  1. Good to see all the line bumps finally turned into the real thing Steve. Enjoy your dinner
  2. Thanks Dax, it looks like you had a fun season. We never did hook up this year, but we'll see if we can get it together next year
  3. Happy New Year to you and yours too TJ and thanks for another fun year around here
  4. Thanks Jack and Happy New Years and all the best to you & Mrs. Nanook too !!
  5. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who actually does get to fish as much as I want, and I spend an incredible amount of days on the water over the course of a musky season. I don't usually set goals, then I'm never disappointed if I don't reach them, but rather just hit the water every day and try to have a good time, and if the fish gods smile on me, well then, it was a good day. Two years ago I set a goal to help my daughter get her 1st musky, which she did, but setting that goal was an exception for me. I've been very fortunate in the fact that I've shared my boat with more than 50 different OFNers over the last few years on musky trips and have made alot of good friends around here, and every year I hope to add a few more to the list. Jamie, I guess the only real goal I've set for next year is to spend a couple days chasing those Ottawa River muskies with you like we've talked about so many times. I'll bring the Suicks and you supply the Dawgs and we'll see about getting that new boat of yours all slimed up
  6. Thanks Tom, that was a great read and congrats on a couple nice eyes !! I must be the only OFNer that's happy the winter hasn't found us down here yet
  7. From my family to your's, Happy New Year and all the best in 2007 !!
  8. WTG Phil, their a heck of alot bigger than any fish I caught this weekend
  9. Thanks Matt, are using the gold in the X-17 ??
  10. I've never fished for carp, or even caught one for that matter, but I've seen some real monsters floating dead in Quinte over the years and wouldn't doubt that water holds some really huge fish. Steve (Hamilton) caught a biggun in Stoney Lake a couple years back that was around 35 pounds if I remember correctly.
  11. Thanks guys, that's what I needed to know, and Blake, I'll talk to the reps when I get to the show. Roy, your right about that, you don't get much for your $$$$ anymore
  12. WTG guys and congrats on the PB's Can't ask for a better way to close out the season than that !!
  13. I stopped into JB's this morning and was told the Gold Plus chip is only for the color units and I'll need the Classic chip for the monochrome X-17 Strange thing though, he said the Classic is the same price as the Gold.....$275......it would seem to me the chip with less detail should be worth less money You remember that little island, do you David ??.....it still holds plenty of springtime pickeral even after all these years
  14. Thanks Mark, that's what I wanted to hear about Quinte and yes, I'm aware that it doesn't cover Nippissing.
  15. Mornin boyz, I'll be buying a Navionics chip for my new, and 1st, GPS unit in the next little while and have a couple questions for you. I understand from friends that the gold chip will serve my purposes quite nicely, but then someone mentioned a gold plus.......Is there a difference between the gold & gold plus ?? Does the gold cover Quinte ?? I know there's a Platinum coming out and does anyone have any idea how much it'll cost, and will it be worth the extra $$$$ to get it over the gold ??
  16. Thanks Phil, a couple real beauties there !!
  17. Retired fireman from Toronto, and now spend most of my free time trying to teach Eddyk how to actually catch a fish
  18. Sheeesh Chris, I can be at your house in 4 hours from the trailer, just gimme a date and I'll pick Jamie up on the way thru
  19. I've been going to the Spring Show since day 1 Steve and always enjoyed it, but last year was a real disappointment with what seemed like 1/2 the vendors not there anymore. I'll go again this year if they have one, but if it hasn't improved over last year, it'll be my last time. The Sportsman Show has gone waaaaaaay downhill the last few years too, so maybe they should scrap them both, and come up with one big decent show at a decent price and maybe they'll get the interest back from the public
  20. If you think your overspending now ub1990, go have a look at some musky gear, where a basic, everyday, run of the mill lure will cost you about $25 each, a "good" lure will be $100 and then the really nice ones go on up from there, with some baits costing $300-400 each or even more. Then there's the gear to go with it.......a good net is $150-$200, cutters for going thru 7/0 hooks about $60, store bought fluoro leaders about $10 each, and the list goes on. Now you have to buy a boat and trailer and GPS and sonar and truck to pull it and gasoline at 90¢/litre and insurance and boat ramp fees and Like fisherman says, buy what you can afford, when you can afford it, cause if you have to worry about the price, your not gonna have any fun while your using it. Get a few things at a time and go have some fun
  21. We actually got about 1/4" of snow overnight, just enough to make the rooftops and parts of the ground white. I think that's about the 1st snow we've had here in the Smoke this year .........OK enough of winter, now lets get back to the nice weather
  22. Beautiful job on the video Cory, and it looks like you and your family had a summer you'll remember for a looooong time
  23. You know me Roger, I don't mind helping out a friend when it's needed
  24. Those baits turned out really good Jim, but no self respecting musky would ever go after an orange/black lure, so if you mail it to me, I can dispose of it for you
