Jack was the type of guy that you instantly liked the 1st time you met him and it's sad to hear of his passing and he'll definetely be missed by many. Deepest condolances to Jacks family.

Thanks for all the thoughts and info guys, but after reading the MNR link supplied by Cliff I've decided against feeding the deer. There's alot of deer around here, infact when I wander thru the bush behind me there's hardly a square yard of snow that doesn't have hoof prints in it. My thoughts, and the reason for this post, were to find a good healthy food for them just to help them thru the tough months, the same way we put out bird feeders, but if the MNR are advising against it, that's all I need to hear.

Sorry Roy, we were posting at the same time. Any idea why it would bloat the deer when the farmers say it works well for their critters ??
-
Thanks guys, that's what I was hoping to hear !! Anything else you can think of, relatively inexpensive, that I could also put out for them ?? I'm not a hunter and really enjoy watching them and sharing my place with them and if I can help them out anyway thru the long cold winters, it'll be my pleasure.

Hey guys, I have lots of deer on my property every morning and evening, infact upwards of 20 some days, and I'm gonna start putting feed out for them. A local farmer has bales of hay mixed with alphalpha that he feeds to his cows and horses that I can get very cheap, but I don't know if deer would eat it or not, but I'm assuming they would. My neighbor puts out grain everyday and they really like that stuff but I just wanted to offer something different. I'm gonna pick up 1 bale on Tuesday to try it out and if they like it I'll get more, but I was just wondering if anybody here knew for sure if they'd eat it ?? The last couple mornings there's been a big buck standing just 100' from the house watching his harem feed but sofar there hasn't been enough daylight to get a decent picture of him but I'm sure the day will come...hopefully.

About a month ago my wife noticed that a diamond was missing from her wedding ring and that gave me an idea. I've been married to the worlds most wonderful lady for going on 45 years, a person who never asks for anything, and I decided that after all these years she deserved, and would probably love, a nice new set of wedding rings. I headed into the jewellers in town and picked out a gorgeous set of gold and diamond wedding rings and had them sized to fit. I wrapped the jewellery box in nice paper, then put that in a bigger box and wrapped that one and then placed it in an even bigger box with fancy wrapping and placed it under the tree with a tag saying to "open me last" I lit a nice fire in the living room fireplace last night, turned on some Christmas carols and we then opened all our presents and when we were all done, I told her to open the BIG box. She pulled off the paper and opened the box to find the next one which she opened to find still one more. By now she was starting to look a bit puzzled and went on to open the 3rd one. When she finally opened the small box and saw all that sparkle, a look came over her face that I've never seen before and when she started to cry I knew I'd bought her something really special. And that's what Christmas is all about....making somebody you love VERY happy.

Ahhh yes Bruce, always one of my favorites. Every year my wife makes trifle and it's always my favorite part of Christmas dinner. There's a big one for dinner tonight, a smaller one for tomorrow and a 3rd for our guests to take home tonight after dinner.

Thanks for the update Cliff, that's great news.

And a Merry Christmas to you & yours too TJ. All the best in the New Year.

Any one else going to start their Christmas shopping today?
lew replied to Grimace's topic in General Discussion
You'll be fine, everybody else is finished their shopping already so you should have the mall all to yourself today -
There's a fair bit of weight to a glass boat and I'm not so sure those smaller vehicles have the braking power to stop it in a hurry if needed. I tow a 19' glass and don't think I'd trust those small brakes to do the job. Just my thoughts anyways and I could very well be wrong.

We actually just got in from the restaurant 30 minutes ago where I feasted on a nice New York Strip with roasted taters and it was excellent. When we do them on the barbie here at home I like a T-Bone smothered in fried onions & mushrooms. Dang, now I'm hungry all over again

True story Mike, 64 years old and I've never had a headache, yet the ironic part is my daughter suffers from frequent migrains.

That's hilarious Fred & I'll be sure to mention the harness to your wife next time I see her

I'm the same as Raf, I've never had a flu shot in my life, I never get the flu, and can't remember that last time I even had a simple cold, infact I've honestly never even had a headache. I wake up every morning feeling like a million bucks and whatever I'm doin right, I hope to just keep on doin it. I'm a lucky guy and I knock on wood everytime I tell someone about my good fortune.

Happy B-Day friend, hope you have a goodun !!

I never thought anyone would actually take offense with that ad and as has been mentioned already, it's been around for a long time. I've even used that picture on this board several times over the years when we've been joking about musky baits and one of our members even used it as his avatar picture for quite awhile. It's just a bit of humor, nuthin more.
