For 36 years I worked either Christmas or New Years but fortunately those days are far behind me now. How bout you guys, anyone stuck working Christmas this year ??

Already has a built in test mode Phil and she automatically fires up every Monday morning at 9:30 am sharp and runs for 15 minutes. Much safer than wire cutters

Not sure what you find paranoid about being prepared for winter storms Shane, infact I seem to recall you talking recently about having good winter tires on your car, so isn't that being ready for a storm ?? Extra firewood for a wood stove, maybe a generator to run the essentials in your home, some flashlights nearby for when the power goes out, maybe a full propane tank for the BBQ ?? I carry a box in my truck with extra warm clothes and spare winter boots, a box of sand and a shovel....just in case. I dunno, but I always admire folks who are ready for what Mother Nature throws at them, rather than the guy who just sits back, does nothing, and then whine because a big snow storm caught him off guard.

Doesn't really show up in the pictures but the freezing rain is just pouring down right now and is gonna make the foot of snow from the last week even heavier.

I'm sitting here with a very $$$$ permanent generator and we haven't lost power yet. Darned near wish the power would go out for awhile so I could say it was worth the money to have it installed.

This isn't my machine but mine was identical to this one. 1984 Skidoo SS25 anniversary edition. It was 2 years old when I bought it in '86 and was like a rocket ship back then but is like an antique compared to todays modern toys.

Lotsa freezing rain late yesterday and it looks like we got about 5" of ice pellets overnight and now were back into freezing rain just to add to the fun, but the power is still on. Sposed to be decent tomorrow so I think I'll just wait till then before starting the cleanup.

Sposed to get freezing rain here all day but so far nothing since early morning....hope the luck holds.

Sounds like a great deal, I get mine from a private company but it's only $7 for a 60 pound bag so it's not too bad.

I don't watch reality TV and have never seen Duck Dynasty but after just spending 20 minutes reading this post, I don't feel as if I've missed anything. But maybe that's just me.

Snowed here all day yesterday and now the freezing rain is coming down on top of it. Looks like I'm in the center of the freezing rain warning for the next 2 days so it could get interesting. Oh well, they topped up my 1500 litre propane tank yesterday so if the power goes out for an extended period, my generator should be good for a long time. Hope everyone stays safe.

I just drove by Chemong an hour ago and saw a couple huts on the west shore below the causeway plus a couple snowmobiles so it must be somewhat safe at least those spots. Couldn't tell if the huts were portables or permanent though.

Battery back-up for a sump may be good for awhile, but if it's an extended power outage and your in an area where the sump runs alot, you could be flooded out when the batteries deplete.

I bought a new boat back in '99 and payed cash in full including taxes. Over the next 4 years I received 3 letters asking for a copy of the bill of sale to prove I payed the tax. First 2 letters I complied with but when I received the 3rd letter I just ignored it and never heard from them again.
