  1. If the pilot is on and the thermocouple does not tell the gas safety shut off and gas control valve it is on the control valves will not open. Many interlocks but this usually is the culprit when it suddenly stops working. On an old unit I had the fan did not come on until the heat exchanger was up to temp otherwise it will blow cold then luke warm air not hot air. Nice to be a renter when this happens I guess.
  2. On an older furnace it most likely is the thermocouple or thermopile. The first quick fix is to clean it with some emory cloth.
  3. Cop pulls my truck over for speeding, doing 110 in an 80. I ask what about the guy that passed me? He looks in the box and sees my rods and reels. He says " I see you fish " I reply yes I do, he responds " Do you catch them all?" Good one, I surrender.
  4. Try the Canada Centre for Inland Waters in Burlington.
  5. Maybe someday in the near future there may even be some pics of Fish. Shag, why even try and explain, how long have you been married man? Brian, once a bottle has been opened it has to become a dead soldier, Zio Tonino was 100% verita.
  6. If I was to ask Mr. Smith one question it would simply be " If not Harper, who then?".
  7. Doug, it's OK to take a picture of your food before you eat it. taking a picture of it a day latter is not good.
  8. Don't you hate when they do that? And when they throw the cap of the Crown or Smirnoff away. I have to blame someone Bruce, might as well be a nice group of people, I almost said guys.
  9. No mice Paul because the snakes probably ate them all. Do Garter snakes eat mice?
  10. That sounds like a great deal, might need to take a look tomorrow.
  11. That is one good looking kid, he looks to have a bit of an attitude already. Way to go Chris Brock, keep them coming, it's nice to get a pile of fishing stuff for Fathers day. By the way we have never met but based on a few pics I've seen of you there is no need to get a DNA test for that little guy, just kidding Dad, congrats again.
  12. A friend down the road does all the smoking for us, not the stuff Justin T. smokes, his brines are a family secret. He says it's all in the brine. I really love smoked brisket best but not a steady diet of any smoked meat or fish. When in Finland we lived on smoked fish and Reindeer. I never had another piece of smoked anything for a few years. Reindeer is kinda hard to find around here, as well as Tar soup.
  13. You folks are beauties. I have gained about 10 freekin pounds because of this thread. Mods please take this down for the sake of all of our elasticized pants!!
  14. That looks like the Grand River south of York every few years. Had a bad one that flooded Dunnville a few years back, it did 500 thousand in improvements.
  15. Shelter and food over further funding for The Canadian Space Agency. A recent Dr. Suzuki (the talking head scientist) told us that for every hectare of land cleared for the infrastructure for energy projects in Alberta 4 songbirds leave the area never to be heard again. Hey I like songbirds as much as the next guy but if I don't have the means to feed my family and heat this shack we will be eating them anyway. I wonder if the scientists paid to listen to birds were cut as well.
  16. The ramp and bucket thing works. About 10 years back we had a few mice warming and doing whatever they do. I had caught a few in traps but they were still around tearing up insulation that I didn't get around to seal, I know, it's was on the list. Anyway I get up in the middle of the night and decide to get a drink. I took a header when I tripped over the old washtub in the middle of the kitchen floor that had a piece of tongue and groove pine as the ramp with peanut butter slathered on it. Imagine my surprise when I finally got out of the wash tub and onto my feet, turned on the light and found this abomination of engineering in the middle of the kitchen. I had no idea what it was or what for. I guess my squealing woke my ingenious wife, I screamed " you trying to kill me, what the hell is this thing?". It's a mouse trap but I caught an idiot that thinks he can see in the dark was her matter of fact reply.
  17. fish fishburn, we had a camp downstream of Westmeath and worked the rapids very similar. We would slow troll the shoreline of the fast water watching the land to make sure we were moving. A simple floating Rapala usually did the trick. At the headwater we would cast above the fast water and work back toward the anchored boat with a crankbait, minnowbait or jig. Can not beat fast water for Walleye.
  18. There is a big difference between legalization and decriminalization. If it was legalized does anyone here think buying the stupid stick with taxes added will be cheaper then still buying it from the streets? I really don't care I have never inhaled.
  19. Check out Fishmasters out of Dalhousie. He has been on the fish for everyone I have recommended him to. fishmasters.com
  20. I have to wonder who it was that voted Winnie into power? No one here I believe. Gas plant scandal, Orng fiasco, and, and, and. I woke up the morning after the election and not only she and her crew were voted back in, it was with a majority. Someone in the Keep it Beautiful province is happy.
  21. I have never paid for an eye exam due to Diabetes until 2 weeks ago. The test to look deep to the optic nerve cost me 40 bucks. I was going to question that one but don't want to spend 3 days trying to get to talk to a human being.
  22. Big Cliff, please refer to the thread on health care. The monthly premium we pay for OHIP would cover didly squat. Just look at the costs for Jens care so far, that's just one of many. When my relatives come up from the US and can't believe the prices we pay, they say " Oops forgot, free health care!" It's a running gag we have. Without "sin taxes" I don't know where we would be. The government drools when they think of the revenue they could get on weed. I know I partake a lot less because of the cost of booze. One of the "sins" is driving a 4 wheel truck as well. I don't think a Fiat will tow my boat, so I pay and so does everyone else who chooses to be a sinner. My cousin in Western NY pays over $1000.00 a month for his family of 5 to be covered by Blue Cross. I still choose to live right here.
  23. Ah the good ole days. 6 Walleye on Nipissing. I don't think a licence was needed then was it?
