  1. O.K. the next trip out for Catfish try this. Use fresh chicken livers and treat them as though you were going to eat them yourself. The catfish are after the smell of blood and FRESH chicken livers will stay on the hook alot better. Use only the amount of weight you need to hold the bottom sometimes it is 1 oz in a lake or 3 oz in a moving river less is better. Use circle hooks 3/0 to 8/0 depending on what you can reasonably hope to catch. The circle hook is a hook that does not need to be set you wait till the fish picks it up and starts to swim away then you lightly sweep the rod tip the opposite way the fish is swimming. Most of the time you will be rewarded with a fish hooked in the corner of the mouth that is easy to unhook with little damage to the fish. When Catfishing for the big girls remember that after about 10 lb the catfish is a predator and prefers fish live or dead. The oily the better if you can get Mackerel or shad you are on the right trail. The bug thing is to cover what ever you don't want to get bitten the hands are the hardest to keep from getting snacked on but a pair of light latex gloves will keep them from bitting them. The rest of you is bug nets/chemicals and a cigar or two. If it is overcast or raining then you can bet that the catfish are looking for a meal. Rising water on a river is a good sign that the bite is on in the areas were the current is broken or eddies are swirling. Good luck and happy catfishin. Art
  2. SHHHHH.... don't tell everyone about Senko's the good colors are hard enough to find..... Nice day on the water and yeah them Senkos from Gary are the ticket almost every time. Art
  3. Pin that throttle to the stops and trim it out for max safe RPM's then hang on cause it's going to get alittle squirrely around here. Most of the time I have it running that way because it is a jet drive and their ain't much water when you are running thru the shallows and the rapids around here. I have an 84 inch wide bottom on the boat and at the correct trim my washline is 3 foot from the back of the boat and the boat is about 3 inches depth in the water. This is not how you want to run a prop boat but it shows how versatile T/T is when you need it. While in Canada I run the boat at 3/4 throttle and trimmed out to about 6 inch in the water and 5 foot of washline so I don't have to spend as much on gas. I still think that the investment of a tini tach is one of the best because it will let you trimout the boat to the most economical attitude no matter what speed you are going. Art
  4. I am sorry to hear of your fathers passing. I am sure the memories that he left behind brings joy to the people who were fortunant enough to know him. Art
  5. If you cant get ahold of a boat trailer you could rent a U Haul trailer for the day and chaulk it up with some 2x4 s . Art
  6. It is so your buddies don't see what kind of fish you caught. Art the carpless fisherman
  7. Sorry bud but I am to far away to help down here in the South. You might want to explain what a spotter does and you might get more interest. Art
  8. Yea that karma she is a good old girl. She makes sure all of the good/bad are rewarded. Working with your hands is one of the most satisfying things you can do in life. To be able to take something broken and make it work again feels really good. The interaction with the people when you can return a unit to them working again for alot less than a new one is a win win situation. With this career you should be able to work on products till you are old and grey and then have a few employee's trained up to the point were you get to just smile and greet all of the customers when you just dont quite want to get so dirty that day. I am glad that you are felling happy about were you are right now. Art
  9. Strange I checked here in the States and short is not considered a handicap ???? must be different in Canada since Roy wants a H.C. parking space.... O well I will donate the paint to you TJ if you get the permit for Roy's parking space. B. Roy's L. H. Art
  10. Ran one for years no problem with the unit. Art
  11. I will second the vote for Rick he keeps this place and a few other running just fine. Art
  12. Heres an easy one for you to do. After you clean it get a bag of charcoal yup just regular put it in the grill kind without any starter fluids ( easy light or fast lighting is bad). Place the bricketts into a mesh bag and place on top of a catch pan to catch the crumbles. Drive it around for a little while and the carbon will absorb the smell. Art
  13. I am a lowrance fan bud it is the best by far in my eyes. You can go to their website and download their emulator and take it for a test ride before you buy the unit. You might also go to tigergps.com and check their prices they seem to have a better price most of the time. Art
  14. I am so with you on this one almost 75% of the Catfish at the last tournament were found to have lied about their weight. ( strangely 100% of the 75% were wimmins type fisheeees go figure). Art
  15. Nice boat Gerrit looks like a boat you can slime and then take a garden hose to bring it back to new. If you get a chance while you are testing it make sure it does not have alot of rattles or that the hatch cover gaskets don't leak when they are in the closed position. Dont forget your buddies when we come up to Lak Air next year we need someone to show us the unicorns I mean Muskies they have their. Art
  16. Since alcohol is an oxenator it will cause all rubber products to be effected but some manufactures are using different materials to combat this problem. All of my two strokes have not had any alcohol related issues while using a good pemium oil and proper winterization should give you many happy years to come. Art
  17. Sooooo...... have you figured out how to get the ducks drunk yet??? Now thats pure entertainment. Nice floor for the new cabin it looks like you have planned for a deck on the front for those sit on the front porch kind of days. Keep us posted I think this is the first time we have actually seen pictures of you doing manual labor. B.Y.L.H. Art

  21. The best beer is "all yall's beer" It is any beer allyall are offering me from your cooler. If allyall's beer is not around then a very cold corona is a good choice. Art
  22. nice boat you all..... and nicer friend It's why he is an honorary Cajun that and he eats the same stuff we do off the side of the road. Art
  23. Some times the right thing is the hardest route. Thanks for taking it for your friend I have been down the road and cried every time from the pain of doing the right thing. Art
  24. get the tiny tach it helps you return to the speed you are trolling at. It logs the hours you have run the motor for maintenance. It will let you know when your motor is not running at the correct rpms at WOT. I have been running one on all of my boats since 96 and been very happy. The unit has only one wire that you wrap around the plug wire and the other side goes to a ground. The tini tach has its own battery inside and my oldest one that I still own is 5 years and still going. http://www.tinytach.com/tinytach/index.php Art
  25. " After taking your medication for awhile you might feel that you are better and decide to stop. Remember the medication was prescribed by your physician for you to take until he has evaluated your condition and only he can recommend when and if your dosage needs to be changed." (Jan 2007 pamphlet for lithium users to control schizophrenia) I sometimes play a DR on T.V......Art
