  1. nicely done, bigred! Where and what would be the obvious questions....?
  2. Nice work with the magic marker....nicer work with the 14" bait....it only caught that small guy though --- better bust out the 22"s
  3. Willkommen, Bluegill! I'm nowhere NEAR an authority on whitefish, but I would start with small jigs and spoons, right on bottom, along with small minnows. I'd also do a few google searches...with the expertise on this board, you should be ready by the time the ice is
  4. YOU CAN DO IT!!!! Keep at it, bud!
  5. Cougars not seen in Ontario since 1884? Are there other kinds of cougars (the animals, I mean...not the kind that hang out in bars!) in Ontario? Because I'm sure there was one at the cottage a few years back, and a friend who grew up in Temagami said his dad, former OPP, had an encounter with one. I know they're rare, but, 1884?
  6. It's funny because it's true. Go! Leafs! Go! ouch!
  7. Nice report -- love the sundown shot of the bridge! And certainly nothing wrong with a mess of perch to fry up --- just means you get to go back again...soon!
  8. YESSSSSssssss
  9. Cool report -- better late than never Sounds like a pretty great adventure
  10. what about scent/salt impregnated soft baits?
  11. Very nice! I love the shot of the Jake all torn to shreds
  12. hot dang! Ima get me wunna those bad boys!!!!
  13. My brother-in-law left his Strike King Magnum dangling from the side of his tackle box....it was a bit too big to fit inside it...his younger, 8 or 9 year old brother got snagged walking past it....LESSON LEARNED. Hopefully your son will never leave his lures out again!
  14. Seems that my old rapala's had no problem with it, but a lot of the newer baits, the paint peels off so easily. This could explain why I only get a few walleye at a time while casting weedbeds though...I'll see if being quieter makes a difference
  15. LOL U Gotta love Terry
  16. I see you haven't successfully blocked out those painful memories, Wayne Luckily for us, it was just a bit too cold and wet for Jess to work her evil charms on the walleye. Although she's already talking about a make-up voyage a couple weeks from now.... Thanks for puttin up the report, and putting up with me, cousin...I'm glad we got a chance to get out there, AND get you your first of what will hopefully be many tasty walleye
  17. I guess this is what we should expect after your fly-fishing lessons and such....sheeeesh!
  18. I have the Shakespeare Intrepid noodle rod -- love it! Found the 6'6 spinning to be a bit floppy...but it sure is a tough, versatile rod!
  19. Wow -- that's really impressive. I would have thought that in a town so dedicated to appearances and useable green-space, more people would have come out to clean up a park that is as nice as that one. Tried to get away for a bit, but the boss wouldn't let me! At work...not the boss at home GREAT JOB GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. welcome aboard, Kostya
  21. Of all the NF topics, I can't believe this one is getting so many reasonable replies Too funny.... What's that Australian boot company...Bluntstone...don't they make a pair too?
  22. My first spinning reel was, as my Dad's was, a Mitchell 300A. Lasted a llloooonnngggg time, but eventually got replaced. I do have a Mitchell "long cast" .. not sure what model#, but it's a smaller reel, and it has really gone the distance...not as smooth as my Abu's, but quite good for the $. For spinning reels, I'm really impressed with what Abu put's out -- the wife and son each have one, and they always feel better than my Roddy Hunter, and just a TAD nicer than my Daiwa something or other. But give me a baitcaster by Shimano, and I'll be happy. My Bantam Crestfire has been overused and abused, summer and winter, and still is as smooth as the day I got it...the Shimano I use for musky is the same story, although shamefully, I can't even remember the name of it...got replaced by the cardiff...ah well...one day I'll get a Calcutta
  23. My Diawa Eliminator spinning rod...until my buddy closed the car door on it I still remember it fondly....
  24. I am just blow away with all the steelhead on this board. For about 5 or 6 years, I tried every year...mind you, never in the fall. I'm a total noob when it comes to steel, although, I think I've got enough gear to get by. thanks for posting this, solo...definitely inspiring me to get out there and give it a rip!
