  1. I know one of the other fellow up the street made mention of this to the NVCA/Fishing Derby and they were totally unaware that the river had been "plugged up" by mother nature, from his story, he lead me to believe "it's not their job" to make sure the river can be used for canoe or other boat travel. Man, it would take an army(air force or navy don't count) to chop chop their way through that mess and then pull it up on the banks. There's a couple spots, it's so high you can't even come close to seeing over top of the pile of trees, and probably a couple hundred feet long. I know you're right about the canoe route designation.
  2. luv2drift, there's about 7 or 8 log jams just north of # 90 to the swamp, and once into the swamp there's a few more around the Willow, so big it would take many kilo's of C-4, DM12, or what it takes to blow it up. My neighbours been in there a number of times, it's impossible to navigate any distance now.
  3. Nice research, so in other words the $40 fee does appear to be legal, and, the high water mark myth doesn't hold a lot of water(except during the spring flood ). So unless you want to walk down the side of the river(feet in water), looks like this is legal. I would much rather see something like a Township access permit for those who live in Essa Twp, other municipalities do likewise for access to boat launches and parks like Innisfil, and Oro 9th line if I'm not mistaken. Maybe Brian knows if they charge at the Barrie Marina for Barrie City residents to launch&retrieve. I'm sure if they took 2 cents from every ESSA property owners tax bill, they would more than equal the amount they spend on the administration of tickets, making, distributing, revenue, etc. And lets keep it civil and not nasty, there's something to be learned here.
  4. Unfortunately, I don't think your courses would entitle you to get your licence here.
  5. I feel about as round as Homer Simpson, agony and now the eyelids are gettin droopy..ZZzzzzzzzzz. Here's for a little after supper action to get the next one: http://www.killsometime.com/games/Game.asp?ID=362
  6. Don't know where you're reading that, S/L Bass is open until Nov 30 in Grey Bruce. Checked the exceptions, no mention there either. Got a link or page number? Ah, possibility, if the rivers are closed to Trout, (30 Sep), they often close the mentioned rivers to all species just to keep everyone honest, you know, honest officer I was targeting bass....with a 15 foot noodle rod and roe.
  7. Bah humbug, and I'm coming to get some more today, bright and early. And for Silvio, residents are not exempt only the childish and aged,
  8. Seems like your neck of the woods has some apparant problems too with parking in the winter. I know everyone calls B*S on that place too. (Georgina)
  9. Well ya know Silvio, there's just more than Anglers that read these posts, namely the Bylaw Enforcemnt people, just love to see them wack your azz in court with a transcript of this thread, and your picture attached. Your marvelous attitude says everything about respect for the others property.
  10. Juust heard it's supposed to drop down 5 cents tonight.
  11. Okay, I think the jist of this info is getting some folks the wrong idea. The actual fee is not for fishing but for the cleanup, garbage disposal, river improvemnt, etc in the designated park areas. Yes you can wade in, but I would imagine somewhere along the line people,(not you in particular), "may" have tresspassed to get to the river, ie, hop the fence, tear the fence down, rip off the no tresspassing signs, etc. You can boat up and down the river too, just watch out for the 7 log jams along the way. I'm sure if the swines that have turned the area into a garbage dump had not done so, the atmosphere wouuld be a whole lot more tolerant for the roughly 2 months a year that the salmon/trout run happens.
  12. My, my, aren't we in a pizzy mood, I'm sure Essa Twp has researched the legality of the tickets and not send their Bylaw Enforcement people out there just to stir poop. Don't want to pay, go fish in some other puddle. Twenty to forty includes the derby ticket.
  13. Ya, I know, money for this, that and everything else, but, better to know than get bit in the arse by a ticket and tow.
  14. Just pay attention to the reg's, some of the tribs close on 30 Sep and others are only C&R.
  15. It's an Essa Township fishing permit, available at the office just east of Baxter, and I think at the Angus library(not 100% sure). Just one of those fees that pays for garbage disposable, river enhancement, etc. There's also a $10, one day tag available. If you opt for the $40 tag, it gets you into the annual Essa Salmon Derby, usually the 3rd weekend of Sept.
  16. I wouldn't be LOL when the Bylaw Enforcement Officer tags you, yes it's $40 for the year, fishing on either side of the #90 bridge at the old Conservation Office site or across the road where the Salmon Derby shack is to where the triangular parking lot is. Don't go down Don Ross Rd and park and fish unless you have written permission from the landowners. The BEO tags & tows. Permits are available from the Essa Twsp office or (I think the library in Angus, not sure).
  17. Nnnnnnoooooooooooooo, no sumos in skimpy stretchies allowed.
  18. Well first of all, what kind of boat? Alu, Fibreglass? How much does it weigh?
  19. Ya, all the batteries stored on cement floors will die a screaming death.
  20. Maintenance is one of those things that you do now to prevent poop from happening later. Trailer bearings, take the hubs off, bearings out, clean, degrease and repack them before storing. If there's any moisture in them now and you let them sit that way all winter, don't say nobody told ya so. Jack up the axles and support the tires off ground, prevents flat spotting and give the tires a spin, keeps the bearing surfaces greased.
  21. I went out this morning for a couple hours, not quite jumbos, but, close enough to call them keepers. Caught half on little gold coloured Slurpee jigs and a couple on the "Bug" jig, minnows not required.
  22. Well I'm going out on a limb, but I'm pretty sure I've read it in B&W that the use of smelt, frozen or alive is not allowed in some areas. What the chances that some frozen eggs could get fertilized, pretty remote, but, you want to be the one that screws up another lake. Smelt are nasty little buggers that compete with other species. If I can find the quote, I'll add it.
  23. They sell it by the foot or meter at P/A, item # 8143810, pg 327, $1.59 a foot, 4ga. Go look where they have chain, wire, hose etc. on rolls by the foot.
  24. Go to Princess Auto, welding/cable section, they have all different gauges of cable with connectors.
  25. Interesting to say the least. If you don't have the money or means of paying off debts in short order then you shouldn't make debts.
