  1. OKay, so I have a shot at the Bay of Quinte again this year, and decided this would be a good excuse to go buy more crankbaits. Grabbed an assortment of lures, and am now equipped with Reef Runner Deep Runners, Shad Raps, Live Targets, Minnow Raps, Dives-to raps, Trolls-to raps, and probably more stuff that I forgot I had. I've enjoyed using my leadcore setup this summer with spoons for the lakers, and figure I should be able to put it to use with the crankbaits...however...I'm wondering how to account for the depth I'll ultimately run at. I've been doing some research online, and am undecided on whether or not the lures will go deeper than they're supposed to because of the leadcore, or will just run at the depth the leadcore says they should be (ie. 5-7' per colour) Does anybody on here troll crankbaits on their leadcore? I'd love to know if you notice a difference when running a shallow running lure vs. a deep diver, and how long of a leader you run. Thanks in advance!
  2. Smae here...I have the 76csx, and they are amazing units. Nothing wrong with that price for the 60....good post, Rob C
  3. 2 incredible fish....way to go! And congrats for making sure they were released strong and healthy
  4. Simcoe + Smallies = Rowbotham
  5. Yup...as soon as I see a BC salmon lodge or a Carribbean destination, I change the channel....after a while, all the episodes look the same. Shrug. Of course....I should be out fishing....not wishing...
  6. Great post as usual, GaRRy. MY "thing " this year was going after lakers all summer....which I did. Pretty much neglected all other species, and managed to learn a fair bit about leadcore trolling and got the hang of the downrigger pretty good. Caught a lot of small ones, and hooked into a true monster which I never managed to lift off bottom. I did find time to try dropshotting, and really like it. Hasn't been super productive for me yet, and I still have a fair bit to learn, but one thing I observed is that you can just twitch the heck out of the thing and leave it in one spot for a while, as this will bring fish in. It's a patience thing...so that was hard to deal with...kind of like slowing the retrieve down.
  7. Awesome report as usual....the photography had me absolutely aching to get up there....what an amazing part of the country...no...WORLD you live in, my friend. The stunned silence WAS hilarious...and there's ICE! Which means ICE FISHING!!! Wooohooooooo!!!!

  17. Fantastic scenery and fish!! Nicely done Were you in a Provincial Park, or just crown land camping?
  18. Your intentions were right...whether a CO would've agreed is a total crap-shoot....ultimately, it doesn't appear that you left the fish any worse off than it was when you found it. Good on ya for trying....and hopefully a post like this will educate a few people, and they'll pass their knowledge on....and the world will become just a teeny bit better of a place.
  19. LOL -- they must be "Northern Smallmouth"
  20. Yup...that is pretty far north for the buckets....but if anyone was going to catch one, we all knew it'd be you The only way to top that is to pull one through the ice this winter!
