  1. I have heard good and bad about the deka's. the marina I use used to carry deka and switched to interstate because they had too many coming back. If you got 7 years out of the old ones though, you really can't complain. I haven't heard anything bad about the kirkland's from Costco and you really can't complain about the price. If I remember correctly they are made by johnston controls.
  2. I personally don't see the point but I have read some interesting arguments about why there are still differences and not one global market product. Apparently, us North Americans are a lot harder on our reels than our Japanese counter parts. That is one if the reasons we have a anti reverse pawl I. Our shimano baitcasters like the curado where their scorpion only has the bearing.
  3. I do like the fact that Abu Garcia will be allowing select e-tailers to carry their Jdm reels. It would be pretty cool if I could get a revo elite 8 up here without having to order it from Japan. I would prefer to get a shimano or daiwa but I have no issues with Abu either
  4. Where did you read it has x ship? I only ask because I am certain it does but it is not listed as a feature on the shimano website. One of the guys on another forum was considering buying one but only if it had x ship and when he saw that on shimano's site, he was pretty dissapointed. I am still of the impression it has it, I just wante to see it from a reputable source.
  5. Well, I am glad someone understood what I wrote!!! apparently typing out a few sentances on an iphone while extremely tired is not a good idea. I originally was all over the T3 reels. Loved the concept and hated the looks so I held off. The Tatula has a great design and still icorporates the T wing system so I will at least be checking it out.
  6. Those are all awesome looking baits. I am lookin forward to seeing the chronarch ci4+ reel I person but it looks a lot better than I thought it would. I was thinking it would be like the 2013 metanium. I read the product write up of the Tatula on tackletour and it may be the reel that makes me go try a daiwa. I have never been a daiwa vs shimano kind of guy and have had almost all other major brands except daiwa so it could be exciting
  7. What is this Bassomatic? I tried looking it up on Google and all I get are videos of Dan Acroyd putting fish in a blender...
  8. I-pilot with trolling motor is by far the most expensive favourite gadget but the boomerang clip line cutter is by far th bast bang for buck I have on the boat. Those rod socks are a close second though
  9. Simple solution would be to take the leads from the charger that is on the battery that is charged and place it the battery that says check connection. If the battery mysteriously charges, the fuse it probably shot. If not, you probably need a new battery but 7 years is awesome to get out of any battery. I would replace them both at the same time. It will help to insure that your motor runs properly and you wouldn't get much more out of the other battery anyway.
  10. There should be some numbers stamped into the prop you have now. Locate them and bring them to the place you plan on buying the prop from. If you cannot find or read the numbers on the prop, any marina should still be able to help you out if you bring them the year, make and model number of your motor. There could also be a couple of tags on the motor that will help you with any other info they may need. Replacing a prop is quite easy so I would say yes it is true provided you have the right tools.
  11. I have two spinning set ups. Both reels are Stradic ci4's and both have 20 pound power pro. I love the sensitiviiy of braid and I fish a lot of thick cover with wacky worms, tubes, weighted worms, and flukes. I even used one of them for jerkbaits for the last two seasons. I don't currently use a floro leader but when I would fish jerkbaits, I would tie on a 4 or 5 foot leader in about the same pound setting. It is going to come down to personal preference but for me, of my 7 setups, only 2 don't have braid. Those are my spinnerbait/top water rod (mono because I like the stretch) and a crankbait/jerkbait setup ( floro to get the bait down further and for low visibility)
  12. Those mowers are over $700.00. You pay it knowing it will last a lifetime. A little maintenance is all it needs and it will be cheaper than buying a cheaper run of the mill lawnmower.
  13. I would agree with misfish. I hae a similar mower and never had any issue. I would suggest a tune up all around. Change the plug and the filter.
  14. Alright, with a story like that, it is no wonder this guy was grateful. I would be crying if that went missing on me and I know the other half would have been pissed. Good on you for being honest!!!!
  15. The install is straight forward but what issues do your foresee having? I just installed a 561 on the bow of my boat and a 788 on my dads console. If I remember correctly, I pre drilled 4 holes for the base mount on the dash and now and 2 holes for the transducer in my dads. I think one would do on the transducer but I would prefer not to mess with their recommendations.
  16. I would suggest trying to part it out. All if your add one will fetch good money but as pork pie said, the hull is going to hurt you. You might get lucky though. For $15000.00 I would be tempted to grab it and swap out everything on my current boat and sell the hull separately
  17. Now that it is gone, what type of rod and reel combo was it? Just wondering exactly how great ful this guy was...
  18. I never have but it is probably because I don't have anywhere to keep it in the car ( my rods are all 1 piece). My buddy used to keep gear there until someone stole about $1000.00 worth of gear out of it. He figured it was safe being locked in a car in a secure underground apartment garage. He quickly figured out he was wrong.
  19. Yeah, Easy way to figure it out with that show is to see if Bob is wearing columbia gear or fishing with Shimano equipment. If he is, it is old.
  20. Way better than my opening week!!! Got out once... Caught a few and headed home. Nothing as fine as the ones you caught though. Congrats
  21. Haha, If you bought it for the GPS capabilities, you are pretty much stuck with buying the maps. The hotmaps is pretty good and the upgrade from your previous fish finder will definitely be noticeable. Being able to mark way points is a great feature. If you need help installing it, let me know although I am sure you can handle it. Adam
  22. Hey Matt, Your other option would be to download the navionics charts to your iPad and get a waterproof case. It would probably costs the same amount as the hotmaps premium but you would have a bigger screen to look around on. Ram mount also makes a mount to attach the iPad to your console securely. When you are done fishing, you just unhook the iPad and go home.
  23. I would suggest the Dobyns Savvy 733 as well. The rod is quite nice and is pretty sensitive for that price of rod. If you can find a used one, a champion 733 or a dx744 would be amazing but you may have an issue finding one of those in your budget. As for warranty, if the store carries the rod and you break it, hand over the 60 or so bucks and they hand you a new one no questions asked. I slammed a tip in the rod locker, told the owner of the store what I did and his exact words were, "You wouldn't be getting a new rod out of shimano..." If you believe it broke because of manufacturing defects, it works a little different but I don't think just because of their customer service, I continue to buy these. Adam
  24. Sounds like a snakehead.
  25. Yep, your charging is your problem then. As stated above, either buy a 2 bank charger or charge one at a time. No need to disconnect with most chargers. Just put red to positive and black to negative on the same battery.
