<---- filled up a couple days before Christmas using my grocery store perks card for like 2.39 a gallon. I think it is around 3.89 a gallon here now, but I still have 3/4ths of a tank left from the Christmas fill up. I guess being disabled has one advantage?

I will have to look Phil, as I recall the molds called for a size 6 hook? I opened things up to take a 1-1/0 on the drill press with an end cutter. As I recall I have 1/16th and 1/8th. Another consideration, a lot of fishing pressure on the lakes here, some times throwing what everyone else is just isn`t a good plan? If you are the 50th guy to pitch a jig and pig to a dock or stump in a couple of hours the fish might just not show an interest.

Looks like a shiner to me, and my live bait of choice for everything big enough to eat them. If I found a school of them up north on vacation? I would stop and fish for them, emergency bait for when lures weren`t getting the job done.

I fished for L/M and S/M, I probably still have about 800 tubes around here, but probably only a couple dozen over 4 inch. If the bite was tough but I felt the area was holding fish? Bust out the spinning rod and work it with 2 inch crappie tubes. Bass aren`t always aggressively feeding, sometimes they will take a snack. I did make my own tube jigheads and altered molds for crappie tube jigheads to take a larger stronger hook.

No worries Phil, a glance once a year or so will do, I don`t move fast enough to get out of visual range. Besides one of us has to keep the sheephead population down?

That brings back memories, when my kids were young my neighbors on one side also had young kids. Every spring they would go out and buy 50 chicks and raise them for food, it only took like 6-8 weeks for them to be eating size? All the kids had a strange fascination with slaughter day. My kids would be up at dawn to attend the "event". Maybe it was because of the chicken dinner after it? Talk about smell? They had the chickens, goats, sheep, horses, dogs and cats, all on only 4 acres of land. They would dump the manure-waste from all of them on one pile in their yard and roto-till it into the ground, for like a week after being outside could gag you. My first ex got my dad six baby geese one Easter as a joke, they also grow very fast. He couldn`t walk around the yard with out his herd following him, but they made good watch dogs. They would kick up a fuss any time some one that didn`t live there came over. Kids have a lot of fun with animals.

If you think about it, it`s sort of hard to get fish to bite at 50 mph? 50 mph is got to get you around nicely on most bodies of water, you may be at a disadvantage if you plan on tournament fishing all the time, but I was competitive running a 35 hp motor here, on an aluminum boat though.

Pictures of them record size fish sort of shoots the old adage " a picture is worth a thousand words " dead in the azz. A picture now seems to start a million questions. I was always able to find better things to do with my time than worry about people believing my fish stories! Maybe they will require the fish to produce a birth certificate?

I have one, but it is like 10+ years old, never had an issue with it. Sort of a unique rod, for a limited time they made a flipping stick with a spinning rod eyes and handle which is what I have. Falcon Lowriders have been popular in this area for a long time.

Thanks ah, daughter #2 telling me what daughter #1 is telling her, and she is a blonde. For some reason when I tried to google map it everything came up in Chinese. I think I mentioned, my son in law designs prefab building sections, for homes and commercial building. From what I understand China is spending huge amounts of money on their infrastructure, and I would think that prefabricated sections would speed up the building process for either. A bigger city with labor available, access to materials and transportation also makes sense. Some concern over schools? do they go to school 7 days a week there? If so I would imagine more advanced at an earlier age as far as grade placement?

Ok the name of the city is Hubei, and it`s in the province of Wuhan? Not sure if it is called a province though.

ah, I am going to have to have her email me the name of the city, I don`t want to risk trying to say it or spell it. Heck I get culture shock anytime I travel south of Ohio, but the people have been nice. My son in law just came back from South Africa just before Christmas, but he was only there for about 5-6 weeks and didn`t take the wife and kids. The biggest problem for them will be the time frame, they have to leave early in May, it doesn`t give them much time to figure out what to do with their home and cars for a year.

LOL, I wish Bill Dance or KVD had competed in our local events... not! they were hard enough as is.

Thanks bassfighter, I collected old fishing reels for a time, it seemed unusual to me that the Japanese were not afraid to send cash for their purchases. It wasn`t unusual for me to open an envelope and find 300-500 cash in it. Not something I would have done here, but I never had an issue with any of my dealings with the Japanese. Never did any with the Chinese. Just my view to my kids? go for it! I passed on a lot of adventures when I was young due to work limits and family limits. If they have the opportunity to do it together? go!

Kids that work have less free time to get into trouble? and that buck fifty a day (1.50 ?) teaches them finances? Look at what it has taught us? Americans and Canadians will pay top dollar for tackle made by people who work for less a day than we would work for per hour? Me leave the country? maybe to head north.

My daughter told me the name of the city, but I have no idea if she pronounced it right, or how it is spelled. If they have schools for English speaking kids? it must be a pretty good sized city or town? No mention was made if the company has set up their own facility there to teach the kids. Just my understanding that the son in law is showing the people there how to do stuff and train them to trouble shoot. The way the population over there is, prefab housing or buildings may be a quick fix for them? I am sure it will be an adjustment, but getting paid to learn can`t be all bad? Chinese translators may become in big demand here? My daughter works in the banking industry, so it probably would be a plus for her also? Nice to be able to tell them the check is in the mail in Chinese just in case they start calling in our debt?

Thanks guys! The only country I ever got dragged through was Ontario, and usually I started loading the car first! Son in law is sort of an engineer? He designs (cad-cam) pre-fab building structures, but also worked in the plant making them and trouble shooting, so he knows how to deal with problems that may arise. I told my daughter to go for it, the company is paying for them to learn Chinese, covering any loss they may take on selling their home, and a 30% pay raise. I don`t really like to see the kids and grandkids that far away, but most people couldn`t afford a trip there on their own, so a learning experience? Jackie, one of my kids tackle shopping? that thought scares me! especially if they were doing it for me! They just never showed the love of the sport. Lew, I still think about Jim and that happening, and still can`t even imagine it. Just my view from the news, the culture in the Asian countries seems to be better than here? No or little looting in Japan, a more structured society? Just guessing China is even tighter? Grand daughter is 13, might be a good idea for some space between her and her friends here for a while? KVD seems kind of focused on his sport? Is it wise to challenge some one with that talent to focus on yours? You get to count follows? Sort of like counting your chickens before they hatch?

Generally if you can use one bait caster you can use any of them, it`s more a matter of preference than anything else. That particular model isn`t old as far as reels go, early 90`s? maybe late 80`s? JMHO, Abu seemed to get out of the concept of producing a quality reel that would be around for years and brought out a bunch of short lived product lines. New and improved seems to mean they found a way to make it for less and make more profit on them. That reel should be fine to use, throw some line on it and start practicing.
