  1. I honestly don't know jimmer but I spose it's likely as they definitely have similar markings. This is a Lake St. Francis (St. Lawrence River) fish with some very interesting markings. This is another I got the same day. And this big girl came from the same area 10 or 12 years ago
  2. The St. Lawrence is loaded with monster fish and holds many, many "world record" size fish, including Lake St. Francis, don't ever rule it out.
  3. Mine was a 52 that came outta Nippissing jimmer.
  4. Muskies are extremely slimy and big ones are very strong and holding them in the proper manner isn't always possible and sometime a "bear hug" just happens, specially when your alone, but if you hang on tight you should be able to win the struggle hahaha
  5. Here's the latest update. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/sudbury/forest-fire-august-2-1.4770390
  6. Yeah, best of luck for you & your place, lousy situation to be in and hopefully it all works out for you guys in the area. I guess if they shut down 69 the only alternative will be way over to 11 and cut thru North Bay ?
  7. I mentioned earlier that my daughter is heading up thru that area in 11 days and she's joining us on the West Arm of Nippissing which isn't too far from the fire area. Keeping fingers crossed that they get everything under control soon. Not concerned about the fire reaching that far but the heavy smoke can be miserable. I live in the Kawarthas and remember a few years back we had a very heavy smell of smoke here and it turns out it was coming from fires all the way over in Minnesota or Wisconsin.
  8. Here's a smoke advisory for the area. https://www.theweathernetwork.com/ca/alerts/high-alert/ontario/sturgeon-falls
  9. My daughter's getting a bit concerned as she's gonna be travelling up 69 right by the fire zone in about 12 days so hopefully they get it knocked down by then.
  10. I've been retired 18 years now (retired early) and often say I wish my days had 27 hours cause 24 just aren't enough LOL
  11. I had an 80# ... 60" Fortrex on my Skeeter and it's definitely a long shaft and for sure could be too much to store on a 16 footer. In the 5-6 years I had the boat I always had at least a foot of shaft sticking up and never had an issue working in rough water but for sure it's nice if needed. Biggest issue as Sinker pointed out is the room it takes up when not being used. My boat was nearly 19' and this pic will give you an idea.
  12. Congratulation Terry, retirement is a wonderful occupation. ?
  13. Looks like fun times Brian, good to hear from you, it's been a long time.
  14. I guess that price isn't all that bad when you factor in the total cost of the trip. We did PEI & Nova Scotia 2 years ago and the bridge across the Northumberland Strait is a nice trip and free, but on the way home they charge you $46 to cross the bridge to get off the island. LOL
  15. I forgot to ask earlier, but what's the charge for the ferry trip ?
  16. Thanks for the fantastic early morning read, it looks like you guys had an amazing trip. Like you I've also spent alot of time in the Maritimes and truly love the place but have never been to NFLD and it's always been on my "to do" list....hopefully some day.
  17. I highly doubt those G's are anywhere near what a fighter pilot endures, infact not even close.
  18. Unbelievable that people are stupid enough to be lighting fireworks while flames rage all around them. Be good to see the cops nail them.
  19. What was the response from by-law when you called them, did they come out ?
  20. Yeah, it can become somewhat confusing with all the locks on the system connecting different lakes and then having 2 lakes next door to each other both known as Buckhorn.
  21. Just an FYI but Stoney & Lovesick are 2 totally different lakes and Stoney is NOT aka as Lovesick.
  22. I always find it interesting around here how very interesting discussions can so easily get derailed into a totally unrelated discussion.
  23. I've had the 5.4 and the 3.5 EcoBoost Bill so I figured I'd give the 5.0 a try this time and so far am more than happy with it and your right about the mileage, it's not bad either.
  24. I'm driving a new 2018 F150 Lariat with the 5.0 motor and have averaged 11.9 L / 100K over the 2 months since I bought it.
  25. I saw a sign on hwy 28 in the Kawarthas yesterday indicating there's a fire ban in this area just incase your planing some fires on your trip. You may want to check into that further with the MNR though.
