  1. Will the shameful plugging of businesses and services NEVER end around here? Kidding, kidding! What a great tip, MrEh! Thanks for the heads-up
  2. Anyone here ever try the Otterslide Lakes in Algonquin? Already thinking about next Spring, mostly 'cuz I'm bored here at work, and figured I'd post this one now before I forget about it.
  3. Beautiful fish --- you guys make quite a team
  4. Hot Dang! Nice boat -- way to go!!!!
  5. Thanks so much for posting -- first thing I thought this morning was...hey, it's D-Day. Didn't hear word one about it on the radio on my way in...actually started to wonder if I was wrong about the date! Some nut-bar announcer thought it was more important to call it National Yo-yo day, in honour of the guy who invented yo-yos on this date. Thanks again -- and a big thanks to our vets, past and present
  6. Not that I am an authority on this sort of thing, but it looks like a 15 year old reel that has served well, and can be relegated to the emergency backup pile....looks like a good excuse to go get something new
  7. amazing stuff! Since that ice lasts so long.....think you could bring some back some time for us?
  8. Blimey, Limey! That was a great report! Last year, after almost exclusively trolling for them on the lake my parents live near, in Muskoka, I found the X-rap to be a deadly walleye presentation...also used a smaller lure -- a nice Yo-Zuire that really slashes side to side when retrieved. Had some of my best fishing in years with that approach. Way to go
  9. does the boat have a tag on it that tells you the max horsepower? Considering how loaded you'll be....it's probably not a big deal, as long as your transom can handle it. I suppose that's where the tag would come in handy. (You probably already know this but...) it looks like a metal credit card stuck on the inside of the transom. Should list your max allowable power in Kw, which someone on here should be able to convert easily enough
  10. Right click on your image on photobucket, select properties, select image URL. higlight the image URL address, right click it, select copy. Come back here, click the little "insert image" icon, then paste your URL into the pop-up window that appears. Nice pike, by the way!
  11. that is hilarious! No wonder the German imports cost more --- they come with your own personal gas-siphon!
  12. ridonkulous! But at least u caught some fish -- so that was good
  13. I started to look around for a trailer, but thought with the darn thing being so light, would the trailer be bouncing around more than I want anyway? Once I saw how nicely it fit in the box, it cemented my decision to stop looking for a trailer.
  14. from what I've read...big lake, excellent fishing...maybe worth going with a guide for half a day or so. If you have a fax number, PM it to me, and I will send a copy of a map I have for it. (sorry -- i don't have a scanner) It's from an old Hines-Herringer-Jensen book, but it could give you a few spots to boost your confidence with, if nothing else.
  15. Nice little spot you got there...thanks for sharing the pics
  16. my eyes! my virgin eyes!! That's a hilarious report -- lots of nice fish too! Keep 'em coming
  17. Nah...its just those whiskey boilies the guys were talking about last night
  18. JB's Bay-bee. When I get a boat worthy of a name
  19. WOW!! THat is incredible! Thanks soooo much Cliff -- that's great
  20. Hey Jer -- I have the exact same truck and a 12 footer myself, and just ran from Muskoka up to Temagami with a canoe on the roof and tinny in the back. Boat fit in perfectly, transom snug up against the window. I used some heavy duty ratchet straps around the front bench, hooked to the cargo hooks at the back of the bed....boat never budged. You might even be able to put it upside down with the tailgate up, but, could be a lot of over hang. Might be worth trying just for the aerodynamics. Face up, you'll be fine though. Tie 'er down tight!
  21. going fishing with my dad and my son would be really nice. Or a Garmin 76CSx...either one is good
  22. I have to admit I got halfway through page one, then skipped ahead to see where all this was going --- I would wholeheartedly agree with Art and Splashopper's comments. The cheapest way to guarantee a boatload of fish is to head to the grocery store
  23. sweet! I have to get out for some of that channel cat action
  24. NICE Thanks for posting that report -- always good to see things turn out for the better!
  25. pics are comin through nice and clear...no such thing as bad fishing if your kids are having fun
