  1. Our bedroom is at the far end of the house and has a ceiling fan. When I put the central air on, I also put the ceiling fan in reverse on medium speed and it pulls the cool air up higher and seems to spread it out more evenly thru the house.
  2. I seldom use the air conditioner but I turned it on this morning and right now it's a comfortable 72F here in the house....and I think I'll stay right here too !!
  3. I found this guy for ya Joe, 'cept he's on the west end of Peterboro. 2 x 6 x 18' cedar for $1.65/foot...ask for Brad http://www.monaghanlumber.com/contact-us
  4. Lemme know when
  5. It doesn't take any special skills to use and isn't really any harder to use than a spinning reel, although some folks make it sound like rocket science. Just think of it as another tool in the box. Simply learn how the adjustments work, start off slow and practise will make you a pro before you know it.
  6. Any thoughts to the composite boards Joe ?? Kinda spendy but will last forever, come in different colours and may be available in the 18'ers your looking for.
  7. Atta boy Mike, that 52"er is a goodun !! Sometimes that window just opens and makes for a great day.
  8. I agree 100%, if your gonna buy a baitcaster get a good one to start with or you'll have nothing but problems and will end up spending more for a good reel anyhow. Nothing worse than trying to learn something new with inferior gear.
  9. I think I've mentioned it to you before Cliff, but I'm using a Rogers Rocket Hub over here , it's very fast and I'm happy with it. It works off the local cell tower & and so far no problems with it. It runs both my computer & phones for $50 per month if I remember correctly.
  10. A huge fish & some great bird pics. Fun times guys !!
  11. Darned Citi-type folks always causing trouble, imagine the nerve of them actually wanting to go fishing just like regular people.
  12. Plastic holders are OK if your pulling small baits but if your baits are large with alot drag you want something strong like the metal DownEasters. This one is clamped to the side rail of my boat but you can also get them that clamp right onto your gunnels.
  13. After a lifetime of pulling trailers I've never had a bad experience...touch wood...but as someone else mentioned, preventitive maintanence goes a long ways. Look after your trailer... (and truck)... and it'll look after you. One thing I always do is hook up the trailer and do the walk around myself, that way I know it's done right, but one time I let someone else do it and it nearly cost me an accident. I had some work done on my boat and when I went to get it I backed up to the trailer and while I was doing something in the truck the other guy hooked up the trailer & lights. I left and was driving down a country road and when I put the brakes on for a stop sign, the trailer jumped off the ball cause the other guy hadn't locked the hitch down properly. ALWAYS do it yourself and be sure. And for what it's worth, I just upgraded from a single axle trailer to a tandem and it makes all the difference in the world when hauling the boat down the highway.
  14. That's some really positive news there Wayne and very nice to hear. As a father I can feel what you guys are going through and I wish Jen all the best luck in the world and it sounds like she's got an excellent team of doctors & nurses looking after her. I'll be watching this post for the next update.
  15. I had a friend with the coastguard auxillary who did the safety check on my boat and when it passed he gave me a windshield sticker showing everything was good and met the safety requirements. Awhile later I was stopped by the OPP and I told him he didn't need to check me as I already passed the CCG test and showed him the sticker. He said the sticker made no difference to him cause just because everything was good & legal at one point didn't mean I was legal now because I may no longer have all the gear required by law. I was stopped a couple more times over the season and basically was told by each cop that the sticker meant nothing to them. Try to do the right thing and we still get hassled.
  16. Quite possibly the most enjoyable fish'n tale I've ever read around here You & the Mrs. sure do live the good life my friend !!
  17. It's really sad what's happening on our waterways. Whatever happened to common sense & courtesy ??
  18. Nice start to your season Steve, even though your season was a little late starting
  19. To catch a new PB is always nice, but to do it twice in 15 minutes is outstanding !! Well done on a couple beautiful fish, specially the biggun !!
  20. Lots of VERY fast depth changes in St. Francis. You can be 10' outside the main shipping channels in places and practically step out of your boat and not get your knees wet. That's why you ALWAYS need to check the depth charts, or study your GPS before you venture out on new lakes.
  21. You got that right Bob and our mission in Afghanistan is now over and thankfully our troops are coming home, starting this week. Sadly though, 157 aren't.

    Simcoe laker.

Probably 50 years since I fished for Simcoe lakers but I know for a fact we never saw anything even close to that brute. Awesome fish !!
  23. Nothing better than sharing fun times with the family Brian
  24. Thanks for the explanation Jeff and had I known about the Portraits of Honour tour in P'Boro yesterday I'd have certainly been there too.
  25. Maybe that's why he was circling Brian, outta gas and looking for a place to land
