  1. Since I am mostly a river fisherman I have found that stocking is not near as important as if it were a lake. The migration of the fish and the amount of area to fish is one that seems to remain health as far as numbers and size go. When we have a bad year meaning flooding at spawning or drought we have a hole poked into the years recruitment class. The year before or the year after will fill this spot and few will notice the missing year. Were the issue becomes more apparent is when we lose the ability to support the fish that are already living due to either habituate loss or over fishing. The loss of habituate can be reversed in some cases by restoration of the breeding grounds and the hatchery nursery areas that have been lost. The addition of slot limits and creels limits are a good way to make sure that the area has a viable breeding stock that can help replenish the fish that are removed from the environment either by man or mother nature. 3. After living in the remote wilderness of Alabama all his life, an old hillbilly (glen) decided it was time to visit the big city. In one of the stores he picks up a mirror and looks in it. Not ever having seen one before, he remarked at the image staring back at him, "How about that! Here's a picture of my daddy." He bought the mirror thinking it was a picture of his daddy, but on the way home he remembered his wife didn't like his father. So he hung it in the barn, and every morning before leaving for the fields, he would go there and look at it. His wife began to get suspicious of these many trips to the barn. One day after her husband left, she searched the barn and found the mirror. As she looked into the glass, she fumed, "So that's the ugly carp he's runnin' around with." Art
  4. I finally got my camera back with the pictures of my new (3 weeks ago) puppy from the shelter. He is now a 3 month old Red Tick coon hound. He was born at the shelter with a litter of 8 others and is now getting used to being a farm dog. His name is Hunter and he has a nose that he uses very effectivly finding all of the bunny, deer and squirell trails that were made in the farm. Here are a few shots of him when he was 2 months old. Mycoplasma pneumonia has an incubation period of about 1 to 4 weeks. The Southern Contingency will not be able to send up our ambassadors if you all are going to let Roy get them sick. 16. I had the same motor but have never needed to get to the thermostat. The bolt that is circled is the bolt that retains the bracket I don't think the tstat is their. The only heads up I can give you is it is a twin carb feeding 3 pistons.... that means number 1 or top piston will run leaner than number 2 and 3 because it has the longest air plenum from the carbs. Make sure that the jets do not get clogged or varnished the first sign is plug 1 will get fouled out with little pieces of aluminum from the piston head. You can take the plug out and see shiny spots on the face of the piston if it is occurring at that point fatten up the carb settings before it melts the piston and sticks a ring. Other than that it was a great motor. Art

  23. O.K. now just to refresh the rules here about the upcoming winter. So far your ambassador (crappiesteve) has not sat down to negotiate the exchange of warm air for cold air polices between the North and the South. Just as soon as we get together and negotiate the winter weather we will be more than happy to send some more of this warm and glorious weather we are enjoying down here. Why the other day we were all sitting around in short sleeve shirts drinking mint julibees and fanning ourselves. If anyone else wants to step forward and start the negotiations you are more than welcome. Last years winning combanation was 1 cigar with a beer chaser delivered to me at Lak Air. As an added bonus if you all act quickly we will include 10 sunny days with no wind at no extra charge. LEGAL MUMBO JUMBO::Please remember that the delivery of warm weather is thru the same coduit that you all get ride of your cold weather thru and we can not deliver the nice warm weather if you are clogging it up. No animals were hurt during the posting of this message. The weather wizard from down under Art
  24. Glad to see you got the boat out before the big freeze. Now you know it is ready for the spring softwater season. If your feeling a little overwelmed at the ramp you can go to a parking lot with a few cones or markers and practice your backing up. Have fun and be safe. Art
  25. I feel your pain if it is a part that is aimed at a spacific product then it will be expensive. I know that some of the parts we used on the jetskis when we were racing were hand made or custom molded and were understandably pricey. Some of the seals and off the shelf parts would get lumped in with the custom parts pricing structure and they made a huge profit. If you have the time to run around and match the off the shelf parts you can save alot of money getting them from another source. You have to be careful though some products may look the same but are made out of different materials I once installed a seal that was not gas proof and ended up doing alot of work for nothing. I would say that the part cost you $10.00 and the information/assurance that it will work was the other $10.00. Would it help if you thought of it as overnight shipping and research and development charge included???? Art
