I dunno Norm, but I couldn't get this to open in the email you sent me and I can't get this one to open either Very strange indeed.

I believe that should be AN honest effort BB Just sayin

Hey Cliff, I hope in December your gonna post the Christmas arrangement you did a couple years ago, that was absolutely amazing !!

Every Friday night my wife and I drive into Peterboro for supper and always try to hit a different place each week. Last night we went to Montanas, and as always it was a fun night. I also have to go into town whenever I need stuff that's not available locally. Never yet been mugged, accosted, bothered, robbed, beaten, had my truck broken into or otherwise had our night ruined. I've been in alot of cities on both sides of the Atlantic from Trinidad to Scandanavia and would put the saftey of Peterboro right up there with the best of them. EVERY city in the world has bad areas and if you go there, you could find trouble, and if you avoid them, you'll probably have a good time. Some of our closest friends have lived in Peterboro their entire lives and NONE of them have ever had a problem.

Beautiful fish Mike, big incidentals are always a bonus !!

Fantastic fishing trip and even better pictures !! Thanks for taking us along.

That's the way I used to get rid of all the pennies cluttering up the house every year. A bucket full is worth nothing and it's too much aggrevation to roll them for the few $$$$ you get back. Dump a hand full in every bag, I got rid of the junk and the kids thought they hit the jackpot Trouble is now though, there's no kids around here and the penny pails are starting to fill up again

Plenty of good folks on this board Skipper and you'll be able to get just about any info you need. We usually have a few different get togethers every year with the guys too and their always lotsa fun. Not meaning to get off topic here, but I was sure I saw this post locked up early yesterday morning, or had I just drank too many coffee's ??

Thanks Hooked, this really is a nice part of Ontario. I'm a couple towns north of Peterboro but get in there every week or 2 and have always enjoyed the place and never had a problem. Maybe I just hang out in better places than some of the other posters. Doesn't really matter what city you go to, your gonna find good and bad sections everywhere, but the good parts of P'Boro far outshine the bad. You'll find most of the big name stores there, plenty of nice restaurants and the houses prices are decent, specially compared to the GTA and there's lots of very nice neighborhoods. As mentioned previously, good jobs are on the rare side but it may be worth your while to do a bit of commuting if necessary. Best part, is 10 minutes outta town and your in the country and surrounded by lakes and farms and no hassles. I'd definetely recommend the area.

It's round, has 2 bearings, and spins real nice!

I've never tried that style of fishing, but I must admit, that is one snazzy looking fish'n reel !! -
When I'm fishing I prefer not to be near anyone else. I usually won't stop within 1000 feet of another boat and like to be treated the same, but obviously that doesn't usually happen in my favor. Buddy and I were out a few years ago on a nice quiet Sunday evening drifting with the current along a line of pencil reeds. Along comes a big fancy bass boat with a couple guys dressed in their finest sponsor shirts and actually stopped no more than 20' down stream of us. I said scuse me, but you just parked your boat exactly where we were casting, and he casually told me that I didn't own the spot. Not a problem though, I just used my troll motor and squeezed between him and the reeds and stopped my boat 10' downstream from HIM. So close infact, I could feel the glare from his eyes. He told me I was being childish now but I guess he got the hint as he fired up his big fancy boat and headed off to harrass other parts of the lake. Never could figure why some folks need to act like that sometimes. Maybe they don't realise that fish'n is sposed to be fun

Great story Capt Bruce and I can't believe all the places you've travelled on your boat. Love the part about the dogs on the dock
-
I don't think you and Paul leave baits laying around the boat Joey, but it's something you'll have to be thinking about all the time. I know guys who switch baits, throw them on the floor of the boat and the next thing you know, the poor pooch has one in his foot.
-
Marvin loves a boat ride Joey and would happily cruise around all day, but as soon as I start to speed up he gets nervous. I think it may be from the vibration of the faster speeds. Also, everytime I make a cast he thinks I'm throwing a ball and tries to dive in the drink to retrieve it. So yes, my dog enjoys fishing, but I can only go 1 MPH and I'm not allowed to cast. Just something for you to think about

I loosen all my drags at the end of EVERY day's fishing. Not sure if that's really necessary or not but I've never had a problem with the drag on any reel. Just be sure to tighten them again when you head out next time.

Maybe the electronic gizmos are like the deer whistles that some folks put on their car bumper, they seem to work well until you hit your 1st deer
-
Haven't seen a mouse since we moved in Paul and we're surrounded by woods, so they seem to work well. As for the pooches, mines in the garage with me all the time with no problems. But I don't have the gizmos in the house and we don't have any mice here either, so who knows

New Addition to my Family - it's a girl! :)
lew replied to Aaron Shirley's topic in General Discussion
My son was 6' 4" Arron and it seemed like we had to buy him new clothes every 2 weeks while he was growing up...and up...and up... Congrats on the new addition to your family, it's the best thing that can happen. -
I've used moth balls for years Rob and have never had a critter take up residence in my boat, even the 10 years it wintered in a barn. When I bought this house there were a few of these gizmos in the garage supposedly to ward off pests and so far, so good. Now if I could just find something to stop the bears from poopin in my backyard

You could very well be right Joe
-
Just kinda hard to follow things Joe when folks are posting from both sides of the fence.
-
Sorry Wayne, but I have to agree with Smallie on this one. YOU'RE the one who called this thread Winternet and then you turn around and start posting about building plastic bits for seatbelts. Kinda hard to figure how this post suddenly turned from being winternet to somehow being about you

Hey Phil, I remember one weekend you and me were up north and we were hoping the daytime temps would RISE to -30
-
That was a fun day for sure Norm, but not because of the ice fishing
