Family Fishing Fun in the Bay of Quinte(New Pics Added)
lew replied to Mike the Pike's topic in General Discussion
Mike, it sounds like you had an excellent weekend with family & friends. Good to hear everything worked out OK for you with the trouble last week on the roads and railways, it seemed kinda doubtful for you for a little while. -
Shelly, it's always good spending time with you guys and especially nice having someone to share a coffee with before the sun comes up. Kea's darned near as cute as Marvin and is welcome to my extra pork chops anytime. Don't worry about the dog bites on my hand though, I've reconsidered the lawsuit I'll see the 3 of youz next year !!

WOW !!!!!! Congrats on that monster catch Shawn, she's a real beaut !!!!
-
Thanks Brian, I'll watch for that icon if it happens again. I was just afraid I had a problem with the GPS unit itself.
-
Thanks boyz, much appreciated !! As long as that's a relatively normal occurance I won't be concerned with it. I'll check those update Mike. Jeeeez, fish'n was so much simpler before electronics

Sheri's the one that was really disappointed, cause I was just about to pass the fish'n pole to her when the big girl said "see ya later" Oh well, we'll get her next time......

I was fishing Stoney Lake on Sunday and a couple times part of the map on my GPS screen would go blank, not the entire map, just part of it, yet I could still see my track from a previous troll pattern on the blank section. If I zoomed in it would all come back and then be normal again. A couple times the blank section was perfectly horizontal on the screen, while another 2 times the blank section ran diagonally. The 1st time it happened as I was making a tight turn and I figured it just lost the signal momentarily, but then the other times I was going in a straight line when it happened. The map would re-appear gradually as my cursor moved along towards the blank section, but wouldn't come back fully without zooming in. My antenae is on the gunnel towards the front of the boat and has a clear view of the sky, and I'm using a Lowrance GlobalMap 7200 with a Navionics Gold+ XL-9 The same thing happened to me once before on a different lake as I was making a sharp turn but re-appeared shortly afterwards. Is this normal with a GPS or is there a problem ??

Mornin Moe, and your right, it's been awhile since the early morning club had a meeting. They used to be alot of fun, but would you believe I actually received a PM from one of our long standing members one day telling me that I only instigated the "Good Morning" threads to pad my post count ?? That's what some folks do when they don't have much of a life I spose. What a moron.....

My daughter & I went lookin for muskies on Stoney Lake yesterday and I was trolling a 13" Believer in 25 FOW @ 5 MPH and I saw a hump coming up to 7' on the GPS screen, so I told Sheri to get ready cause muskies luv to hang out around humps, and I no sooner said it and WHAM....the big girl hit right on cue !!!!! I grabbed the rod outta the holder, turned to the back of the boat and a big fat 50"er comes flying outta the water 30' behind the boat, does a tail walk and spits the bait right back at me........DANG Doncha just hate when that happens .......

I had a Carrier installed in my home 2 years ago Tony and have been extremely happy with it so far. The installers were on time and very efficient and fast in removing the old unit and putting in the new one. It's quiet and works beautifully and I have no complaints or regrets whatsoever with the unit. Don't know if that helps you much, but it's just my experience with Carrier sofar.

Mike, the morning news reports that the 401 is closed between Belleville & Napanee and hwy 2 is closed at Deseronto and their suggesting everyone use hwy 7 but it'll be so congested with all the traffic it'll probably be basically shut down too. They've also shut down all rail traffic between Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. If it was up to me, they'd all be thrown in jail immediately, but unfortunately our wimp government will stand back as always and watch these people disrupt the lives and livelihoods of tens of thousands of people and do absolutely nothing about it. I parked 5 minutes too long on a sidestreet last month and received a $30 fine......different rules for different folks in this country......so sad.....

Great news Dan, congrats to everyone & all the best to the little guy !!

We had the exact same thing happen to us in Quebec a few years back. One of our group caught 3 pickeral in the afternoon, filleted them and put them in the cooler (without skin) in anticipation of a planned fish fry that night. We went back out in the evening to catch a few more and when we returned to the dock after dark with the rest of our catch for supper, the CO's were waiting on the dock for us. They searched our boats and trucks, then practically tore our camp apart including looking inside our sleeping bags for anything illegal even after we'd already informed them from the start that we had 3 filleted fish in the cooler. All the time the one goon was ripping our camp apart, his cohort was standing back with his hand on his gun and his finger on the trigger. We were informed that they were sick & tired of people from Ontario coming into Quebec to rape their resourses and were fined $250 for our 3 lousy fish. We were told to come to court in January if we wanted to fight the charges but we decided it wasn't worth the trip from Toronto to Temiskeming in the middle of winter for $250, but we also decided that none of us would ever step inside Quebec again either. Sometimes CO's just need to use a small amount of discretion.......

Sad news Cliff, and my condolances to everyone who loved him. That was indeed a very nice tribute to Herb.

Good to hear you enjoyed the trip Will That's a beautiful picture, do you mind if I borrow it for my background....please ??
-
Somehow I don't think that statement came out the way you meant it Dustin, but I imagine we all know what you mean
-
Dustin, that's a fabulous picture of your little guy looking at the bass, and you can just imagine the thoughts going thru his young mind !! That shot is definetely worth framing and hanging on the wall !!
-
Awesome stuff Johnny B, I always look forward to your fishing reports and this one was as good as ever. Congrats on such a successful day
-
Congrats Glen, she's a real beaut , and I didn't realize how chunky she was from the picture in the back of the camera at the cottage. A long trip up to Lakair for you, but certainly worth it for a PB pickeral. Now you just need to come back up next year and catch her momma !!
-
Thanks Roy, they turned out great !! I've been waiting for someone to post a pic of the group shot for my album.
-
Thanks fd, that's a beautiful bunch of pictures !!

WTG Julie, a 27 pound salmon is an impressive fish in anybodies books and you've got my biggest ever salmon beat by about 12 pounds Congrats on the O.F.H.A. award !!!!
