  1. They should have also plastered a not allowed to hunt tat on his forehead!
  2. Some, if not all grease will thicken in cold weather use, I would imagine vaseline would do the same. Probably not much of an issue if you are just dropping a lure down a hole in the ice, but it can effect casting distance on a bait caster.
  3. Hmmm? American Chestnut tree, for the most part gone, Elm trees, vanishing, Ash trees, all of mine dying. I guess if you can`t find anything else to fish for Carp are an alternative? They look like Salmon to me?
  4. LOL, agreed you can tell by the price, but fish don`t look at price tags. Those are designed to catch fishermen.
  5. Same deal here, if you are looking for fishing tackle Target isn`t the place to go. Although Kmart and Walmart here have a decent selection of lures for a beginner neither carries rods or reels I would be comfortable buying.
  6. No idea what the differences are in the newer reels, it was a step or two up in price from the old Curados. Most of the guys I know were quite content with the Curados and didn`t spend the extra money for a Calais.
  7. That orange hat with a T served Bill Dance well for a lot of years! Not hard to find a decently priced home, http://www.trulia.com/property/3025981088-116-Brooklyn-Cir-Madisonville-TN-37354 And there are a lot of 10-30 thousand acre lakes in the area.
  8. Hang up some treble hooks, it might try to breed with them?
  9. Here ya go Phil http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/Ballplay-Rd-Madisonville-TN-37354/2132448270_zpid/ google the area and expand the map, there is some water in the area and it rarely ever freezes. Of course you might have to learn how to catch bass? The southern way. LOL
  10. If you think about it, what I find disturbing? They took the manufacturing of a lot of these lures to china, where labor is 1/10 the cost? and the prices continue to go up.
  11. Well I know I still have a valve spring compressor and air fitting for the spark plug hole on a 67 Mustang in the barn some where? Had a 64 goat myself, over 40 years ago.
  12. LOL, great!
  13. Yes, Beno eel, they had a very snake like movement in the water.
  14. vinnimon, I can find nothing to indicate the company is still in business. They were a small company with a limited product line, and the fall of walleye fishing here in the 50`s and 60`s hurt them I would imagine. There were also similar looking lures, flatfish, lazy ike, canadian wiggler that were bigger companies. My best guess that finding one would be ebay, garage sales, flea markets. As I recall I used to deliver to them back in the early to mid 70`s, but really haven`t seen there lures for sale even here for a longtime. We did use them on trips up north back in the 60`s and 70`s.
  15. http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m570&_nkw=beno+lures The company that used to make them, Mill Run Products was located in Cleveland. I have no idea if they are still in business.
  16. http://www.canadaupdates.com/content/canadian-tourism-suffers-due-us-visa-restrictions and then there was this? I have seen some wack jobs here proclaim you can`t be a real American if you spend your vacation money outside the USA. Which seems to be code for we will make it harder for you?
  17. It takes money to do anything? Like some one mentioned New York`s population is almost 1/3 of all of Canada`s? While it may seen very important to locals there is a whole nation`s, whole province`s fisheries to fund? Even Ohio with roughly 1/9 the land area has a relatively similar population, and far less water related issues to fund. I inquired some years ago about buying a home on a lake in New York, just a small bungalow, but lakefront property, which made it a luxury subject to a 25% tax on the purchase price. The postage stamp property, maybe 50x120 carried a property tax burden of over 5500.00 a year in property taxes. Ohio passed state taxes to acquire land for parks and such, some lakefront. Some local communities have also realized the added value of sport fishing and boating minded tourism and acquired land on their own through local taxes.
  18. I am in the states, but I talked with a lady for a couple of hours and had no idea she was using it until she mentioned it. Magic jacks website had a connection speed tester on it, it`s been a while since I have looked. Supposedly google is working on internet phone service.
  19. I had bunks on mine also, never ran into a place I couldn`t launch it, a beach or a big rock worked.
  20. "closed faced reel and a worm on a jighead." LOL actually my preferred method most of the time, for one simple reason, if you can locate the fish it works. Too many fall for the hype of the latest products.
  21. Canadian Bacon was on TV yesterday, maybe some took it seriously? LOL you are our 51st state! Lucky you!
  22. I really never had those problems with it, but if I felt the slightest nick in my line I would cut it and retie. A keeper sometimes could mean money or not, I always hated losing fish.
  23. Just something to consider down the road, the reels that are more widely in use now will likely have more replacement parts available later. Shimano, Diawa, Abu, and possibly Quantum parts are usually found at a decent tackle shop.
  24. I was a die hard night fisherman, just to avoid the crowded water here in part. Bass had no problem finding 4 inch plastic worms in the dark, 1/8 ounce jigs and pork-plastic. Use a rattle if it increases your confidence, as a change of pace, but I don`t see a need. Maybe a noisier lure when more boating-fishing activity may help during the day? but I never found it to make much of a difference.
  25. My condolences to the family and friends.
