  1. Nice healthy looking 'eye, congrats!
  2. I've heard there are some spots in China that use that technique and a (pool-type) net. For me, the most versatile would be the jig and twister tail grub.
  3. It may not be read or heard here on this site but, for all the Canadian Veterans of the wars, let me say: THANK YOU!!!!!!!! Thank you for making Canada and the world a better place to live. Stan
  4. That is truly a work of ART!!! :clapping:
  5. Congrats Dave!!! Definitely sounds like something to look forward to. Great cause and a great guy to do it with! Go Dave!!
  6. I was looking at something like that recently, I've come across something called Soap Nuts, a naturally occurring fruit which shell produces a substance that could be used for soap or shampoo. Sounds interesting, but I would need to test it out first.
  7. Niiiiice fish Raf!! Just wondering, after a fish like that I would be grinning from ear to ear, you almost seem disappointed in that pic. Give yourself a good pat on the back after that fish!
  8. They should do that with all the raccoons too. Maybe that would make a dent in the cormorant population.
  9. Fantastic outing with your daughter Mike! She definitely has your fishing genes and angling desire! Your little piece of heaven definitely adds to the experience I'm sure. My daughter is the same age but doesn't have the angling desire as yours or Cliff's daughter. Sounds like maybe we should set up an OFC father and daughter weekend or something.

    Intro

Welcome to the board K F, look forward to some posts and good luck on the musky this season.
  11. My friends that were on the receiving end of this incident have not been the ones indicating any racism remarks, it's been the media that has been pushing for a racial part. My friends had made it clear that they feel that it was an isolated incident (cottager) and not the area. They have repeatedly mentioned how nice everyone in the area were. Please leave the racial card out of this argument, it is more about the illegal actions the individual committed and yes, the local police are now involved and trying to get the other side's story. Thanks for trying to keep things civilized.
  12. If this is the case, I'd also be inclined to determine which size of bass would make the most negative effect on the walleye. I wouldn't want the bass to be over harvested either or make too much negative impact to the better breeding/stock population. In all, I think it's just more moderation we need to consider. I would suggest targeting more panfish as their population seems to be able to manage the pressure.
  13. Another Epic GEM report Drew!!! I'm saddened to think that it may be one of the last if not the last itself. But I'm sure the reports from wherever you end up fishing will be great. Congrats on the Sturgeons! Beautiful SR brookie! Oh and I can't forget those amazing pics of the scenery, definitely a place in God's country!! Thanks for taking the time for posting that amazing report. Stan
  14. May have to wait another day or two. Police have been notified and mentioned that they may look into it. Sad about the angler on Pigeon
  15. Yes, my friend had told me that it would make the evening news as the media were all over it once a local fishing club representative got notified. I've not seen the news clip but have been told by my friend that his intentions were NOT to stir up any problems other than to make it aware to anglers that there are some disrespectful people out there. He tried his best to mention it may well be just an isolated incident as he felt the majority of the cottagers and other watercrafters that went by were very nice.
  16. It's fine for now, gotta see how it holds up in the afternoon.
  17. I was surprised too of the news. RIP Peter Zezel.
  18. A well made split bamboo fly rod may be very expensive. Look into it a bit more before being too rough on it. A quick google search: prices range from $500 to $2100.
  19. About $150 plus taxes. Good for 90 days. I suggest to consider it during the winter months not so much during the summer.
  20. Although colors are nice, that first pic in black and white would look good printed in a scrapbook
  21. Now there's a nice slab!!! Live bait may catch more but it's not as fun if you ask me when compared to fishing a jig or fly.
  22. Congrats Johnnyb on your PB and the news of the little girl! Fantastic pics, thanks for sharing. Hope you get into the brookies on your next outing.

  24. Been slow earlier for me too, went to the back up on facebook but it didn't have much going on there. Glad to see things are up right now.
  25. My friends are of senior ages and I don't think they would have been able to put up much of a fight in that circumstance. Anyhow, if anyone comes across seeing a similar incident around Delhi point (hope I spelled that correctly) near Fenelon falls I hope you will consider lending a hand to a fellow angler. In the meantime, I hope cool heads and understanding prevails. Be safe, Stan
