  1. I only fish for pickeral a couple times in May each year and we'll sometimes keep a few for a fry one night at Quinte, but we haven't even done that the last couple years. I do luv a fry of pickeral though.
  2. I use the Abu Big Game 7000 (gold) which is a similar set-up, and yes, their an excellent reel. My main purpose for it is for jerk baits, and with the large spool, it takes up slack very fast, with little effort. You'll be more than happy with it.
  3. And most of those 500 posts have been very helpful Sam, your a great asset to this board !!
  4. Just heard that Toronto had the coldest February in the last 28 years
  5. I can tell you one thing, that warming trend hasn't quite started yet. I was outside for awhile this morning and just got in and it's definetly still winter..... ........-31 windchill......brrrrrrrr......don't forget yer woolies
  6. Smart move not trying to head home Mo, I saw that accident on the news and it looked real nasty and will probably take half the night to clear. My daughter stayed in a hotel last Thursday during the storm rather than face all the headaches on the hiway....sometimes it's just not worth the chance.
  7. It's been about 10 years since my wife fished with me, but for alot of years prior to that she was a very avid fisherman and had no qualms about heading out at 4:00 in the morning or 9:00 at night Heck, she even landed a 14 pound musky off the end of the dock all by herself at 6:00 AM one morning while she was trying to catch a pickeral for breakfast while I was out in the boat getting skunked.......she still rubs that one in every chance she gets
  8. Whatever the size, that thing sure looks like a brute !! Thanks GBay
  9. Looks like plenty of mild sunny days coming Cliff, lets hope the forecast holds true.
  10. Chasing Capt. Hooked into the West Arm sunrise
  11. I agree Fisherman, I never buy low end of anything.
  12. ahhhh yes, soft water and green trees, thanks Terry !!
  13. Nope, you've got 3 more years left. One more year the way you are, then reverse it and go for 2 more years. Now you've got lotsa $$$$ in your pocket for more baits
  14. PP lasts a long time and you'll get at least a couple years out of it, then remove it all and reverse it, and you'll then get another couple years. Nothing like mono.
  15. How was the drive up on Thursday Tony, did you stay ahead of the storm ??
  16. Thanks boyz !!
  17. You got that right Jim, the only traffic jam I ever see is on the morning news on TV
  18. Thanks Paul, I'm gonna buy the entire kit for each side, probably cheaper that way. My trailer is up north and about 20 miles from the store, so I'll need to know the size before I head up.
  19. If any of you folks are just leaving home and plan on going across the Gardner, it was just reported that it's closed both ways between Yonge & Spadina because of large sheets of ice blowing down from the CN Tower This'll be another traffic nightmare
  20. Years back we used to pitch our tents on the riverbank right beside Deacons Bridge. Lotsa good times and memories there
  21. I'm gonna replace the wheel bearings and seals on my boat trailer this spring. I have bearing buddies and their classed as 1.98" in diameter. Will the wheel bearings also be marked as 1.98" or are they sized differently ??
  22. According to this mornings news, it sounds like winter is gonna take another shot at us, even though it's nearly springtime. Sposed to get winds up to 90 Km today and windchill of -35 tonight dang........
  23. Absolutely, I've never seen a knot in braid slip while using the Palomar.
  24. Thanks Dan, they turned out nice. We finally got to see the moon thru some light cloud cover around 8:00 last night, but of course it was far too late.
  25. I guess it comes down to how much you mind fishing in dirty weather. I don't have a stand-up cover on my boat either, and 99 % of the time I wouldn't want one, but I do have a good Gore-Tex rain suit and don't normally worry about how much it rains, but must admit I've been jealous a few times on cold snowy days when I see someone cruising by all covered up & dry, and I've got icycles hanging off my mustache. The covers are a pain if your casting, but can be awesome when your trolling in nasty weather. I normally fish with Squid in the cold months of November & December and some days his covered boat is worth a million bucks
