  1. Any of you folks heading into Toronto today, be aware that there is ALOT of flooding !! I just got back in from driving down to Bay & Wellesley and there is flooding everywhere, specially in the curb lanes where the water is up level with the sidewalks in many places........hit that stuff too fast and it'll throw you right off the road. Lots of power lines and tree limbs down too and the Fire Dept. is telling folks to stay indoors today because of all the lines down in the water and the possiblity of coming in contact with the live wire. My trucks in the driveway again and I'm staying here now till April Drive careful if you go out today kids !!
  2. Glen, 3 of the hurricanes I encountered were on the ocean and although they don't cause any damage out there, the sight of 60 - 70 foot waves crashing over your ship can be a little daunting, to say the least. Those tornadoes are a totally different story though, when they just drop outta the sky like that with absolutely no warning at all......terrifying stuff !!
  3. Still plenty of power here in East York, but there's a heavy coating of ice on everything and strong winds, so it may only be a matter of time before the branches come down and take the hydro lines with them. Just to add to the fun, it's raining pretty hard now too.
  4. Good to hear you made it thru the storm OK Glen !! I thought WE were getting clobbered bad up here yesterday till I put the news on and saw what was happening down your way. I've been thru 4 hurricanes, but have never seen a tornado, and hope to keep it that way. Keep your head up Bud.
  5. The TV reports the GTA hiways are like a parking lot and my daughter has about 45 KM to go across the 401 and the Parkway.....she just called to say she booked a hotel room just up the road from her work and will be spending the night there. Makes a dad feel much better
  6. Guaranteed your gonna luv the Lakair trip Cliff, thats my 2nd favorite of the year
  7. We only fish for pickeral for a couple weeks in May while were waiting for musky season to open, but it's not so much what we catch, but more, who you catch them with. Always the best trip of the year for me....Quinte in May with the boyz Won't be to much longer now !!
  8. OK Wayne, thanks, I've got it figured out now, it's a totally different perspective from the air. We had a few good years up there when we were kids. I actually took my bike up there a few years ago and toured the whole area. Started in Penetang and went up the west shore to where the cross is, then back to town and up the east shore to the hospital. Lots of changes, but plenty of good memories too.
  9. Our cottage was actually right on the north shore of the bay Wayne, sorta kitty-corner from the prison. There's a big white wooden cross on the shore, supposedly marking the spot where the indians killed some Jesuit priests back in the day.......we were about 500' west of the cross. Be great to see an aerial picture if you have one.
  10. It's moving fast fishergirl, so it should be on your doorstep any minute now.
  11. It's coming down real heavy in East York now and I was just outside and heard thunder booming too. We went from nothing to heavy snow in about 15 minutes. Freezing rain is sposed to hit about 6:00 Gonna be a nasty night folks, so be real careful if your out driving anywhere.
  12. Maximum security prison
  13. Pollocks was a great store and it was too bad they left, but they sure had some excellent deals just before they closed the doors for the last time. I bought up a bunch of $25 musky baits for $5 each and all his remaining Stringeze leaders for $1 each. He was also clearing out the DownEast rod holders for $5 each but when I called to get him to hold a couple for me, he said it was 1st come-1st serve, and I missed out by an hour
  14. I saw that too and was amazed that all those rail cars could jump the tracks and overturn, yet none of the 4 crew members were even hurt.
  15. Didn't they change the system a couple years back, where you now call one central number to book for all the campsites in the province ?? I remember reading about how backed up the system was trying to keep up with all the requests.
  16. If it was me PF, I'd be bunking in right where you are for tonight. The snow is sposed to hit the GTA around noon and then freezing rain starting this evening. No sense travelling thru that crap if you don't need to.....stay safe.
  17. Hey Joe, Happy B-Day my friend, and all the best to ya ! Good to see I'm not the only one gettin older !!
  18. Great way to end out the season Sam and nuthin wrong with pulling the kids outta school for a day either, there's more to be learned, other than reading, writing and rithmetic. Good to see everybody returning those bigguns back to the water too, that'll help guarantee the Quinte fishery remains excellent for your kids and then their kids after. Hope to see you on Hay Bay on the May 24 weekend Sam
