  1. I had an 04 f150 and when it was time to change tires (same size as yours) my compromise between price and looks were Bridgestone Dueller AT2's from Costco. The reviews were good and they came to about $1200 installed. I had them on for a full winter and up to July when I got rid of the truck and I never had a complaint about them.
  2. Lowrance is doing the same thing with Motorguide from what I have been told. I have used HB 300's, 500's, and 700's as well as the Elite 5DSI (Old version of the HDI). If you were asking last year, I would say that the Elite is easier to navigate through the screens but the HB is better because you could get the Down imagining as well as 2D sonar. With Lowrance coming out with the HDI, they now also offer dual imagine in a 5" screen so I would go that route. After reading through the other posts. I should mention some other things I have heard that may sway you (Towards HB. I am trying to be honest here after all). I have not had to use warranty so I am still happy with Lowrance. - With either brand you get, expect to have to purchase another chip if you fish inland lakes. The chips that come with both of the units only contain information on Navigabl;e waters. Meaning, it covers most of the larger bodies of water that have Bouy's in them. You will need to by Hotmaps for other areas. - With the Lowrance, (I cannot recall with the HB), you need to tell the finder to use the chip. When you first boot up, you will have to go into the setting of the unit and select the area you are looking for (There are 3 if I remember correctly). If you do not do this, you will not see anything. -Warranty/Customer Service. The one Tackle store I frequent the most has now twice stopped carrying Lowrance. He brought them in again this year only to discontinue selling them after finding out that the issues he had previousl had, are not sorted out. His main issue with Lowrance is Warranty. It seems to have been outsourced. He and many others in that store have told me how easy it is to get service out of Humminbird. If an update doesn't work, send it in to Hummindbird and they will fix it for you... I haven't heard anything good about Lowrance customer service in a long time. My biggest gripe about the Humminbird units is that if you go past the screen you want, you have to push the button several times to get back to where you want (unless you have a 7 series with customizable pre-set buttons). With the Lowrance, it is push the pages button and pick the screen you want... In my eyes now, the only place that the Humminbird will shine is that is has a slightly better resolution that Lowrance. That would not be enough to sway me towards it though. So unit wise, I lean towrads the Lowrance. Warranty/Customer Service, it seams Humminbird is the way to go. Adam
  3. Congrats man!!! The wife and I quite in the early part of the summer. The first couple of days are always the worste. We quite using Champix although we were only on it for a month or so. We both really wanted to quite so when we had stopped for long enough we decided to put the money we were spending on smokes to use on something better. We both bought new vehicles. Now, even if I wanted to start again, I couldn't afford it... It is also nice to be able to look out at something as a constant reminder that it wouldn't be there if you were still smoking... On a fishing related note, I find the years I am fishing and not smoking, I catch more fish. I don't know if it is in my head or if the scent of the smoke transfers to the bait and I get less hits but this summer was a great one for fishing. Adam.
  4. I bought a terrova with ipilot a few years back and love it. The reason I chose the terrova has been listed above but it breaks down like this. Foot pedal - the terrova foot pedal is better laid out and easier to use. It also seems to not break as often. I have read from multiple sites and multiple peoe that buying a PD pedal yearly at $150.00 is not uncommon And also that the PD pedal shorts when it gets wet as well. I hadn't read a single problem about the terrova pedal but mine is in for warranty work because the speed selector is not working properly. It didn't leave me stranded, but is running at a different speed than what is showing (set the pedal to 5 and the ipilot show 2.5.) Stow - Deploy system. The PD system is a pain to stow and deploy. My father has one and it is quite hard to use. It is also known to let go while travelling at high speeds and ends up bending the shaft. I have not heard of this problem with the terrova but I bought a ram mount but in case to hold it in the stowed position and reduce the amount of bounce. The turning is faster as the motors for steering are more powerful. When you really start comparing the two, the $200.00 is money well spent in my eyes. The terrova with ipilot is Minn Kota's most expensive TM so you know they are not going skimp on it. Adam
  5. A 60" shaft should be more than long enough and I wouldn't go any lower than an 80# model. There is nothing worse than an underpowered TM. I have a terrova with I pilot and love it but they are expensive. Your next option for cheep would be the powerdrive with basic foot pedal. Because it is electric steer, the cable is about 20 feet long and can be put almost anywhere on the boat. The terrova is the same but has a better designed foot pedal. Both motors can function with the copilot as well which would give you your remote should you want it.
  6. Glad you have decided to look at the 4X4 options. Just bought a 2013 sierra because fo all of the incentives and 0% financing and dont regrett it at all. There are wicked deals out there right now if you look for them. I previousely had a 2004 F150 Lariat and it was a great truck for pulling and all around familly use. The only reason I got rid of it was because it was starting to cost a lot to keep it on the road and it had no rockers or cab corners left. It had 200K on it when I got rid of it. The one weird thing I found is that my F150 sat about 2-4 inches higher than my new sierra (I even have the z71 off road package) which make it difficult to take the boat off of the hitch in my Garage. I had turn the portion of the hitch that holds the ball around and re install the ball to get the clearence I need to get my trailer jack to click into place. I plan on jacking it up a bit when the warranty runs out but for now, it works fine. I personally have only had to use 4X4 at a ramp once but I fish the same bodies of water and launch in the same areas most of the time. The biggest issue I have come to see is the degree on incline on gravel or muddy launches. Other than that, I usually launch in 2wd.
  7. Do you have any idea at what type of plans the bug 3 have for BB's for the government? Let's just say that I pay about 3 times the amount for my iPhone than they do for a single blackberry. The other issue is that it takes for ever to approve any other phones in the government networks and I don't believe the want to spend the time or money to approve an iPhone or android device. The only reason BB is still around is because of the government and other smaller businesses using it.
  8. I love my iPhone 4 and will be upgrading to a new one when my plan is up for renewal. I have not used a BB but from what everyone has told me, the only item it excels at is their mail system. Mine only pushes to the phone every 5 minutes ( this is the fastest setting but I just check whenever I feel like it) where the BB will do it instantaneous. Other than that, I understand why they are having troubles competing. For your carrier, I used to be with Rogers but switched when my term was up. I was on a three year term and had a phone under my familly plan for my mother. When she passed away, they would not let me out of the contract unless I forked over something like $400.00 so I just kept the phone I until my term was up. When I called to cancel and switch to Telus, they told me they would have waived the cancellation fee for my moms phone. Honestly I felt the right hand didnt know what the left hand was doing. My other issue is that my cottage is near Cornwall and with Rogers, I would get charged roaming when I was still in Canada because the closest tower was in the us. With Telus, this is still a bit of an issue but he phone allows you turn on and off roaming so u haven't had any issues. Coverage in my area is also better with Telus. I still think Vell has the best canada wise coverage but Telus has never given me issues.
  9. Although it is a valid concern if you want the most performance out of your boat, I also don't find that to be a big deal. My boat s rated for a 135 and has a 75 on the back of it. It hits 40 MPH with the right prop and only loses about 1mph with 3 people in it instead of just me...
  10. Helped my Dad purchase a 1994 lund pro angler 1700 with a 1993 75 suzuki 2 stroke on it for $5500 this year so I would think the $8500 figure would probably be pretty close to what to expect to pay. But as Glen said, it is the cheapest time of year to purchase a boat. And I think what the OP is trying to say is that it is a Merc Motor that was built by Yanaha. My 2006 4 stroke is the last year they did that i beleive.
  11. If you have never used them, you wouldn't know the difference. After using them, I will never go back to cheap sunglasses. I have a pair of Oakley fishing specific straight jackets with Shallow Blue Irridium lenses that are 2 years old and still kicking. I just bought a pair of Revo Guide Small glasses with the shallow water lense and don't like them near as much as my old oakleys. I keep both on me when fishing though as the oakleys are great for overcast days and the Revo's work great when downright sunny. When I used to buy $20.00 glasses, I would break them within a week. I usually end up losing them now before even coming close to breaking them. For the record, I have lost 3 pairs in 6 years so by the time I "lose" them, I am ready for a new pair anyway.
  12. I cannot say enough good things about the sick sticks. They work amazangly well and have literally been the reason for me not being skunked once this year. I use the 1/16 oz weighted Buckeye Flick-it hooks with them as this is all that I could find it the store I frequent. I cannot complain about these hooks at all and all of my hooks have been set within 1 inch of the lip. The weed Guard on the other hand just seems to get in the way so I cut it off. All I can say though is that if you are getting moderate success, keep at it a little more and try with a weighted hook. I bought these worms and hooks last year and tried it once. It did not produce. My buddy outfished me 2 to 1 the first time we were out with this technique (I was using a weightless tube) so I decided to give it another try and boy am I happy I did. The extra weight makes the worm almost bend in half when you flick the rod and when the lure is falling, it makes the worm shimmy (for the lack of a better word) to the point where the fish cannot resist. I have gotten in the habbit of ordering right off their site because they give pretty good discounts for bulk orders of worms (25Pack). Adam
  13. Of it looks like it is going to be a tough job, I grab my Berkley lip grippers that I usually reserve for pike. They keep my hands away from the trebles and don't let go until I tell them to
  14. What matters to me is the realism of the boait for hardbaits and scent for plastics. If a harbait looks realistic, it will grab my attention. If it is from a reputable comapny, I am almost always sold. For plastics and their scent... GARLIC. anything else just doesn't produce the same.
  15. Lol, I was going to tell you to get a 734 champion as it works great for me. What did you order?
  16. My bass tracker came with a guest charger when it was bought in 2006. I sold it 2 years ago and it was still running strong. I needed to go to a 3 bank and would have bought another guest but I knew someone who was selling a Minnkota 330 charger and bought that instead. He had it for 4 years and it is still running strong. When I buy a new one (on a new boat), it will be another minn kota just because they charge faster. The guest was a 4/4 and took over 10 hours to charge the TM batteries from a half charge. The 330 (10/10/10) can charge all three of my batteries within 4 hours.
  17. My buddy has an s10 zr2 and the paint was flaking at the bottom of the fenders. His hadn't started rusting so before that happened he brought it to lined and had them lined the bottom if the truck to the body line a of ten inches up. I think it looks really good would consider doing it myself if I ever had a problem. His truck is white and the lines is black so it looks good.
  18. I believe it is new this year but it doesn't matter what the problem is, if the check engine light is on, it is an automatic fail. Don't gen bother going if the light is on.
  19. Oddly enough, this is what I have been doing while I wait for my part to come in and what I did before hand as well. Provided the nut is tightened enough, it probably wouldn't even slide out of the holder with the nut flush against the bracket. I just prefer to not have to adgust the nut every time and the mount provides a good brace to transfer shock away from the unit.
  20. I read many many posts regarding this very issue. Usually the complaint was a $100-$200 bent shaft and not just some cheap parts. Ram mounts, as stated above make a mount that attaches to the shaft. I have one for my terrova and it takes any play out of the unit. The downside is I ended up losing half of it in the water the other day. It costs 20 bucks to get the part I need.
  21. I use the rubber net. I love it because it doesn't tangle at all.
  22. I had a 2007 civic that was white as well with disc brakes all around. I never had brake dust like that so unless they changed their brake pad manufacturer or something, there would be no reason for that much dust to accumulate so quickly.
  23. I started my son off with one of the Shakespeare kicker mouse combos. He loved it but soon gre out of it so I grabbed a cheap Zebco spincast combo that floated at ctc. It was one of the worste combos (the rod anyway) I had ever used so I went and bought him a fenwick baitcaster rod and kept the spincast reel which he is still using today.
  24. Yeah, I saw it there as well but the shimano site did not mention it so I was confused. Someone else confirmed wih that via Facebook and shimano has bow added that it comes with x ship on their website. The more I read about it, there may actually be a need to swap at least one of my ci4's out
