  1. Oh I am sure, but there are a wide variety of factors? Society has changed? and a much wider choice of ways to spend your recreational dollars? Why spend your money on travel and lodging costs?
  2. I'm stateside and in a rural community, we don't have government trash collection, it is done thru a private company for around 110 bucks a quarter, which can vary with the price of fuel, they tack on a fuel surcharge. Once a year, in the spring they have a community cleanup day, they park a couple of big dumpsters at the township service garage and you can bring your junk in for free, but they have some restrictions on the junk you bring in. They only accept limited amounts of tires, construction waste, and a few other items to keep people that abuse the system from taking advantage of it.
  3. Great report, nice upgrade on the gear!
  4. Yep, a small smallmouth.
  5. I never realized how quiet and peaceful life could be until my last ex wife talked me into getting my own dog!
  6. Both members of the first place team won a ranger 620 and split a check for 25k, not a bad weekend of fishing? 107 and change for 15 fish.
  7. Lost the picture myself Brian, I know that area very well, did some walleye fishing in the area myself, and a lot of bass fishing! Looking at some of the pictures? It has sure changed in 14 or so years!
  8. https://jamieschmale.ca/walleye/LarrysReport.pdf " Fishing lodge records show that almost half the guest were Americans. This was a boom time. " " The number of walleye decreased year by year. The American fisherman became increasingly frustrated by the size of their catches. The once flourishing tourist trade collapsed. " I am old, so maybe a clearer picture of the chain of events? Or just a different view of them? Walleye fishing in Lake Erie went to heck in the 50's, fishermen from Ohio, PA, NY, Mi and other states headed north to catch them. Once the rebound in Lake Erie started the need to travel hundreds of miles to catch them became unnecessary? I know very few people that used to head north for walleye that still do.

  10. I hope you heal quickly, not being able to fish or do other stuff on your own sucks!
  11. http://fox8.com/2017/06/09/hundreds-of-people-cast-their-poles-for-the-cabelas-walleye-tournament-in-lorain/ http://walleyefederation.com/twf-live-leaderboard.php Two days and a limit each day with 73.02 in the lead, not a bad average fish?
  12. LOL, my electric company has sent me a new calendar every year now for 27 years, it doesn't show the best fishing days! Should I complain? or give them a pass cause it's free? It doesn't have long range weather predictions, which were more of a concern to me.
  13. http://www.baitnet.com/search.php There also used to be a bait store right in Parry Sound? TAYLOR'S ICE & BAIT 96 JAMES PARRY SOUND ON P2A 1T9 Canada (705) 746-5495 Too many years ago for me, that might be the place?
  14. No idea what a head mount costs, but that was a lot of heads?

  16. Good read! I can't deny fishing for them here before they put closed seasons on them, but I supported that move.
  17. Welcome! nice ski, dad's make good net men!
  18. http://www.rainbowcamp.com/about-rainbow-camp.html It appears that they rent 14&16 foot boats, their store may have a map of the area? Didn't use walking sinkers often, when I did I slid them on the line, tied a swivel on the end and added a 18inch - 3foot piece of line for a leader and a hook - worm harness. 1/8th ounce jigs are fine for water less than 15 feet or so, deeper than that 1/4 might be better.
  19. That doesn't look good! Severe thunderstorm warning out here right now.
  20. Tube jigheads are never painted, since they slide inside the tube there is no reason for them to be. 1/8th to 3/8ths should be fine for where you are going, I have only used them heavier on the open waters of Lake Erie on windy days. I probably wouldn't bother with 1/16th ounce jigheads, unless you are getting them from a specialist source the hooks in them will most likely be too small,1/8th to 3/8ths should be good, and for most fishing black or white works fine.
  21. Fought just like a walleye? LOL
  22. Dang Brian! Glad you survived! I might talk to a lawyer? Sometimes after effects from a bad accident don't show up for years.
  23. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warmouth It looks like a hybrid to me?
