  1. We are but we are just kidding ourself that we have an answer. Black and white solutions to gray problems are rarely found by committee. Art
  2. Canada has there own gun laws that the citizens voted and approved. The US has a set of gun laws that they voted and approved. It is 2 entirely different mind sets here. You did not have a cultural background that allowed you to grow up with certain types of weapons so they seem evil to you. Examples are pistols and semi automatic weapons that resemble military arms. The M16 was the first rifle I was trained on in the SeaBees along with the M60 both are Full Automatic rifles that are ILLEGAL for any civilian to own without a very special and hard to obtain license. The AR 15 is a semi auto rifle that a trained gunsmith can alter to go full auto how ever he has committed a FELONY and risks some serious jail time. We are not trying to get full auto rifles into civilian hands but we are trying to keep the CHOICE of what we can have. I can't tell you why a gun collector needs an AR15 in his collection but I defend his right to have that. Realize that no one has ever been killed by a gun they have been killed by the person who aimed the gun. Better background checks will be ineffective some of the worst subhumans in history went undiscovered. I really don't know how to convince any of the Canadians why this is an important fight but it is. While nothing is black and white nor cut and dry but here on OFC it will continue to be debated both in wisdom and ignorance with the end result of a few smiles and a few hurt feelings. The final votes will still be cast by the people that it affects the citizens of the United States. Which if passed I hope it is not contagious and inflicts itself on Canada. Art
  3. Clean and flush out all of the oil with mineral oil available from any drug store. The unit is either over speeding due to the wrong pulley combo or the bearing is shot. It should not get hot enough for you not to be able to do a two second touch on it. The unit should be filled 2/3 full with oil for expansion. The reason not to use petroleum products are food contamination and just a little will taste horrible. As the unit heats up the oil expands and does lose some from the seal on the shaft. The worst that mineral oil will do in large enough quantity is make things "easier" in the bathroom. Art
  4. It is a pulley driven right angle gear box. If there is a plug for lubrication you would use mineral oil that is food service approved. Art
  5. Mike because the SS does not flex under take off load it gets a better holeshot , I went up 2 pitches from my aluminum prop and found no loss in my bottom end. this is on a 150 hp motor with a ranger ( heavy) boat. Art
  6. On my 150 the SS gets me 7 mph but most importantly it rides flat and on the back pad just where it should be. It is a Ranger 1985 365. Art
  7. It appears we are running out of Facts and are shifting to negative opinions and name calling. I will give it a chance to take an up tick before deciding on closing it. Art
  8. Well if you hadn't been drinking and trying to show me how fast the boat could go we would have never run OVER that island. It was not the little rash on the prop that was bad it was removing the pine trees from the rub rails that made it a pain in the butt. Art
  9. MMMMM fish and potatos. Thanks for the pictures and post. Art
  10. You got my support Capt. I think it makes sense for the change of one day to make the kick off of a season better. I would only think it would be to late only if they have printed all of the rules and reg's by now. I am very happy to see that the Lak Air Lodge will be up and running this year. Art
  11. For Bass: A good amount of the time that I use the A rig it is on calm evenings as the sunsets and I float along quietly waiting for the baitfish to be chased to the surface. I then overcast the area and drag off to the side of the baitfish with excellent results. I will also after covering the sides send it deep below the school and pick up a few more. Art
  12. I see a 20 % loss with a 3000 lb boat behind the F150. I see the same with my 1500 lb boat. The drag factor is as important as the weight. I also can burn 15 % more if I go from 55 mph to 70 mph. A boat cover that fits well and does not flap will get you back 5 %. Art
  13. I have found a tool that is part of this new board if you hover over the item if it has a use it will name itself. Art
  14. Just a side note here: The reason a thread gets locked is when things are not discussed with facts, becomes a mud slinging contest or becomes heavily trolled. As a rule all of the Mod's want to hear what you have to say and I personally have learned a great deal from everyone here. Sorry to interrupt this thread with this I just wanted to let the people know that we are human too. Art
  15. About the only good thing about not going metric is F* numbers give the perception it is warmer than it is. Art
  16. I am sure Spiel can build you a rod that fits the bill. You can also if you are looking for roller guided rods look at Saltwater rigs available more easily in USA stores. Art
  17. Cap. thanks for chiming in. I as you know have been fishing with you all for 6 years plus. I fish for pike most of the time and rarely go for Walleye but there are some big Walleye in the weeds. I do think that it should be billed as a multi species place because of the strong catches of Bass,Muskie,Perch and Pike. The Walleye I can't speak for since to me it is a by catch species in my style of fishing. Art
  18. Clear packing tape over the outside of the door lip will stop the wind and tell you what area to look at. Art
  19. Good example with the water pipe issue. Art
  20. Do what I did I sent him pictures of all of my nice fish and he said he would stock the lures that are in the picture. Says it will save him money..... Art
  21. an asian carp eats 5 to 10 percent of it's body weight per day. A cormorant eats 400-500 grams (1 lb) per day. A bag of styrofoam peanuts would be pretty dramatic per pound. Art
  22. On the Cormarand thing bring a bag with X amount of stuff equal to a days/week worth of fish they eat. Art
  23. ARRRR i'm taking a pirates stand...I'll not be fishn with any of them there T.J. shiny thing a ma bobs. Black Beard Art Arrr
