Looks like a great time Mike. Thinking of going to Key West next christmas with my son for some cuda fishing.

Danny's gets another vote from me. Been stopping there for nigh on 15 years now. Food is awesome and the waitresses aren't hard to look at.

I agree Dan Something needs to be done locally to increase ice fishing opportunities or some of these small lakes are going to get creamed.

I'm not helping you portage that into any back lakes.

Head out from the landing to the west off the islands about a third of the way to Arthurs Point and find about 35 to 40 feet of water. There might be huts out there already but with the mild start maybe not.

Are you going through an outfitter? Lake trout is closed but whitefish pike and eyes are open. Every hour or so cut a couple of minnows into tiny chunks and drop em down the hole. Little green jigs work great for the whiteys.

Let me be the first to say...Atlantic.... Just kidding, huge fish though.

If Im fishing two lines. My dead line will be a tiny spoon with the treble removed instead six inches of 6lb flouro with a single hook and a lively minnow. The minnow will jig your spoon for you while you work your other rod. Yes they will hit right after you open the hole. I remember drilling a set on a new lake checking my depth visually after clearing the slush and start lowering my line. Not really thinking I've let out about 20 feet of line and its still going down the hole. Hold on, I'm only in about three feet of water. SET boom nice speck on the ice. Another thing we'll do is drill a set put out dead lines in 2-6 ft of water and go up on the shore for a fire and some bevs. Sometimes staying off the ice so your not making noise in such shallow water seems to be a key. Leave your spool open and use a gad type indicator though, seen many a reel go bye bye on the hit as MR Brookie drags it home

I was going to suggest Everett's Northern Excursions on Restoule with either on ice bungalows or his cabin. Great mix of species and good price with decent to great fishing.

I would never do it. I was working the fyke nets at Moon River one year in a musky spawning survey and we had a huge channel cat about 22lbs in the bottom of the net that we were having trouble getting out. Having just seen an episode on some fishing show about noodling I spoke up and volunteered to try it on this channel. It works, as soon as I got my hand in his mouth he chomped down and held on. Problem is they have vomerine teeth which is like 40 grit sandpaper all along their lips. Picture 20+ lbs of catfish clamped onto your knuckles suspended and thrashing around as you get him into the measuring board. My knuckles were bleeding and torn up pretty bad. Not medical emergency bad or anything but I certainly learned my lesson about noodlin...leave it to the hillbillies
