  1. I think we have to take everything with a grain of salt and think about it. 1. Zebra mussels - when they were first dicovered they were going to be the death of the lake. Not so cleaned itup and now there are more bait fish the Pro Brass fishing folks say it's the best, yes the best small mouth fishing in the country. 2. Gobies - I don't think there is enough evidence good or bad but there is talk that they are just another form of bit fish for the larger species. I live in Western New York and have been going to the lake since I was about 3 or 4, my wife's father purchase a cottage up in Port Colburn in the early 60's , he's in his late 80's and we talk about how the lake has changed and how there was alot of beach and now there isn't and then there is. Alarmist, mother nature will provide and what will be will be.
  2. I have the same type and have a 4 hp with the gas tank on the top. great for back woods stuff
  3. The charge is usually $1/ per lb. over
  4. We've been on 6 with Mark, one time they couldn't pick us up for 2 days so we learned that you can not bring enough food and libations. a bug bomb for the out house I always found made me feel a little better from the start. I always bring 4 set ups. Fire starter doesn't hurt, the wood laying around is always wet. It's easier to pay the extra money than not bring something. Fished alot of their lakes but not the one you are going to. We have started to go to western ontario and find for the money you get showers and indoor plumbing and you are just as far north and the fishing is great.
  5. that's what I pay in the states, if you buy in quanity then it should be around $30-40 a cord.
  6. fishing is OK there is a weed cut to another area where the perching is great. try to get cabin 17 private dock and away from everyone
  7. I haven't been there in a few (8) years but good perching through the weed crossing to the left of the camp. It's in the shallow end of the lake so be careful. Cabin 17 is the best away from everyone and it has it's own dock.
  8. Thanks for the ideas. We are only staying one night and just need a place to sleep.
  9. I am planning a stop in marathon for a little sleep. Any motels or hotels that anyone has info on close to or right on 17.
  10. I found some at Gander Mountain but the largest jig I could get was 3/4 oz. any other ideas
  11. I am in Buffalo, any ideas where I can pick some of these up?
  12. Thanks for the Wawa website, hey Tennesse Guy, you turned us into Sportmans Lodge the other year, when you go up where do you stop once you get into Canada?
  13. I'm not driving straight thru this year. Probably going to stop in Wawa or alittle past and drive thru to arrive in the Red Lake, Balmertown area at about 8 at night. I am looking for suggestions for both stops. i had some info on a place in Red Lake that was on the water for last year but lost that info.
  14. I set a check up to Kevin and have to ask for a confirmation and still haven't received a invoice for the remaining balance. Is this the SOP at this place? Every other place I've been to sends me confirmation and an invoice and all sorts of info. The place looks great but I just want to make sure of things.
  15. I've been before but need a refresher. What is the shortest, fastest route to the show from Buffalo?
