  1. I was in the hammock last night playing mindless games on the tablet and had 1 mosquito land on me and a few moths and thought what is with all the bugs tonight. I will no longer complain about the Southern bug count again. I usually reserve my Canada fishing trips for August when the bug count is lower but even then it drives me crazy when it gets dark. Art
  2. well done looking good. A trick I learned from a counter top fabricator is instead of drywall use cardboard and tape to make the template. use a big piece for the main body then cut strips by placing them next to the edge and use a compass to trace the edge onto the loose piece of cardboard. Cut it out and then slide it to the edge and tape it onto place. You will have the perfect template for any shape you are covering in any product. Art
  3. I use rod socks to keep the rods from getting all tangled up as you carry them back up to the house. Art
  4. Saves on wear and tear on the trailer tires. Art
  5. I think we all have had our say here. best to let this topic rest for awhile. Art
  6. If it does not have a crease to it you should be able to push it back out from the inside. The heat and chill works also but it stresses your paint and in some cases will cause it to peel/flake in the near future. Just keep in mind the force that created the dent needs to be counter acted by a force from the exact opposite direction in both pressure and location for the best results. Art
  7. All of the ones I have seen are a work of art by you Bernie. Thanks for bringing back the past. Art
  8. The checking and metal working details do make for added value so close ups would help. If you get them appraised pay to have this done by an appraiser. Taking them into a gunshop and you will get lowball values in hopes of them buying them at that price. Art
  9. with the barkers and the colored balloons....... Art
  10. Good to hear I have a johnson 150 on the Ranger 2 stroke and a pair of 318 Chryslers on the big boat. I have an aluminum 70 gal fuel cell that feeds the 318's and to keep the fuel healthy I have marine stabile, and an engine bay heater that keeps the tanks and engine warmer than 50F so condensation is less likely. My final protection is a good water separator that is clear and inline before it feeds the twins. The phase separation will show up in the fuel tank as small rust colored balls and only when agitated will it come out milky. Art
  11. No I didn't build them Spiel did. Art
  12. I personally find the channel cats a pain in the butt here unless I am going for a fish fry then the 3-5 lbs are my target fish. I am lucky to have the blue catfish in my area and the current Maryland record is 81 lbs and the Virginia one is 104 lbs. I fish in the Maryland waters and the boat record is 65lbs a fish we call Fluffy due to a scar she has on her side she is easily identified. We may have lost her though she has not been caught in 2 years. The average rig we use is 4/0 circle hooks with 6-12 oz of fresh cut shad on 6 oz of lead on a 3 way. I can legally run up to 10 lines but usually run 5 in case a nest of them swarms the baits. The shad we catch are caught using a 100ft gill net that a resident can purchase a license for 10 dollars per year. I so far have taken few fish over 15lbs using prepared bait. Art
  13. When catfish as a species gets larger they rarely feed on store prepared /stink baits. Fresh blood be it chicken, beef, fish and the amino acids associated with these products are what the fish feel are food. Stink baits can bring them in but it is the fresh that seals the deal. Art
  14. don't do it what will you do with the extra 2 feet if she gives you the boot. lol Art
  15. If you run the alcohol in a high concentration you have changed the oil fuel mix as well as the octane. You need to drain it out not run it out. Art
  16. I.E. is not site friendly on many of the boards. The ads are on a rotating basis that rotate on the opening of a page. Art
  17. Nice nice nice as usual Art
  18. looks like a great time how did you he keep himself that dry and clean fishing ? Art
  19. The easiest test is to place a few drops on a piece of plate glass and let it evaporate if it is just fuel then it should dry clear. http://www.boatus.com/ This is a really good source of info on boats and boating issues. Take the legal info. with a grain of salt since it is US based and geared for our laws that differ to some extent on the water. Art
  20. Check the fill cap seal some of them are on a flat surface and if the seal is bad it can drain into the tank. Art
  21. No you all chose Muskies instead lol. Art
  22. Some times item are deeply discounted below their cost that the store paid for them. The inventory system takes into account how long it has been on the shelf and how many have been sold in a set time of reference. If it is below that number it is discounted and in some cases thrown out. The store has a specific amount of money that they are allowed to keep in inventory so if it is full of slow moving stock then they do not meet there sales numbers. Some of this stock is grouped together and sold in lots and this is how you see product on discount websites that are being sold for less than what they are worth. Art
  23. Most all of what I purchase is over the internet. Some of the places are small shops and others are Bass Pro and Cab. I usually have already seen the product so now it is more about the price and availability than anything else. I guess this line of though came about trying to find parts for vintage motorcycles and cars and it has given me such good results it has carried over into the fishing world also. Art
  24. A sinko on a jighead fished regular or wacky is a good ticket. Find the wind blown shore or the dark bottomed shallows. The fish that are eating are looking for the few extra degrees of warmth those areas provide. Art
  25. The big issue on fiberglass and water intrusion is depended on a few different factors. The amount of time the hole is under water and the effects of freezing water inside of the transom. A boat that lives on a trailer will show no issues of water intrusion since it has limited time in the water. I have a trailered 1989 Ranger that has a few fiberglass dings from the old owner that went untreated for years. I sanded them back and inspected them and found no damage to the glass or structure except for a bubble in the jell coat that was easily fixed with marine tex. I did seal them all up though because if it is wet inside and the temperature goes below freezing then the ice expands and can cause damage. Case in point is my neighbors boat at the marina had a docking gash in his boat last fall and it has puffed outward below the gash from freezing over the winter. Art
