunate thing is that if its the first generation, you cant get a new pedal so its pooched. I was running one last year and the pedal started going wonky and that was the end of it. You cant fix them either for less than like $400 so its not even worth it.
  6. we were chasing smallies and paid dearly for it lol
  7. i realize now that you are referencing this past saturday and not the saturday prior. I was fishing the north east end myself that weekend. Was a tough smallie bite, we found them but it was too little too late. The guys killed it on buckhorn for largies in the pads though.
  8. you definitely wont have an issue with 54" on that boat. I personally have ran a 55lb on my tinner and a 16 foot smokercraft and trust me on this, you basically will always want more power. I personally hate underpowered trolling motors, they not only drain your batteries quicker, they also dont allow yourself to get out of harry situations when the wind is blowing. i like having full control and power available to get myself out of trouble when i need to. Go 24v and never second guess yourself again.
  9. this video https://www.facebook.com/635205468/posts/10156244423100469/ makes me feel that those turns would not be comfortable for me at all lol. You are probably right though, they fly so damn smooth.
  10. this makes me feel more at ease after i bought navionics + last year and then they released lakemaster and i was concerned that lakemaster was going to be wayyyy more detailed.
  11. im super super curious to see what lakemaster Ontario looks like... Dont forget the added bonus that G2 and G2N units of the helix 5 and 7 are able to function under the newest update which provides owners with a totally redesigned "ice mode" which turns your helix 5 or 7 into a digital flasher! The Helix ice cases are hard to come by but i found a lowrance one for $90 including the battery and with a really simply modification, my helix 7 now doubles up as my ice unit in the winter time! Also the G2 models have much improved menus over the G1 units including the most handy "view selection" menu rather than scrolling view by view.
  12. outfit the boat with some electronics and go for a spin, ive spent many skunked days on the water...put the rods in and see what happens. im sure you will eventually start at least marking some fish if you keep changing the depth you are driving around in.
  13. as much as its awesome to try and re-create "A river runs through it" The best thing I ever did for my casting and abilities was to go to a dock and catch pike on the fly. 1. Theres no trees to get your casts stuck in everywhere 2. You can make horrible casts without getting snagged on everything around you. 3. You can really practice your double haul and lengthening how far you can cast 4. pike especially snot rockets are easy as hell to catch, they will teach you how to actually land those trout when you finally get on them. 5. Line management is easy standing on a piece of wood vs in a river where the current pulls your line or the grass grabs it. Give it a go...it makes dock fishing way more interesting and your casting will improve so fast youll surprise even yourself. If you really want to try your hand at river run trout..the Grand is the closest thing to you, but dont overlook the credit river or the eramosa, both hold lots of fish, its just much harder to figure out where to start.
  14. i dont think any of us regular folk could handle the G's those aces pull. Wed be passed out in the passenger seat.
  15. those water bombers fly exactly like youd expect them to fly, like they are in a dog fight to save lives... i believe this is Henvey Inlet near the key river https://www.facebook.com/635205468/posts/10156244423100469/
  16. unfortunately the rain missed a lot of the parry sound and french river region. The britt area got poured on, but unfortunately the french and pointe au baril areas missed out entirely. The extended forecast doesnt look so great either.
  17. from what i can see, the firefighters have done a friggin incredible job containing the blaze to the forest and away from most of the cottages thus far...there is obviously is devestation, but i believe they were able to save the key marina area...which i friggin incredible because the fire basically surrounded the entirety of the community there. some of the footage of the water bombers sweeping in on the henvey inlet is crazy, the pilots of those planes are friggin next level.
  18. unfortunately I was around the point from where the fireworks were being launched so i was unable to pinpoint the exact location they were coming from. I could hear the individuals chatting and yelling and then fireworks launching in the sky. I came around the point and everything had gone quiet and dark. Either someone spoke to them already or they knew what they were doing was wrong and hid it. I wish i could have went after them myself... I was bloody raging...you could see the smoke in the sky from the fires just to our north and these idiots think its awesome to light fireworks...ugh I have been personally assured by the township that any reporting of the fireban violation will be responded to. That after hours number is for the local by law enforcements personal phone line.
  19. find any weed edge in 15fow and throw a drop shot...I caught 5 in a day on saturday by accident while fishing in a bass tournament.
  20. was in Pointe Au Baril this past weekend and the situation is downright scary up there...I feel so much for the people affected in the key/french river areas. The smoke on the horizon and smell was enough to instill fear in everyone in pointe au baril's hearts. It is everyone's responsibilities to be extremely diligent, to protect one another's property and well being. If you are in the vast vast area that is now considered to be under a total fire ban, please THINK! This means aside from the obvious no fires... It also means, no fireworks, and no throwing ciggarette butts on the ground! My parents this past weekend witnessed an individual in parry sound riding a motorcycle toss his butt in the ditch, i also personally witnessed individuals lighting fireworks, while the fires visibly raged 20 miles to our north. If you are in the township of the archipelago and witness someone violating a fire ban, you may contact by law enforcement at the followign numbers By Law enforcement 705-746-4243 ext 325 or after hours 705-774-3630
  21. i realize what i can be said can be misinterpreted. I was referring to the area of lower buckhorn which feeds into lovesick, which then feeds into stoney. My bad.
  22. i know this is as confusing as hell, because Upper buckhorn, is actually the southern buckhorn, while lower buckhorn is the northern buckhorn...sounds to me like you are fishing east of lower buckhorn feeding into stoney lake. aka lovesick lake. From my understanding the reason that the northern buckhorn is called "lower" is because it is downstream in the kawarthas, with the water flowing from west to east towards lake ontario. Ive done a lot of fishing on upper buckhorn this year and pigeon. The bass are biting and there are loads of walleye. Things are a bit tougher now though with the insanely warm weather that we have had. I would suggest chasing largies over smallies. Been some bigger fish caught this year...especially after the past 3 years where we really struggled to get any size, things have rebounded a bit.
  23. sure, you could spend 10 years on a lake driving around and one day find that boulder pile in the middle of the lake....or you can use side image for 1 minute see something 200 yards to your right in 30 Fow, scroll your cursor over the mark, hit "mark" and then proceed to fish right on top of it...but ya...side imaging is useless... lol
