50 something years ago when I was in the Navy one of our ships electricians was changing a 440 amp fuse. Nobody really knows what happened but he somehow touched the contacts with bare hands and was blown across the room and instantly electrocuted. We were only a couple hours helicopter fight to a land based hospital but he was dead while we were loading him aboard. Lousy story but it shows that even well trained guys can get in huge trouble with electricity.

Here's a couple articles in local papers about the ignorant jerks that fish Chemong Causeway. I fished that lake for years and it's really hard to fathom what slobs some people really are. Lots of other lakes have the same issues and it's no wonder so many fishing spots are getting more difficult to access. Stop in at Easton Truck Caps on the 115 Shane, it's where I got mine and he often has a good supply of used ones and they're good folks to deal with.

A bud and I fished a couple musky tournies about 10 years ago and although they were on-line tournaments they may work the same but I honestly don't know. The 1st year we had about 48 teams and it was done every month from June thru November. We would be paired against another team and the winning team advanced to the next month and the losing teams were eliminated. Next month was the same and at the end of the fishing season there would only be 2 teams left and they fished off against each other. The day before each tournament we would be told of an object that had to accompany each fish picture and that would eliminate any chance of guys entering old pictures of big fish. We were taken for our word on the size of each fish and as far as we knew nobody was ever accused of lying. Teams fished any lake they wanted in Canada or the States. We did well and won the 1st tournie and the next year I think we placed 4th out of 60 teams. In this picture you can see and egg beater hanging around my neck mid chest and each day it was a different item. Probably different for a live tournament but this may give you an idea.

I spent a day chasing muskies with the owner of Husky Musky, he's a good guy and does indeed make quality leaders.

Beauty fish Mike and congrats on another milestone. Nothing more fun than a biggun hammering your baits right beside the boat.

I normally use an Xtang Tri-Fold hard tonneau but when we travel and carry alot of bulky stuff I figured a cap would be much better for the extra room. I only use it a few times a year so bought a used one in excellent condition from Easton Truck Caps on hwy 115 for a great price and then had a local body shop paint it to match the truck. Plenty of room inside now and has sliding windows with screens for extra ventilation. I built a frame work at the back of the yard hidden behind the garage and I can easily remove the cap or re-install it myself in about 30 minutes and the Xtang goes back on in 5 minutes.

Really nice chunky fish for only being 39" Dan.

We'll be married 51 years next month and I can honestly say I've never forgotten our anniversary, I did however forget Valentines Day one time and that was pretty near as bad as forgetting an anniversary LOL

Maybe there's some sorta military exercise going on as 2 more Hornets just passed directly above the house again but watching them and hearing the roar never gets old. Nope, no more muskies for me Drew, my fishing days are far behind me now and the funny thing is I don't miss it at all. ...weird eh ?? LOL.

One of the very few things I miss about living in Toronto was watching the old warplanes, including the Lancaster, flying around the city for a few days prior to the airshow. My Mom's brother was a bomber pilot during the war and was killed when his plane went down but unfortunately I don't know what kind of plane it was....maybe even a Lancaster ?? During my Navy days we worked with the Bonnie alot and it was a real sight watching the planes taking off and landing not too far away from us.

Out working in the yard this afternoon and hear this roar coming towards me and look up to see a CF-18 Hornet flying right above the house. Couple months ago I saw 2 others flying overhead early on a Sunday morning. Extremely impressive to see & hear them flying by and good to know these guys (and ladies) are keeping us all safe.

Shane, there's a place on hwy 36 a couple miles east of Buckhorn and he has a huge amount of large logs piled up and it appears as if they cut them into smaller pieces. I don't know anything about the operation and there's no phone number posted anywhere or even a name but maybe if you search the web you can find something. It's only a few miles from me and I was by there today but didn't see anyone around and can't offer you anymore than that.

Wish I'd known you needed wood a couple months ago Shane as I just got rid of my airtight wood stove down in the family room and replaced it with a propane. I sold 1 1/2 bush cords of split & dried hardwood for $200

Morning boys, I've posted this picture before but it's one I like and is a big ole bear that was sleeping in my back yard when I came out on the deck early one morning a couple years ago. I always keep a camera by the back door just for chances like this. Anyhoo, I'm just heading out now for my morning jaunt and hopefully don't come face to face with Momma & the kids again

Hi guys, I'm up on the West Arm of Nippissing for a couple weeks on an annual trip. I don't fish any more but enjoy hiking around the area and walk 4 km every morning at sunrise. Seeing lots of bear, deer and moose tracks but today I got a bit too up close and personal with some local critters. I was walking down a dirt road when something moved just to my right and a little bear cub popped out from behind a tree and then his little brother showed up too. I figured Momma must be close by and sure enough she came out in front of me too and gave me a nasty stare I won't soon forget. We've got bears around my place in the Kawarthas and see them the odd time but I've never been face to face with a pi$$ed off Momma bear and her kids before. Sure is nice seeing the critters up close in their natural setting but 100' might be just a tad closer than I want the next time LOL

Never fished muskies in the main lake Dave but have always done very well over the years on the West Arm. Best places I always found were in about 8-9 feet of water around heavy cabbage and rocks throwing big spinnerbaits & bucktails....orange and black was always a pretty good combo. Don't know if the same tactics will work on the big lake but may be worth a try if you find the cabbage & rocks. Best of luck.

I caught my 1st musky about a bazillion years ago and killed it, ate it and then had it mounted. Always regretted doing it but that's just the way it was done back in the day

Same issue for me, I've got about 3500 pictures in 15 different albums and the album download won't work yet it was fine a couple days ago so I'm also doing them 1 x 1 At least I've still got access to my pictures and can still post them on websites but who know for how long.

Sounds like this musky I got on the St. Lawrence River a couple years back, barred on the back half and clear on the front half. Some kool looking fish swimming around our waters for sure.

And if your looking for a fantastic meal head a couple miles east of Barry's Bay to the town of Wilno and go into the Wilno Tavern. It's exactly 100 miles from my house to there and we go up several times a year for lunch.
