I've been using the BPS un-insulated GORTEX jacket & bibs for about 5 years now and it's excellent, although I can't remember what model it is. Nice & light for summer use but I got a size too large and throw on a sweater when the weather gets nasty. No complaints whatsoever.

Nope, once the government deems you old, they give you a freebie.

There was a time Bill when that wasn't such a big deal as long as everyone was behaving themselves. Probably 25 years ago myself & 2 buds were heading out for a day of fishing in the Kawarthas in my boat and we had a cooler with samiches and 6 beer when we got stopped by the police boat. They asked for all the usual safety gear and when he was satisfied with that he asked me what I had in the cooler. I told him straight up about the beer and his answer was "thank you gentlemen and have a good day of fishing" Everyone was sober and behaving themselves and he could see that. Wouldn't want to try that today though.

I've also got a 6500 watt Cliff and it certainly is reassuring to know it's there when needed, specially in these cold temps. We lost power last spring for 50 hours but with the generator it had almost no impact on us. Also nice having the wood stove going and even with these -19 temps last night, the furnace hardly came on at all.

Ya, those darned Muskoka folks ruining it for the whole province. They otta be ashamed of themselves....

10 years ago 2 friends of mine were out fishing and the passenger was drinking a beer (the only one he had) and was spotted by the police. He was given a $125 ticket and the driver, who wasn't drinking, was told that seeing as he was in charge of the boat, could also be charged, basically for permitting open beer in his boat.

If you want to tow a heavy boat, get yourself a strong truck. If you get yourself a strong truck, don't expect real good gas mileage. If your worried about poor gas mileage, get yourself a small boat that can be towed with a small truck. You can't have everything boys. I bought myself a boat that's around 3500 pounds, so I also bought myself an F-150 supercrew with a 5.4 motor to tow it with. It's a stong truck and does a great job of towing the boat, it also stops very well and has plenty of room for carrying my gear. It's OK on fuel consumption but not good, but I knew that when I bought it and as such, I don't worry about it. It is what it is.
