  1. Yeah, I think it would be a bit nerve-wracking to hit the send button, but I'm glad you did. Thanks for sharing, Peter -- that kind of openness cannot help but improve the lives of everyone who reads it.
  2. that is one happy birthday! Good stuff -- looks like you are ready to rock
  3. Was that greencoachdog? Sounded like a hogswaller accent
  4. Caught my first muskie on a copper Johnson's Sprite (spoon) up near the mouth of the French....missed a MONSTER on a gold/orange minnow bait in the same neighbourhood. Neither baits were large at all, which was surprising. Not sure where on the lake you are...I think a lot of guys focus on the West Arm...not sure if you'll get more help by specifiying which part of the lake you typically fish...
  5. wow...nice octopus...just in time for the playoffs too
  6. Oh my goodness those are some nice fish! Thanks for posting
  7. When I stayed on Happy Isle, we paddled into Merchant, then Chickaree. People were doing okay on Merchant, trolling along the shoreline leading to Chickaree, and I met a guy who was raving about Chickaree in the spring....said he had done really well in there. What I remember most was the HORDES of baitfish swimming around....never seen anything like it. The shoreling opposite the portage landing drops straight down...it's so small that it's easy to cover as a side trip for a few hours. Good luck!
  8. Now THAT is the motivation that I was looking for!!!! And, uh, aniceguy...pm me whenever you can
  9. Seems to be lots of shoreline around the Toronto area is producing decent pike...does anybody fish along the lake in Mississauga or Oakville? Not looking for honey holes, but, maybe some positive affirmation that it might be worthwhile heading down there one morning this week?
  10. Weather network The Weather Network shows the average temp. below seasonal (14 deg.) until the 19th of May, where it starts to climb....
  11. Great report...it's good to be back, no?
  12. :D :D
  13. Excellent report -- some big pike too, by the looks of that board. Thanks for sharing!
  14. I am by no means experienced on the St.Lawrence, and I'm sure there are some on here who will point out a couple lures you shouldn't be without...if I were headed out there I'd have a couple deep divers -- whether they be Tail Dancers, or deep diving X-raps, or whatever...something with a bigger lip that will crack the 15' mark in case the pike are hanging out down there. And Mepps just came out with a heavier Aglia #5...I think it's called the Aglia Long...it has a smooth body instead of the beaded aglia, and weighs 7/8 oz. Nice and heavy for longer casts and deeper retrieves. Best of luck!!
  15. Well, what most of you are saying IS the reason why I told the guy on the tips line very clearly that I didn't SEE anything illegal happening. I'm not out to get a bunch of slaps on the back for trying to bust someone -- it was just a bad gut feeling that wouldn't go away. Clearly, some of you wouldn't have called, for many reasons. I figured that even if I called, nobody was going to come out there to look for a couple of guys carrying a worm box with no proof that they were using it. But, after walking the river and seeing more than a couple empty worm boxes discarded in the bushes, I figured that maybe the MNR will keep track of how many calls they get like this, and maybe, after a while, they'll check up on it. I know, I'm probably just dreaming. But please, don't look at me as some kind of vigilante justice seeking snitch, who's doing more spying than fishing. I have seen other "questionable" stuff going on before, and never done anything about it. This time, the doubts were nagging at me a little too much, so I didn't want to feel like there was something more I could have done that I didn't.
  16. Hey all you yakkers...CTC has a fishing kayak on sale right now...in the weekly flyer which is viewable online...FYI
  17. Have a great summer, Wayne --- depending on what our schedule ends up like, Laker Jess and I might buzz your dock some time between May 22- 27th. Take'er easy!
  18. yeah, you definitely don't want to buy one for yourself, Irish...it just wouldn't go as nicely with the decor in the guestroom as your current outfit
  19. wow...those are some nice 'eyes! I gotta get out there one of these days....well done!
  20. I would prefer to impart my own action without the retrieve being forced to be "dancing" all the time
  21. You can't go wrong with the Chronz! Amid so many fishing shows which either got boring or lame, his show has never ceased to be entertaining and worth watching. Now where's my 5 gallon fry pan, beer, oil, potatoes, beer, hot peppers, beans, and beer? I'm gonna be busy for a while!
  22. exceptional scenery! Thanks for sharing
  23. I never knew THAT's what fiddleheads were! I thought they were some kind of mushrooms --- how do you prepare/eat them? P.S. great pics and report -- thanks for sharing
