  1. Brian, I thought you were fishing a tourney on Chemong or the tri-lakes this weekend after your questions about it last week. I passed the ramp Saturday morning and it was empty, so then I thought maybe you launched somewheres else and I checked out every red bass boat I saw on Upper Buck & Pigeon. If I hadn't been so busy lookin for you all day I may have caught more fish myself
  2. Sorry for your lousy luck Glen, but it's good to know I'm not the only one that does foolish stuff around here Don't put too much faith in that circuit breaker though, I have a similar one on my troll motor too, but it didn't do diddly to stop my motor from frying. I take Misfish's advice now and unplug my motor when I'm done for the day. I didn't go as far as tossing mine on the compost heap though, I've got it sitting in the basement to remind myself to not do stoooopid stuff in the future
  3. I haven't been fishing much this year, but have been going out the odd time, so my daughter & I decided to head to Pigeon on Saturday for the 1st time this year to see if there were any muskies hanging around my favorite spots. We launched the boat about 8:00 and headed to the 1st spot and were only casting about 10 minutes when I got this little guy. We fished that spot for awhile then headed further north to another place I like and again got a fish within about 10 minutes. We get quite a few muskies every year with lymphosarcoma and if you look on the sides of this fish you can see 2 scars that appear to have been lympho, but have healed over quite nicely. That's always a good sign. We fished till around 2:00 and by then the wind was starting to get pretty strong and the waves on the big lake were making casting pretty difficult, so we trolled for awhile but never saw another fish so we called it a day and headed in. I've been reading all the reports lately on the carp die-off in the Kawarthas but must admit I was really surprised at how many dead carp I saw on Pigeon Lake. I'd guess that in 6 hours I saw at least 100 of them. Odd thing too was the fact that it seemed like it was only very large fish that were dead and I don't think I saw any under about 10 pounds. I spend an awful lot of time fishing the Kawarthas every year but don't recall ever seeing as much poor quality weed as this year, plus the amount of it compared to other years. Some of the my normal spots that I fish all the time are nearly choked off with weeds right up to the surface, where normally at this time of year their 4 & 5 feet below the surface. Alot of the weeds are also brown and appear nearly dead, where normally their a very vivid green color until into the later months. I wonder if there's any corrilation between all the poor quality weeds this year and the dead carp floating everywhere ??
  4. WTG Brian, that's excellent !!!! 31st place outta 74 is pretty darned impressive
  5. Thanks for the heads-up Dan, I've had a DSC-P72 for about 3 years now with no problems, but I'll have a look into that recall.
  6. G'mornin folks Unfortunately Mo, it's gonna be another 4:00 start but it'll be the last one for awhile. Hope everyone has a great weekend.
  7. Rich Clemens had a dead one stuck in his truck grill when he arrived at Lakair last month. As jediangler says though, their actually a very useful critter to have around, specially when their on the OUTSIDE of the house
  8. You can also catch a bunch of fish in an old beat up 12' tinny too, but why not buy a nice new, hi end boat if your able to do so ?? J/K
  9. I can't comment on the smaller sized St. Croix's, but most of my musky rods are either Premiers or Avid and their excellent , so I would imagine the entire line is of equal quality. Never owned a Loomis, but have never heard a bad thing about them either. I think you'll be happy with whichever brand you go with.
  10. That was a fun day on Chemong last year. Whopper & I hooked up to get him his 1st ever musky, which he did get, plus a nice largemouth I got no muskies that day but managed that nice largie. Hope we can do it again the next time your up this way Phil. Sorry for the hijack Brian
  11. It's a pretty nice lake that holds most of the regular species Brian, long & narrow but not alot of structure, although there are a few channels that drop to over 20' and there are several islands with some nice rocky points. The south end of the lake towards Fowlers Corners is very shallow & weedy and will hold exactly what your looking for The top 1/2 is mostly a flat but has lots of nice cabbage. It's a pretty safe lake to navigate around on and you can access the rest of the Tri's thru Harrington Narrows. I haven't fished it this year yet but I'm hearing some nasty rumors that the weeds are really taking over this year and making alot of the regular spots in-accessible. There's an excellent free ramp with plenty of parking on the west side of the causeway, just across the lake from Bridgenorth, and at the east end of the causeway is Bridgenorth Tackle that carries a pretty decent selection of gear. And as Whopper says, it does indeed hold some nice incidental bass
  12. Mornin folks Sure wish y'all would stop talkin about work, your makin me feel guilty..... ......well........ maybe not
  13. Every May I eat one small pickeral fried in butter.......just beautiful !!!! Lookin forward to next May
  14. Beautiful lookin boat you've got there Fishmaster, specially the wheelhouse with all that wood, plus the spoked helm ....... that's the way boats are sposed to look Oh ya, nice fish too !!
  15. Nope, I'm home this week Norm but I'll be up there for the weekend. Sheri & I will be fishing your neck of the woods on Saturday, will the Tin be on the water ??
  16. Good to see the drought has ended for you Norm !! I see alot of folks fishing for carp down that way so it must be a purdy good area.
  17. Beautiful musky Arron, that black / orange combo works wherever they swim Thanks for the great read & pictures !!
  18. Not the best news Brian, nor what you were wanting to hear, but if it helps you at all, one of my oldest and closest friends had the same operation about 15 years and ago and is now healthy and living life to the fullest. Best of luck to your aunt, Bud.
  19. Really good to hear your trip to Lost Lake went so well !! It's been 10 years now since I was there but it sounds as if things just keep getting better every year. The folks that run that outfit sure know how to treat their guests. Tough luck with the bad weather but it looks as if you guys made the most of it and still put a few decent fish in the boat. Thanks for taking the time to give us a report on your trip.
  20. Congrats Pat, that was a real beautiful fish !! Pete actually sent me that picture awhile ago.
  21. HAHAHAHAHA
  22. Mornin lads, I was here a few hours ago but then had places to go...things to do. Me & Ole Marv just got back from a hike in the woods and it sure is nice to have some cooler temps for a change, the air conditioner is off and all the doors and windows are wide open.........ahhhhh, soooooooooo much fresher
  23. Great story and congrats on getting that musky again Jigger. C&R definetely works, I once got the same musky 3 times in a season...some obvious marks...and another time I got one twice in a weekend. You'd think they'd learn after awhile
  24. Joey, your definetely not getting enough oxygen to the flame and that's why it's burning orange rather than blue. You probably just don't have the new burner positioned correctly, take it out and re-position it again and you should be cookin in no time. Some times they can be a bit tricky to get in properly.
  25. I heard on the radio an hour ago that there's tornado watches out for the area between Barrie & the Kawarthas, including Peterboro. Keep your heads up folks
