  1. Welcome home Joey and the pictures turned out excellent. Always nice to see you guys and really good to hear your arm is healing up OK, that was just plain nasty. We stopped by your camp Tuesday morning to say good-bye but didn't see any signs of life so just kept on going. Did you happen to see the moose that was hanging around the hiway just 1000' north of the camp on Tuesday ?? When we passed by she was only 50' off the side of the road, and of course my camera was in the boat.
  2. Thanks fellas, the more I look at these brutes and how big they are, burying them under a load of soil may be the most feasible option. I may still give the hammer a try this week but I'm starting to have my doubts now.
  3. Thanks Dann, I'll let you know Shorty, here's a couple pics for Guy The 1st one has a 5 gallon gas can beside it for comparison And here's the rest, the smallest is about twice the size of the proverbial bread box
  4. All my kitchen counters are granite but I'm not sure about my boulders The biggest one at least looks like it could be granite though. I thought about a large spud Albert but I'm thinking the big guy is gonna go at least a few hundred pounds and I'm certainly not as young as I once was. Thanks for the offer Dann and I may just take you up on it but it won't be this weekend. Be a good excuse for you & Kelly to come here anyways though.
  5. That's actually pretty funny Roger cause I usually get 30 or 40 fish a year with my strawberry but have never got even as much as a sniff with my yellow & brown. Wanna trade before my strawberry is completely wore out and I can't find a replacement ??
  6. I've got some huge boulders at the back of my property that I want to move but their far too heavy to roll or move by hand and I don't want to use my truck as it'll dig up the lawn. I also can't use a come along as there aren't any trees big enuff near-by. I was thinking of renting an electric jack hammer to break them up into managable sizes but don't know if they'll do the job or not. About the only thing I've ever seen them used for was breaking up concrete. These rocks are laying around an old firepit that I don't use and are up to 30" X 30" X 15" Anybody ever tried to bust up something this big with an electric jack hammer ??
  7. I fish with Sledges alot Paul, do very well with them and have several different colors, but none of them produce like the strawberry. Don't know why but that color just seems to attract them. It's also a popular color for tolling for muskies on the Niagara too.
  8. Thanks Rich, the pictures turned out great.
  9. Wish I could help you Mike, but if Brian & Stacey no longer have them you could try BPS . They don't carry much of a selection of musky stuff but they do carry Sledges but I don't know about the strawberry. There's a small tackle shop near P'Boro that may carry them and I'll be heading down that way in the next week or so and if they have it I'll grab one and send it to you.
  10. I'd say Raf is the big winner in this post
  11. Your absolutely right Mike, the strawberry Sledge along with a black/yellow Double D are 2 of my most consistant producers every year, and not just in the K-Lakes either.
  12. It's OK Rich, everybody makes mistakes now & then
  13. Your starting off well with that 400TE, it's a great reel. Spool it up with some heavy braided line at least 65#, a good fluro leader and some quality snaps and your all set. Large black spinnerbaits with orange blades worked thru the cabbage are one of my go-to lures but alot of other colors work well too. A couple larger sized bucktails run over top of the weeds will also put some fish in your boat. If your gonna target muskies, be sure to use a large net with rubber coated mesh to protect the fish and have a quality bolt cutter and LONG needle nosed pliers. Their a nasty fish in the net so be VERY careful when your removing or cutting the hooks. Keep your hooks sharp and have fun on your vacation.
  14. Been waiting to see the full sized pictures Rich, the ones on your camera didn't do it justice. Very nice fish for sure and congrats on both your 1st West Arm musky and also your biggest to date. Good seeing you guys again as always and we'll see you up there next year.
  15. Wife and I bought a brand new soft top trailer from K-Mart in Scarboro about 40 years ago for $500. We pulled that little cottage on wheels all over Southern Ontario for 5 years then sold it for exactly what we payed for it...$500 Nothing fancy but we still talk about all the fun we had with it and the many places we visited. Thanks for jogging the memories & hopefully you'll enjoy yours as much as we did ours !!
  16. I've also had excellent service when I stopped into their office to get a unit updated but I was under the impression they've left the Matheson location for good. I've got a couple sonar units that need updating and my daughter works just up the road from them, I'm wondering now if maybe she could get it done for me if their still there
  17. Well done Darren, very nice fish !!
  18. Yeah, that's another story too Roy
  19. For cranking batteries, be sure to shut off your boats master switch at the end of the day, cause if you don't, BOTH sonar units AND the GPS unit will continue running all night, and when you head down to the boat in the morning to go fishing again, your battery will be deader than dead....just like mine was at Lakair last Sunday
  20. Absolutely NO problems here Dann and the reason I said right up front that your treats were given with my permission. Marvin eats those anyways, infact we bought him a bag of them yesterday. We're just putting Marvins illness down to bad luck with either too much sun or possibly injesting too much pollen in the water that all the dogs were all drinking. Sure hope you and Kelly re-consider nexy years g2g though Dann, as you guys always add alot to the week.
  21. Thanks for the Lancaster video Peter, I always thought that was a very impressive plane and used to see it flying over Toronto for the Ex. I saw a TV show one time about ww2 planes and they rated the P-51 as one of the most important planes of the war as it was the 1st fighter escort that was able to take the bombers deep into Germany & back again. Before the Mustang, no escort could fly that far.
  22. For musky trolling I like 600 series Tekotas with line counters and 7'6" heavy Compres spooled with 100# Power Pro & 130# Seaguar fluoro leaders. It's a bit more $$$$ than Mikes talking about but it's a set-up that I like.
  23. We're the same Chris and Marvin gets all his shots every year, although I can't honetly say if he got the one that Jewelbee is talking about. It could have been darned near anything that caused a few of the pooches to get sick. I know they all drank gallons of the lake water and they definetely took in alot of the pollen that was floating on the surface, but who knows ?? Just happy to know their all feeling better now !!
  24. Good to hear the officer is gonna be OK !!
  25. Just to clarify my original post, we left Marvin in the cottage while we went up for the feast, and he didn't go back up after dinner, so whatever came over him definetely DIDN'T have anything to do with the food we all ate.
