  1. Yup, I agree with all of you! If you wanna truck, come on down! If you wanna 4-cylinder gas sipper, come on down! Ok -- that's my shameless plug for the evening. Well....semi-shameless...I didn't mention WHICH dealership I work for
  2. beautiful! thansk for sharing
  3. I agree with all of the above statements --- don't do it!!!! Lots of times you can find the same model rod you have in a spinning version...might be worth checking out.
  4. I would go 4 lbs, 15 ounces...it's broad, but doesn't look terribly fat in the belly....bee-yooo-tiful fish though
  5. Water up in Muskoka is the same thing...cold, no weeds...few walleye...At least you got one nice one!
  6. Nicely done....what you need to do is have someone sneak your camera in with your gear, so's you don't KNOW you have it....then when you nail a beast like that walleye, you find it while rooting around for some pliers. Nice job on the big fish!
  7. Well, the girlfriend (Laker Jess, who rarely posts!) and I have been waiting, and planning, and dreaming, and it's almost here! Just a few short hours of work tomorrow (if you wanna a cheap deal on a car, tomorrow's the day -- call me! I'll sell it nice and cheap so I can get outta there quick...lol), then it's off to the great white North! Or the great Wet North, according to the forecasts. A big thanks to the more than-a-few of you who have helped me out with maps and techniques....so I am super-positive that I will have SOMETHING to report when I come back. For the record: It's Temagami on Thursday, camping close to Kokoko Lake, hitting the surrounding back lakes, and back down on Monday in the rain. Yes, I know tomorrow's only Wednesday, and I don't hit the water 'till Thursday, but I drive halfway up tomorrow, then leave super early Thursday morning. Waaahoooo!!!! Just a little bit excited, as I sit here surrounded by maps that are about to get packed up. Happy trails!
  8. Have you tried running the line under lukewarm water for about 30 seconds once it's on the reel? This is the magic cure-all for mono when I spool it up.
  9. Hoo baby! Nice report...too bad you had to leave under such nice conditions. I am heading up on Thursday morning...hoping to find some hungry lakers. How deep were you guys hitting them? did you pay attention to water temps? Thanks for the pics The gear is packed and ready...I'm just waiting to leave town!
  10. well, a fish is a fish! Way to go --- nice job on your first report
  11. I have wondered this many times myself ---- doesn't it stand to reason that more boating accidents are caused by people who are unfamiliar with how to operate boats? And wouldn't those be people who rent them? Well, maybe not...I suppose a lot of us (myself included) rent boats when we are tired of paddling, or want to use something a little bigger. But still! Is it just a way to keep tourism dollars flowing? I dunnno.....
  12. Way to stick with it -- you were rewarded with some decent fish! Nicely done
  13. Awsome report, Solo....way to pull that one out of the fire and come away with a fantastic trip! Thanks for sharing
  14. AFter working on Saturday, I made it up to Muskoka on Sat. night. Stopped the truck by the lake, caught a small walleye, then went out bright and early Sunday morning. Beautiful sunrise, nice morning, I thought the forecasters were going to be wrong! Another small walleye, some OOS bass, and off to church. Came back, it poured rain all day, and I didn't get out until Monday morning. Freeeeezing cold...still managed a few fish, but alas, no walleye dinner for me. Good ol' May 24 -- that's the way it goes, sometimes. Temagami, here I come!!!!!
  15. wowowow that's a report! Thanks for sharing
  16. thanks for the feedback folks! I've got a whole pile of stuff ready to trail behind those spoons....hopefully I'll get a chance to use some of it
  17. that first pic looks like a walleye from what I can see....you could have at least led us to believe that you lost it boatside...
  18. wow...it is so great when you get to see your children emjoying themselves like that. thanks for posting the report
  19. that's funny stuff ...it helps dull the pain of being at work while the walleye are feasting on this fine opening morning.
  20. sounds like fun, but I will be up north! Good luck to all who show up though
  21. Well, if that is an accurate avatar....do you mind if I do the driving? lol
  22. Ohhhhh, I know the thing! I've also seen little jobbys similar to that with wings on 'em...sort of a pimped out worm harness/ Thanks CLofchik. I will add it to the shopping list for tomorrow
  23. Sounds good....what is it?
  24. well...I MIGHT bring the minnow trap...will probably have some worms....I'm thinking a tube jig fluttering along back there could do nicely. maybe I could stuff the tube with some mallow??
  25. LOL -- well I will definitely have those with me....could be worth a shot
