  1. I heard about a 14' tinnie with 2 guys aboard that was missing from the Trenton area, anyone hear anymore ??
  2. Good to hear the new boat worked well in the big waves Greg.
  3. I'll also recommend Guest, they make an excellent charger.
  4. And there's nothing wrong with the Mrs. hauling the logs off to the wood shed either.
  5. Can't blame them for that, too many times when someone posts a monster musky picture, all the "experts" tear them apart.
  6. Yeah, that's a real beaut, thanks for posting that Shawn !! No wonder I love fishing Nip so much
  7. Started off as an interesting discussion, too bad it went down the drain.
  8. This is my brother and I fishing Quinte 10 or 12 years ago and has always been a favorite picture of mine. Ed was a member of this board and died in 2007 After I posted here about his passing, Joey got hold of that picture, took up a collection from a group of OFCers ...(totally unknown to me)...and had a painting done. She then presented me with the picture. It was one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me and is a gift I'll cherish for the rest of my life, as is Joey's friendship.
  9. More memorable for me is the fact that 50 years ago today was the day I joined the Navy. Heard about Kennedy later in the day.
  10. That was excellent, thanks for letting us know about the video !!
  11. Cliff, everyone who's ever dealt with you, including me, knows you do excellent work for a very fair and honest price and if you say that's what the job is worth, we all know you can be trusted. The issue here though is a mechanic giving a price that the client agreed on, but then jacking the bill waaay up without checking 1st to see if the extra work and money is OK before going ahead with it. Years ago my wife and I booked a room at a lodge for a week of snowmobiling and asked for a price for an all inclusive stay. He gave me a price that I felt was fair and agreed on it. At the end of the week we went to check out and he told me that he'd given it some thought and had decided that he wasn't charging me enough and wanted an additional $200. I refused to pay the extra and gave him the agreed on price and left. There was about 25 of us that stayed at that lodge a few different times but after the attempted rip-off and me telling everyone about it, nobody ever went back. He tried to beat me for $200, but ended up losing a few thousand dollars in the process.
  12. And keeps happy customers coming back year after year.
  13. Yeah your right Terry, 50% increase, not 30. My bad.
  14. Steve, we stayed in the Dorland park for probably 15-20 years on our annual spring Quinte trip. Nothing fancy but a decent place to throw up some tents and great fishing just a short boat ride away. Here's a favorite pic of mine taken down at the water front. I miss those days.
  15. I haven't stayed in Adolphustown for probably 15 years Steve and didn't realise it's too shallow now. The other camp at Dorland was usable until about 5 years ago, but it may be too shallow now too. Oh well, it was a thought.
  16. If you take the ferry across to the east side of the bay, travel about 2 miles along #33 and you'll see a trailer park on the right. It's got a good ramp into Adolphus Reach and there won't be any traffic and there's acres to park in. If their closed, go just a bit further on 33 and turn left on #8 and go north 1 mile to Dorland. There's another camp ground on your left that we stayed in for years. It's a decent dirt ramp and again there's acres to park in. Don't know if either place is open this time of year Greg, but it's another option for you.
  17. Thanks Roy & Chris, it was a pretty simple job but really made a nice difference in both rooms.
  18. Alot of the long time OFC members will recall the 1st fall Quinte G2G we did when we had the HUGE waves down there. Tough fishing for sure but we had a blast that weekend.
  19. I wanted to open a 60" X 40" section of wall between the den & living room and planned it as a winter project, but got ambitious awhile back and did it early. Does that still count ?? Before During After
  20. If we're given a quote to do a job from anyone and they find out the price is gonna be 30% more than the estimate, I think it's only fair that they call to give the up-dated price before going ahead with the job.
  21. Hey Greg, if you don't think that old LUND of yours can handle the Quinte waves, you're welcome to borrow the Skeeter for the weekend
  22. Used to have an old bike that still worked well, so rather than tossing it in the garbage I figured someone could use it so I put it at the curb with a FREE sign on it. Lady came to the door and said she'd take the bike, but the rims had some rust on them and did I have any better rims to give her. She got nothing....
  23. Excellent Joey, just the way it should be. My best deal was a couple years back when I posted an item for $500 at 8:00 in the morning, had a reply at 8:30 and he was here at 11:30 with cash in hand and no dickering on the price.
  24. Yeah, you got that right Steve.
  25. Best reply I received for the stuff I had listed this week was from a lady who asked me if everyone who advertises on kijiji was honest. Told her I couldn't vouch for anybodies honesty 'cept my own. Guess she believed me cause she gave me the $300 I wanted
